Adobe Acrobat Connect — комплекс программ для организации и проведения веб-конференций и вебинаров. Состоит комплекс из нескольких компонентов — трех серверных модулей, каждый из которых имеет свое предназначение, одного клиентского модуля, что служит для подключения пользователей к виртуальным конференциям. Все программные модули Adobe Acrobat Connect предъявляют одинаковые требования к компьютеру (Windows 7 и выше, 32-бит или 64-бит). Интерфейс выполнен на русском языке.

Клиентский модуль Adobe Acrobat Connect

Клиент Adobe Acrobat Connect — единственный компонент, распространяющийся бесплатно. Основное его предназначение — подключение к транслирующимся в режиме реального времени вебинарам или веб-конференциям с предоставлением пользователю различных инструментов для взаимодействия с ведущим: установка видеосвязи, общение посредством чата, передача и совместное управление файлами, совместная работа над документами и т.д.

Функциональность клиентского компонента Adobe Acrobat Connect зависит от того, к какому именно серверному модулю осуществляется подключение, а также от включенных на стороне организаторов конференций/вебинаров функций для слушателей/зрителей. К примеру, если выполняется подключение к обучающему вебинару, ведущий (учитель/лектор) может запросить у своих слушателей (учеников) ответы на какие-либо вопросы в виде тестирования. Также возможно проведение голосования и опросов.

Серверные модули Adobe Acrobat Connect

На момент написания статьи существовало 4 основных серверных модуля Adobe Acrobat Connect:

1. Adobe Connect Meeting. Модуль служит для организации онлайн-семинаров/совещаний/встреч. Главная его особенность — предоставление всем участникам подобных мероприятий возможности общения друг с другом, передачи любых типов файлов, работы над документами и т.д.
2. Adobe Connect Webinars. Расширенная версия предыдущего модуля со встроенным электронным органайзером и системой учета. При помощи Adobe Connect Webinars дополнительно осуществляется управление событиями, относящимися к участию в онлайн-мероприятиях: регистрация учеников на курсы, оценка успеваемости, создание персональных уведомлений, подготовка отчетов и многое другое.
3. Adobe Connect Learning. Данный модуль предназначен для создания, управления и проведения курсов дистанционного обучения. Одна из ключевых возможностей Adobe Connect Learning — разработка учебных программ, как индивидуальных, так и для крупных аудиторий. Среди удобных функций — возможность проведения контрольных работ, тестирования и прочих аспектов, присущих учебе в реальном учебном заведении. Плюс ко всему в Adobe Connect Learning предусмотрен функционал первых двух модулей.

Adobe Connect meeting application

The Adobe Connect meeting application offer greater performance and a better overall meeting experience and is required to share your screen in an Adobe Connect meeting. It can be installed before your meeting using the installers below.

For organizations that do not allow their end-users to install the Adobe Connect application the MSI installer is available for IT departments to deploy the application.

If using Firefox on Mac OS, you must right-click on the appropriate application link below and select «Save Page As» to download the application.

Meeting Applications for Adobe Connect

Adobe Connect meeting applications are backward compatible with earlier versions of Adobe Connect. Please note that although there is currently no application for Linux, users on Linux (Ubuntu, Red Hat, and OpenSUSE) can still attend, host, or present in meetings in the browser.

As mentioned earlier, Adobe Connect’s design interface doesn’t look too flashy. However, the program prioritizes a simple layout for session and account management. In the beginning, you might feel overwhelmed with multiple tabs, which are quite useful in the long run. Since Adobe doesn’t consider all meetings alike, it has created different categories for meetings, seminars, training sessions, etc.

How to set up a meeting?

Like Zoom Meetings and other similar programs, it’s easy to set up an online meeting with Adobe Connect. You’ll just need some basic information and a few clicks to get started. The program lets you import contacts or users from different sources. In case someone’s not on the user list, you can manually send the meeting URL via chat, social media, or email.

As the ‘Host’, you have complete control over the screen’s layout for participants. The application gives you customized templates on the right-hand side of the screen. If you don’t like the preset templates for collaboration, discussion, or sharing, you can create customized experiences.

All the layouts or templates are defined by ‘pods’, which can be categorized as customizable screen elements, such as screen sharing, whiteboard, file sharing, video chat, polls, text chat, and more. With a single click, you can easily turn a pod off or on. There’s a dedicated, easy-to-access ‘Pods’ menu, which provides you with multiple options to shuffle between settings.

Meeting ‘Hosts’ have good control over access to the meeting. The program allows registered users, accepted guests, and everyone else with a meeting URL to join the video chat or conference. You can even set the online meeting to ‘allow only accepted guests’. In such a scenario, when a participant clicks the meeting URL, you get a request to provide access.

When it comes to participants, Adobe Meeting doesn’t impose any restrictions or limits on the number of feeds displayed in a meeting. Since most video conferencing apps lack this feature, it gives the platform a major advantage.

Once a participant joins a meeting, the program displays a wizard with a wide range of features. These focus on providing information about joining a call, initiating a chat, raising your hand to speak, and viewing shared content. For audio, Adobe Connect comes with a built-in VoIP program. Additionally, it’s compatible with third-party, dial-in services.

One of the most powerful features of the program is the ability to record meetings. Once a meeting is finished, you can access recordings from the meeting dashboard. Unless specified otherwise, all the recordings are private to the ‘host’. In case you want to share the recording with other participants, you can simply copy the URL and share it via different communication channels.

In case you already use a dial-in service for online meetings, Adobe Connect can give you more control over the meeting space, so you can hold collaborations, webinars, and training sessions. Overall, it’s a great choice.

A solid option for online meetings on Windows PCs

Adobe Connect has done a good job of building a comprehensive video conferencing platform.
