Когда купил wifi адаптер, думал, что будет работать на моей ubuntu 20.04, потому что в числе поддерживаемых систем значился linux. Оказалось, что не работает. Попробовал решения, которые предлагают на форумах, но адаптер так и не заработал. Пришлось вчера и сегодня заняться поддержкой драйвера.

Я подумал, а может это и не сложно сделать. И взялся за работу. При компиляции появлялись ошибки. Например, нет функции get_ds. Ну да, она была в 4 версии ядра, а в 5 этой функции нет. Я иногда думаю, что разработчики не хотят поддерживать свои драйвера из-за того, что в ядре постоянно изменения вносят и переписывать нужно некоторые участки кода. В общем, я посмотрел как в старой версии ядра реализован get_ds. Оказывается он просто возвращает KERNEL_DS. Ну это я и заменил также. Потом была проблема со структурой времени, которая в текущем ядре уже есть только 64 битная версия. Это исправил. Были ещё мелкие вроде исправления, но я не помню уже что исправлял. Итак, драйвер скомпилировался, но отказывался регистрировать устройство адаптер. Я нашел патч link, который обязывает производителей указывать правила. Я добавил в каждую запись в os_dep/linux/rtw_cfgvendor.c, такое .policy = VENDOR_CMD_RAW_DATA,

И скомпилировал, скопировал и запустил. и вуаля! у меня получилось. ) Хоть я в разработке ядра не разбираюсь, но поддержку простенькую мне удалось сделать. Ссылку на исходники драйвера пока что выложу на google диск. вот ссылка. link.

How to Install the TP-Link Archer T4U Plus AC1300 USB WiFi Adapter on Linux Mint

The following steps will install the Linux Mint driver for the TP-Link Archer T4U Plus AC1300 USB Wifi adapter.

Installing the TP-Link Archer T4U Driver

Open a Linux terminal and run the following commands to download and build the driver.

You should see the following output:

Run the following command to install the driver.

You should see the following output:

Restart the NetworkManager with the following command.

You should now be able to see the new TP-Link 802.11ac NIC in the Wifi Connections in the bottom-right corner of your desktop. Optionally, you can right-click the Wifi icon in your system tray and select Network Settings to see the new TP-Link Wi-Fi adapter listed.

Using with an xfinitywifi Hot Spot

After installing the driver and successfully connecting to your new adapter, you may choose to connect to the xfinitywifi hotspot, which requires a login before providing Internet access.

If you attempt to access the Internet from Chrome, you may see an error ERR_QUIC_PROTOCOL. The solution to this is to login to the xfinitywifi service, as shown below.

  1. In Chrome, navigate to chrome://flags
  2. Search for Experimental QUIC protocol.
  3. Select Disable.
  4. Navigate to any web page and you should be directed to the xfinitywifi sign-in page.
  5. Enter your account login to connect to the Internet.

If the sign-in button fails to work, open Firefox and repeat steps 4-5.

I bought a Tp-Link Archer T4U Version 3 USB Wireless-AC Adapter and do not understand how to install it.

What do I choose? The newer Archer T4U_V3_181018_Linux_beta or the slightly older Archer T4U(US)_V3_180511_Linux driver?

I have no clue on what to do after examining the folder contents. I am still learning some LM basics.

Any help appreciated getting this to work without extreme pain.

TP Support is dismal.

Obviously you know the internals, since the adapter is now working! Thank you very much.
I would like to understand what was done, so if you could explain it to me that would be great!
PM would be fine, if you wish.

I see that I downloaded one of your files.

Is this the complete driver for this Wireless Adapter, or can we squeeze more out of it?
Right now I’m connecting at 150 Mbps over a USB 2.0 port!

Why couldn’t tp-link do this?

Issue while installing driver for Archer T4U AC1300 on Mint 17

Original question

I could not find any specific answer for my question, all driver installation issues I found for the T4U are related to the kernel version and work around can be proposed, mine is different I think .

I bought an Archer T4U AC1300 from TP Link and I tried to install the open source driver from here.

but I believe the issue I have while installing the driver is more a compilation issue or a bug in the code itself (?).

I followed the basic driver installation procedure recommended on different websites:

but I always get an error during the make process in ioctl_cfg80211.c (sorry for the French):

I also tried to install the driver from: github.com/Grief/archer-t4u but also got similar errors (not exactly at the same location, but in the same file)

Solution

git clone https://github.com/gnab/rtl8812au

update /rtl8812au/os_dep/linux/usb_intf.c -> find the original bus id for the archer T4U AC1200 (2357:0101) and add a line with the bus id for the AC1300 (2357:010d) right after:

follow the instructions in the readme file provided in ./rtl8812au

The problem was two-folded:

GAD3R gave me a link to a correct version of the driver for my kernel that would compile correctly (many thanks for that!).

  1. Archer T4U AC1200 vs T4U AC1300

The Archer T4U in 99% of the references I found refers to the T4U AC1200, the one I purchased is a T4U AC1300 (also -v2). I am not sure if it is only a regional product name or if it corresponds to an actual hardware change. Maybe the T4u AC1300 is very recent as well: the only reference I could find is on the official website of Tp-Link .

Anyway, what triggered me is the bus id given on wikidevi :

The stick supports USB 3.0 and has the USB ID: 2357:0101

a lsusb gave me 2357:010d

The solution was then obvious: I added a line in /rtl8812au/os_dep/linux/usb_intf.c (see above in short solution)
