i have search the web/forum for a windows app that running on the PC you can see at least the apk icon, I have several apks on my PC but when I’m looking for an apk, is hard to remember the name or when trying a new apk is not enough just looking for the name, I may be more visual guy that if I see a nice icon I will try it jajajja
I just found this thread but look die..

is there some application or dev that can easily do an apk viewer, just looking inside the APK folder on the /res/drawable/ the apk icon shows, but how to make it shows at the apk compressed file…

i just tried a Droid Explorer but i can not found a way to explore on the Actual PC. then i have try an other Windows program called Icon viewer but than only works on a dll and exe files, i try changing the extension but didn’t work.

the only way that i think it should other that writing a windows applications is to use the emulator with a Virtual Device, then run a File Explorer APK and look in to it. i did but i try to find where is the SD Content in to the PC and i think i found it in to the /User/.android/avd but no lucky putting the apk file on it, i will check it later but i think that one way to do it, i need to read more about the content storage when using the emulator..

Maybe someone could make an addon for Total Commander. Should be very possible to have it extract and use the icon inside the APK.

It already has addons for Blizzard MPQ files, C64 emulator files and Amiga emulator files. Seems very possible that it could get an addon to show this icon as well. I use it to browse APKs already.

i was checking File Expert and just notice you can share or see the SD card content from your PC, but also notice, the APK’s you can see how the actual icon for the app looks like.

is there someone could make a modification to this that we will be able to see our Hard drive Apps also?? or could be also good to have a chrome or firefox extension that allow us so see the icon of the app, i’m not expert on this.

Не только профессиональных разработчиков мобильных приложений, но и порой самых обычных пользователей интересует, какая имеет программа для открытия APK файлов на компьютере. А также – какая из них самая лучшая. На самом деле, однозначно ответить на этот вопрос невозможно. Все зависит от того, для каких именно целей планируется открывать АРК файл.

Что такое АРК файл

На самом деле, данный формат файла представляет собой не что иное, как обычный ZIP-архив. Внутри него находятся всевозможные программные компоненты, которые необходимы для успешной работы приложения на мобильной операционной системе Андроид. И вообще, АРК-формат – это «родной» формат для этой операционки. Соответственно, когда говорят о том, чтобы скачать АРК файл той или иной программы, подразумевают под этом – просто скачать программу для Андроида.

Чем и для чего открываются АРК файлы

Возвращаясь к вопросу, какая же самая лучшая программа для APK файлов на компьютере, будет для начала не лишним определиться, а для какой именно цели это нужно сделать:

1. Чтобы просто запустить мобильное приложение на компьютере;
2. Чтобы распаковать АРК архив на компьютере;
3. Или чтобы не только распечатать этот архив, но еще и иметь возможность внести в него изменения.

В первом случае можно посоветовать обратить внимание на так называемые эмуляторы. Это специальные программы, которые позволяют запустить мобильные приложения прямо на персональном компьютере. В настоящее время существует масса подобных приложения, и посоветовать что-либо определенное весьма трудно. Многие пользователи отдают предпочтение знаменитому Bluestacks. И его можно скачать прямо с официального сайта данного приложения: https://bluestacks-free.ru. Однако есть и другие эмуляторы.

Если же нужно просто раскрыть архив, то, поскольку АРК-файл, как уже отмечалось, это и есть самый обычный компьютерный архив, то его можно распечатать при помощи практически любого Windows архиватора. К примеру, отлично справится с этой задачей знаменитый Win RAR.

Тем, у кого стоит на компьютере «яблочная» операционная система, можно посоветовать такое приложение, как Archive Utility. Она также позволит любопытствующим узнать, что же, собственно говоря, имеется внутри загадочного АРК-архива.

Ну а для того, чтобы можно было не просто раскрыть архив, но и проанализировать его, а также иметь возможность внести в него изменения и собрать заново, существуют отдельные программы для разработчиков. К примеру, предлагается программа для чтения APK файлов на компьютере и работы с АРК форматами — Android SDK. Это по-настоящему профессиональный набор инструментов со своим собственным эмулятором и т.д.

Можно также порекомендовать установить специальный плагин для браузера Google Chrome под названием APK Downloader. Для его использования также потребуется включить в браузере режим разработчика. И можно будет прямо в окне Хрома просматривать и редактировать АРК-архивы.

Actually the apk file is just a zip archive, so you can try to rename the file to theappname.apk.zip and extract it with any zip utility (e.g. 7zip).

The androidmanifest.xml file and the resources will be extracted and can be viewed whereas the source code is not in the package — just the compiled .dex file («Dalvik Executable»)

It’s shipped with Android Studio now. Just go to Build/Analyze APK. then select your APK 🙂

While unzipping will reveal the resources, the AndroidManifest.xml will be encoded. apktool can – among lots of other things – also decode this file.

To decode the application App.apk into the folder App , run

apktool is not included in the official Android SDK, but available using most packet repositories.

There is also zzos. (Full disclosure: I wrote it). It only decompiles the actual resources, not the dex part (baksmali, which I did not write, does an excellent job of handling that part).

Zzos is much less known than apktool, but there are some APKs that are better handled by it (and vice versa — more on that later). Mostly, APKs containing custom resource types (not modifiers) were not handled by apktool the last time I checked, and are handled by zzos. There are also some cases with escaping that zzos handles better.

On the negative side of things, zzos (current version) requires a few support tools to install. It is written in perl (as opposed to APKTool, which is written in Java), and uses aapt for the actual decompilation. It also does not decompile attrib resources yet (which APKTool does).

The meaning of the name is «aapt», Android’s resource compiler, shifted down one letter.
