They are also becoming more technologically advanced: most can take and send pictures and videos and connect to the Internet. Mobile phones can be used to look up weather or answers to questions on search engines. Many children are becoming mobile phone owners. But we should be aware of both the positive and negative aspects of mobiles.
Let us start with the advantages of buying a mobile for a child. First of all, many mobile phones allow access to the Internet, which can help a child to find answers to questions very quickly and easily. This can help with studies and other simple questions like daily weather or finding directions to go to some place.
Secondly, some mobile phones have tracking devices. So parents can track where their child is at any moment, to know that he\she is safe.
Thirdly, mobile phones can be a learning tool for children. There are many applications that can help to learn new words or simply train your memory.
And last but not least, mobile phones allow parents and children to stay in touch. Mobile phones can be important in emergency situations or when a parent needs to quickly get in touch with a child or vice versa.
At the same time there are certain disadvantages in mobile phones usage. First and foremost is cheating. Students can text answers under their desks during tests. Some students try to find answers to test questions on the Internet using their phones.
Moreover, mobile phones can be very distracting from important events in a student’s life such as studying, doing homework, or even crossing the street.
Besides, children can receive abusive messages from other students or from strangers.
And finally, mobile phones are not cheap.
All in all, mobile phones have already become an important part of our daily life and communication. We just have to use them wisely.

Mobile phones have changed our lives dramatically. Nowadays handsets have Internet and include hundreds of applications, like weather channels, e-banking, and social networking. Even though modern lifestyle almost requires the use of smartphones, some people think that mobiles cause mental issues.

To start with, handsets help us to communicate with our families and friends no matter how far they are, because smartphones’ messengers can connect people from all over the world. Moreover, in case of an emergency, we can quickly call the ambulance or police. No doubt, the mobiles simplify our communication. It is also extremely convenient to carry a phone than a camera while traveling. I, personally, make videos and edit them on-the-go, using the latest apps.

On the contrary, some people don’t allow their kids to use mobiles as smartphones can be harmful to their mental health and wellness. Many children like to watch tons of useless videos, staying glued to their mobiles. As a result, unlimited use of smartphones makes them addicted.

In my opinion, handsets can not be banned, but their use should be limited, because smartphones help children studying. There are hundreds of e-books, apps, and online courses that they may take using the mobiles.

In conclusion, smartphones are by far the most useful human invention. However, we can not be on our handsets 24/7. There should be a certain time for phone use as well as «mobile-free hours».

How old were you when you got a mobile? Everybody knows that teenagers love their phones. Here are some mobile phone facts.

• Two-thirds of 12-15-year-olds in the UK have a smartphone.

• British 12-15-year-olds send an average of 200 messages a week.
• British girls aged between 12 and 15 text more than boys of the same age group. Girls send 221 messages a week!

Parents

Parents want their kids to be safe. Are teenagers safer with a mobile phone or without? Many parents want their children to have a phone so that they can be in contact at any time or in any place. On the other hand, for lots of parents a phone is a source of possible danger. Parents worry that their child may meet the wrong kind of ‘friends’ on social networking sites or that they might receive cruel messages from school bullies. Some parents have rules about their children’s mobile phone and internet usage and bad behaviour can result in removal of mobile privileges.

The great thing about my kids having mobile phones is that I can keep in touch with them. The worst thing about teenagers having phones is that some young people use them to send offensive messages to each other.

Mobile phones are permitted at school in the UK but pupils are not allowed to use them in class and they must be on silent during lessons. Teachers can take away phones if these rules are broken. School students can use their phones at break time and at lunchtime. Some teachers in British schools complain that pupils don’t always follow the rules and that lessons are disrupted by people texting, making and receiving calls, looking at social networking sites, watching videos and even making videos in the class.

My mum is scared that I’m going to lose my phone or that someone is going to steal it. She won’t buy me the really cool phone that I want. I’ve got this rubbish one that doesn’t do much. I suppose that makes sense but it’s not fair that everyone else has a smartphone and I don’t.

I know that some people want mobiles to be banned at school but as a language teacher I find that phones can be pretty useful in class . for educational purposes of course. For example, the students write a dialogue in French, they record it on a phone, then they listen to the recording and try to correct any mistakes or improve pronunciation. They love it!

Some people can not live without cells, whereas others think that they are harmful.

I think that cell phones are a good and useful invention. First of all , they allow people to communicate with lots of people without leaving their homes. Second , nowadays cells have become multifunctional , which means they are used as photo cameras, memory storages, payment systems so on. Having a phone let people get rid of many gadgets.

At the same time there are people who say cell phones might cause various diseases or mental troubles. There are phone-depended people who do not feel comfortable without phones. People also see each other less because of the mobiles.

I cannot agree with the opinion mentioned above for a particular reason. Cell phnes might be psychologically harmful for some people, nevertheless , the danger for health that mobiles might cause has not been scientifically proved yet . Talking on the phone with a person is almost as real as in person, which compensates many potentially bad things that it can bring.

In conclusion , I would like to say that any good invention can be turned into a dangerous one, if we misuse it. Telephones are primarily meant for communication, not for playing games on them all day long. I strongly believe if a person starts feeling dependent on his or her phone, they need to stop using it. Nevertheless , I consider cell phones one of the greatest inventions ever.
