How To Install Adobe Flash Player In Kali Linux

Kali Linux comes with Iceweasel (Firefox) as an installed browser. For some reason, the producers of Kali Linux missed one thing, the vital Adobe Flash Player plugin.

This simple tutorial will show you how to get Adobe Flash Player in Kali Linux’s Iceweasel. There are two different methods to do this. Try method #1 first, as it is very easy. If, for some reason, that method doesn’t work, then move on to method #2.

Method #1: Automatic Install

Open a Terminal in Kali Linux and type this command:

apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree

When it finishes installing and you are presented with the root@kali prefix again, type this command and press Enter:

update-flashplugin-nonfree –install

You can go here in Iceweasel to test Flash Player. If you see the little animation, then you’re good to go!

If you don’t see the flash animation, then continue on to Method #2.

Method #2: Manual Install

Step One:

Start Kali, login to root, open Iceweasel, and go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/.

Step Two*:

When Adobe.com opens, it should already have detected what version you need (Mine is Linux 64-bit Firefox). So all you need to do is click on the drop down menu that says Select version to download… and select .tar.gz for other Linux from the list.

Now hit the download button

* Note, Adobe is constantly changing their website, I’ll do my best to keep up with these changes, but your experience may still be a little different than my pictures.

Step Three:

The download window will now open, and Iceweasel will ask you want you want it to do with the file, select Save file… and hit OK.

If Firefox asks you where to save the file too, select the root folder and hit OK.

When it has finished downloading, close Iceweasel.

Step Four:

Open a Terminal, type ls and hit Enter. Kali will then display all the folders/files in your root folder, the adobe flash player .tar.gz folder should be among them.

Step Five:

Now that we know the name of the Adobe Flash Player folder, we need to unzip it. Start by copying the name of the Adobe Flash Player folder.

Now type tar –xf and paste the name of the Adobe Flash Player folder. See example below:

Example: tar –xf install_flash_player_11_linux.x86_64.tar.gz

The name of your Adobe Flash Player folder might be different then mine, so don’t try to copy mine!

The complete command should look similar to this photo:

Hit Enter

Step Six:

Kali should take a couple of seconds to unzip the folder. After it’s complete type this command: mv libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/ and hit Enter.

Kali Linux will do the rest, Adobe Flash Player has now been installed! To test your Flash installation, go to this URL in Iceweasel: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/, if you see the little flash animation, then you are done! You can also delete all the Flash Player folders/files in your root folder, they’re not important.

Today I updated my Kali Linux in latest version 2018.2 and I found the flash player is not working in Mozilla Firefox. Flash Player mostly used to play videos and flash content in a browser. so if you don’t have the latest version of Flash Player many flash content will not visible. I open a website which has some flash content, I got the following error.

So I decided to write an article on how to install Flash player in Kali Linux Mozilla. So this article also will helpful for those, who are facing the same problem. By the way, it’s very easy to update Flash Player.

Download from the official websites of the flash player and extracted and copy libflashplayer.so into /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins .

If you don’t know how you can install the flash player plugin in Mozilla, so you can follow the steps given below

Following steps are enouhg to know How to Install Flash Player in Kali Linux. Start Now:

STEP 1: Download Flash player plugin

Go to the official website of Adobe flash player and download appropriate file (.tar.gz) for your Kali Linux version. After some time downloading will be completed then go for the next step.

STEP 2: Extract or unzip the downloaded file

Go to the download folder and you will find .gz file. You need to extract it .just right click on the file and select option extract here

STEP 3: Install the flash player plugin in Mozilla

After the extracting just run the following commands

STEP 4: restart Firefox browser

Установка Flash player в Kali Linux

После установки Kali Linux понадобился flash player много способов установки перепробовал, но все они работали с ошибками. Предлагаю вариант который на 100% заработает. Для этого необходимо выполнить следующие действия:

1. Скачать с официального сайта программу

2. Нажать Ctrl+Alt+t откроется консоль и в ней вводим

3. Копируем libflashplayer.so в папку /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/

Вот и все радуемся работе программы

Доброго времени суток. На 2м этапе пишет что не найден файл, файл скачиваетя в домашнюю папку . Помогите . Заранее благодарен.

