Ok! thanks for explaining. I just asked because I didn’t see it discussed anywhere.
mijailr commented on 2021-04-02 13:45
Indeed rbuchberger, but the original .exe file doesn’t exist anymore and we was having issues with archive.org so we decided to store the exe in the repository and do not allow pull request changing the sha signature or the exe file. But if you have a proposal, please open a pull request.
rbuchberger commented on 2021-04-02 11:13
Sorry to be suspicious, but where did that .exe file come from? It’s a little weird to pull a compiled binary from someone’s github.
Eeems commented on 2020-10-28 17:29
I’ve noticed that this PKGBUILD will hang waiting for user input if the lha commands have already extracted their contents as part of a previous run. I’d recommend adding f to the options.

Edit: sorry, it took a while. I’m not really familiar with how GitHub works

@ryshglene can you please create a pull request to the aur branch on https://github.com/mijailr/wd719x-firmware
ryshglene commented on 2020-04-07 17:13
I’ve made these changes to the PKGBUILD:
And now it works for both lha and lhasa . Please update it, if you get the same results.
emceebois commented on 2020-04-06 15:50
I think I might know what’s going on — when I used lha from the AUR, the filenames were uppercase. When I replaced it with lhasa from Community, the filenames were lowercase.
If there is a flag recognized by both lha and lhasa that makes the command case-insensitive, adding that flag should fix this issue. If not then either some helper commands to do a case-insensitive grep of the output of lha l will need to be piped or parameterized to allow both to work, or lha will need to be removed as a dependency and entirely replaced with lhasa.
mijailr commented on 2020-04-06 15:40
@nightuser can you get the latest version of this? Because I updated this to use the archive.org file, so maybe we have a different version of the pciscsi.exe
nightuser commented on 2020-04-06 15:10
The following is written in the man page for lha:
That’s strange. I have:
lha is from AUR with no additional changes.

Re: [Solved] Kernel 5.8.0 — xhci_pci
So possibly needed drivers will be soon or later (or never) part of linux-firmware (or add-on package).
Marking this as solved.

Re: [Solved] Kernel 5.8.0 — xhci_pci
I see this is Solved, but I thought I would add this info since I am having this issue too. I traced mine to the Renesas USB controller pci card.
I found this kernel.org bugzilla that is discussing this issue, so hopefully the fix will come soon:

Re: [Solved] Kernel 5.8.0 — xhci_pci
For those with the uPD720201 or uPD720202 controller.
Although the package includes a pointless install file duplicating the functionality of the mkinitcpio hook but without a dependency on mkinitcpio meaning if it is installed on a system without mkinitcpio it will cause an error. Package is also missing a license file.

Re: [Solved] Kernel 5.8.0 — xhci_pci
@loqs
On the web page of the package, the maintainer says he has «tried to fix it» and that it should be OK now.
PS — Hoping I did no harm by re-opening a thread marked as [Solved].

Re: [Solved] Kernel 5.8.0 — xhci_pci
@philo Thank you for relaying my comments. The existing hook can be reused by placing an empty file in /usr/lib/initcpio/. The only difference would be initrd will not be rebuilt on package removal.

Everyone has those, ignore the message if you don’t have an affected USB controller or install the linked package if you have an affected USB controller.

Possibly Missing Firmware Module wd719x
When running mkinitcpio -p with kernel updates, I get a new warning that I’m possibly missing the firmware module wd719x. This is new—I haven’t had this warning before, and my hardware hasn’t changed. I haven’t been able to find this module. Does anyone know where I can find it, and, if not, if it’s okay if this goes unattended?
Thank you!

Re: Possibly Missing Firmware Module wd719x
Thank you for linking that page. I read it again, as I haven’t read it since installing Arch. My question was more pertaining to this kernel module in particular. The linked page only refers to the two most common errors generated by mkinitcpio, but I haven’t found any documentation on the kernel module in the title of this post.
If I don’t need it, great, I’ll ignore it. If I do, how do I read about it and install it?
Thank you!

Re: Possibly Missing Firmware Module wd719x
Got same some warning, albeit I doubt that my system has such hardware. Obscure firmware modules are usually found in the AUR.
Install “wd719x-firmware” (AUR), which depends on “lha” (AUR) and “lib32-glibc” (Multilib) for making the package in reverse order (you probably need to activate “Multilib” in “/etc/pacman.conf” first.)

Re: Possibly Missing Firmware Module wd719x
Are the warnings for the main image or the fallback?
#7 2015-03-20 19:10:43
Re: Possibly Missing Firmware Module wd719x
Installing wd719x-firmware, as Marshal Kilgore says, clearly solves the issue. However, I’m suspicious that actually this is a false warning from mkinitcpio, as in the cases that are mentioned on the wiki page that Trilby linked. I mean I also doubt that I have such a hardware. In order to check this I followed the upstream URL link of the wd719x-firmware package, and found out that the firmware is for Western Digital PCI-SCSI host adapters. OK, so I have to find out whether I have one of those PCI-SCSI host adapters. I don’t know what they are, so I just tried to google for «linux list PCI-SCSI host adapter», without success. Does anyone know how to list such hardwares?

Re: Possibly Missing Firmware Module wd719x
Buddlespit: on my system, the warning is for the fallback image.
#9 2015-03-20 19:17:20
Re: Possibly Missing Firmware Module wd719x
If it’s for the fallback, which is looking for every module it can get it’s hands on, but not the main, which already knows what it needs, do you think the missing modules are needed?
Not trying to be a dick, really I’m not. I’m just trying to get you to think this thru. I made the same assumptions when I first built my Arch system. Someone was nice enough to point out that if it’s not asked for in the main image, then it’s probably not needed at all.

Да читал я это только ничего не понял и решения не нашёл.

Natrio

[SOLVED] WARNING: Possibly missing firmware
Post by philotux » Tue Mar 05, 2019 11:51 am
During a couple of recent updates, I’ll get the following warnings:
Searching the web, I came across https://gist.github.com/imrvelj/c65cd5c . 4f5a3f7a6d regarding the exact same issue
But before doing anything on my own, I wanted to consult you about this.
Since my system seems to be running just fine, do you think I should just ignore these warnings or I should proceed as indicated in the instructions above?

No, I have none of the above in my system.
My system runs great and I am happy that there is nothing wrong with it.
Thank you so much for replying and putting my mind at ease.

I have also two of those.
installing or not installing does not change anything.
Being lazy and having a whatever attitude I do not install it.

If no issues then no worries
that is a sentence with copyright Erik Dubois.
LIke in previous post I just looked upon two mentions about »'»‘possible»»» missing drivers just this morning in the «update».
I follow my students on this matter.

Yes you can install the packages from AUR.
the difference is that you do not see the error messages anymore.
For the rest no improvement or is it worse.
Normally I do not install these things. Only if I got the time or if I am fed up seeing them.
