Assassin’s Creed is the next-gen game developed by Ubisoft Montreal that redefines the action genre. While other games claim to be next-gen with impressive graphics and physics, Assassin’s Creed merges technology, game design, theme and emotions into a world where you instigate chaos and become a vulnerable, yet powerful, agent of change.
The setting is 1191 AD. The Third Crusade is tearing the Holy Land apart. You, Altair, intend to stop the hostilities by suppressing both sides of the conflict.
You are an Assassin, a warrior shrouded in secrecy and feared for your ruthlessness. Your actions can throw your immediate environment into chaos, and your existence will shape events during this pivotal moment in history.

Ubisoft, don’t forget Linux gamers! I love Assassin’s Creed games. And Assassin’s Creed Unity for Linux would be amazing!

Please, consider start lauching your games for Linux!

Thing is, it’s about the money. Go «corrupt» enough people to make Linux an interesting market target, and you’ll have a shot.

And that day. that day. I switch my gaming computer on Debian (and my whole e-world goes Wheezy ) and apt get until my network says uncle.

Until then, I keep it under W7 and I’m the one saying uncle on a daily basis.
(Nah, I’m mean, I have very few complaints about how W7 runs.)

Hey look, the obligatory linux thread.

Protip: no one gives a ♥♥♥♥ about your opinion, feel free to express it tho like i just expressed mine one you 🙂

Hey man, if you didn’t give a ♥♥♥♥, you wouldn’t have gone through the trouble of issuing a retort.

Seriously though, there is no Linux revolution or mass exodus. It’s laughable seeing a linux thread in the forum for every game. We have a hard enough time getting good ports on Windows, let’s not dillute it even further. The Windows version is more important.

The funny thing is that you’re saying «The Windows version is more important», when, in reality, the Microsoft pushing the dev to make the Xbox version more important

You’re leaving MS treating you like a second class user with Xbox exclusive or timed exclusive and bad ports, and talk about of priority to Linux user (that currently have already two big triple A release on day one togheter with windows and mac)

So, next time, think twice before go against a «Linux Revolution» that may make PC important again.

This non existent Linux Revolution will barely make a mark.

The existent MS destroying PC gaming will make an evident mark

Releasing a game on the Linux plateform is actually one of the most hard thing to produce. Unlike what people think, each plateform (Microsoft Windows, Mac OS (whatever big cat name it might have) and Linux) all have their own system management which use different version of the same drivers, different hardware and different memory & ribbon transition.

Some basic things might be similar between each system, but something like a game engine and the rendering system are completely different. In other words, building a single game for PC, Mac and Linux is similar to making 3 different games with some shortcuts once one if made.

This is also one of the reason why games on the WiiU, XBox360/One and PS3/PS4 doesn’t always have the same game. Their shaders systems as well as memory management are all different and affect the whole product. For little indie game with little graphical and sounds complexity, this is not hard to manage. But with a product that rely heavily on the hardware and the drivers related to those hardware, it’s a real pain in the butt to make something compatible with every system.

For every plateform, a video game developpement team and the publisher company must analyse if the effort and cost of production worth the transition or if the risks are too high. You, as a single person or as a small group, might think something is worth it as you wish it was, but the reality is not always as bright as what you wish for. The main issue with the Linus plateform is the lack of bases. It’s a quality for the OS to be able to adapt itself as much as Linus (with a bit of work, every hardware can run on it after all), but for software, that’s a deal killer. How can you test things out and debug things if it require 5x more time and tries than any other platform just to reach something barely stable.

That’s the issue with the Linux OS and why many games are not natively compatible with it.

Today after presentation of Google Stadia we know that AC Odyssey have been ported to LInux & Vulkan to be able to run on Stadia platform.

Can we expect that native port of AC Odyssey for Linux will be distributed also through Steam or Ubi Play ?

No announcement on Linux ports through Steam or Uplay has been made for Odyssey. We appreciate your enthusiasm, and will let you know if we get any further updates! 🙂

Well we know it exists now, I mean, Ubisoft already made it, it’s out there, we know that now. That’s been confirmed. Ubisoft have already ported the game, it already runs on Linux Debian and uses Vulkan. All the work has been done. You could easily just use it in it’s current form and it’ll run perfectly fine on SteamOS, Ubuntu, Mint, Debian, all the common Linux distros for Steam.

So if you could just release that port, copy those files onto Steam’s servers, then we could happily buy the game from you, and give you more sales.

In fact, in celebration of this being Ubisoft’s first Linux release on Steam (don’t worry we’ll pretend Might & Magic Heroes Online never happened), I’ll even buy multiple copies and gift them to friends, just because it’d be so wonderful for Ubisoft do a Linux release of one of their most popular franchises.

All Ubisoft has to do is just copy and paste that game onto Steam as a Linux release, and we can all happily start sending Ubisoft money. Ubisoft likes money right? We have money we can give you. We would like to send you that money in exchange for that game. It seems like a really simple transaction, you have some software sitting on a hard drive somewhere, you’ve already made it and own the rights to it, and there are hundreds of thousands of Linux gamers, possibly over a million, who would love to buy that software off you. Seems like a pretty huge win-win for all parties involved to me!

W10 is certainly not my future ^^

The problem you have is, the majority of people have zero issues with windows 10, which is why it is now the most used os.

I wont slate linux as it is good, i use it myself, but people need to stop slagging off win 10 just as they are «linux»users, if you cannot get 10 running well, you have an issue with your computer plain and simple, it runs totally fine otherwise. (a lot of modern linux users appear to be yesterdays mac users, where anyone using any other os are inferior)

As above, linux simply does not have enough of a market share to develop AAA titles on it, true some game engines are desinged to work on multiple platforms, and its much easier to port them, which is why you do get some linux games but many games are not. [/quote]

I’m not slagging off Win 10 I can boot that stuff anytime I wan’t. But it BSOD on games I want to play. It never BSOD before the anniversary update either. Windows broke my OS.
In before full reinstall: Been there, done that.
Microsoft just can’t be trusted. Not with data and not with settings. They don’t respect their users. Win10 is NOT the most used OS that is still Win7 and XP is probably still bigger than Win 10. I pity the Win 10 apologist sending their telemetry to Microshaft day in day out. Why can I not fully remove cortana? Why is the search function broken? Why are theoir advertisements in my startbar? Microsofdt should be paying me to run their OS not the other way around.

Win10 is NOT the most used OS that is still Win7 and XP is probably still bigger than Win 10. I

For gaming/steam. Sorry but you are dead wrong. Windows 10 accounts for 50.03% of the os share, thats more than all of the rest of the os’s combined, including xp, 7, 8, linux, osx, steamos.

How can MS not be trusted?
You can turn the telemetry off, its really easy.
You can fully remove cortana, google is your friend.
How is the search broken? Works totally fine for me.
Why should ms pay you? Its their operating system, they have spent a small fortune developing it, if you choose to use it, then thats on you, also I got my windows 10 as a free upgrade. I have it on 4 machines, did not pay for 10 for any of them.

Did you even do a tiny bit of research before just jumping on the win 10 is bad bandwagon and sprouting urban myths about it which have since long been debunked or work arounds made known.

Fair enough maybe you should not need to go into system files etc to switch of certain things, but lets be honest you also need to know quite a bit about linux too if you want to heavily customise it.