и вам доброго…возможно вы устанавливаете другую версию…у меня в примере версия 11..через команду ls покажите что вы скачали….

install_flash_player_11_linux.i386.tar.gz название файла, на оф сайте пишет что для версии стабильного плагина нет (я мог не правильно перевести написанное) При физическом открытии архива(мышкой) с флеш требует подтвердить установку и после выдает ошибку — GDBus.Error:org.gtk.GDBus.UnmappedGError.Quark._pk_5ftransaction_5ferror.Code4: SimulateInstallFiles not supported by backend . И это продолжается каждый раз. С убунту подобных проблем не встречал.Огромное «благодарю» за внимание))

через команду ls-
root@localhost:

# ls

install_flash_player_11_linux.i386.tar.gz sketchbook
root@localhost:

попробуйте сделать так
tar xzvf install_flash_player_11_linux.i386.tar.gz
а потом так
cp libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/

Супер! Всё получилось с 1-го раза. ОС kali-linux 1.0.6 под проц AMD.
А неделю назад устанавливал Скайп — не смог. Нет дистрибьютива под amd, ставил под интел, не получилось и при этом слетел видеоплеер VLC.
Flash player по Вашему способу поставился на ура! Спасибо!

Kali linux: Как установить Flash в Kali linux?

Мы уже научились устанавливать java sdk и firefox в kali linux, теперь, чтоб уже совсем упростить себе жизнь, давайте установим flash. Как правило, flash-плагин уже установлен в kali, но по многим причинам его может и не быть — вы его удалили, отключили в репах, и т.д.

Есть два пути установки flash-плагина, 1й через репозитории, 2й в ручную из исходников. Рассмотрим каждый по порядку.

Установка через репозитории

Тут все до жути просто, выполняем следующие команды в терминале:

apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree

Готово! Для проверки его работы можете пройти по ссылке и нажать «Check now», должно появиться сообщение, о версии установленного плагина.

Ручная установка

Как всегда существует еще и т.н. «сложный путь» или линукс-вэй, но на самом деле ничего сложного в нем нет, начнем.

Для начала скачаем последнею версию flash-плагина отсюда.

Для меня это оказалась install_flash_player_11_linux.x86_64.tar.gz

Переходим в папку Downloads:

Извлекаем содержимое архива:

tar xzvf install_flash_player_11_linux.x86_64.tar.gz

Копируем плагин в папку приложения firefox

cp libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/

Готово! Для проверки его работы потребуется перезапуск браузера, далее можете пройти по ссылке и нажать «Check now», должно появиться сообщение, о версии установленного плагина.

How to Install Flash in Kali Linux

This is a small guide with instructions that users can copy paste and make Flash work in their Kali Linux. Copy paste supported instruction to make life simpler.

Readers: DO NOT INSTALL FLASH. Just DON’T. Explanations coming soon.

There’s two different ways you can install flash in Kali Linux:

1. Install Flash from Repository – Usually works
2. Install Flash Manually – For the rest failed at step 1

Now lets move on to instructions …

Choice 1: Install Flash from Repository:

This is fairly simple and easy and should work from most people out there:

In the terminal:

and then type in:

That’s it. You flash should be working as expected. Go to testing section at the bottom on this post to confirm installation.

Choice 2: Install Flash Manually

In case you tried Choice 1 and failed, try this steps below to install and activate Flash manually.

Step 2.a: Download the latest Flash Player archive

Launch your browser (I assume IceWeasel?) and download the Flash Player in a separate folder.

At the time of writing this guide the available version was install_flash_player_11_linux.x86_64.tar.gz

Download and save the file in /root directory.

Users should take note that the version used in this guide is x64 which is 64-bit. 32-bit users should choose their versions accordingly.

Download link = http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
(Note: Choose Version to download tar.gz for other Linux)

Step 2.b: Untar archive and install

Follow the instructions below:

That’s it. Those who failed at choise 1, should be able to do this fairly easily. Now move on to ttesting to confirm flash is working as expected.

Testing

First of all, close your browser and re-open.

Many users actually forgets to do this step and later complains Flash ain’t working.

My advise is to bookmark this site to be able to reopen these instructions quickly, or simply copy these into a leafpad/vi/text file.

Go to following website to test if you have Flash player:

NOTE: Adobe now serves an older version of Flashplayer for Linux. So the above page gives an error…. But just go to Youtube and if you can see a video properly, that means Flash is working as expected. THATS IS UNFAIR!! (Updated: 18/12/2013)

Hang on a second, the main reason you installed Flash is to watch youtube videos, so try that too.

Please use some text editor that provides at least rudimentary spellchecking and grammar checking so you are writing in English – assuming you do not have editors at this website to proof or peer review things before posting. If you don’t perhaps it is time you do that, you’re taught it in primary school that before submission you ought to hand your paper to your neighbor and peer review one anothers work. In adulthood, in academia, and especially where intrinsic instructions are given it is a must if you are generally incoherent as our author seems to be.
