Assetto Corsa is a racing simulation video game developed by Kunos Simulazioni, an Italian video game developer, and released on 8 th November 2013. The video game is now available to download for any iMac and MacBook computers. Assetto Corsa for MacBook does not require installation of addition programs to run, just download and play.

The game’s goal is to simulate driving, roads and car races in a realistic manner. It can be played in a variety of ways, supporting the majority of peripherals: mouse, keyboard, gamepads, wheels, triple-displays as well as VR head mounted and professional motion systems as well as Nvida 3D Vision.

Assetto Corsa allows you to change realism settings in order to adjust them to your preferences, to fit your experience. It rages from artificial to factory or even entirely disabled assists. You can play both online and offline, and you will be able to choose from a variety of session modes and session settings available for both. Offline, you can take part in special events, campaigns, hotlap, quick races, custom championships and many more, and you are able to play either alone, either against AL.

No matter if you are online or off, when you join a session you can adjust your car through a setup interface. The adjustments depend on the type of car you choose, but they include tire compounds and pressures, gear ratios, fuel, suspension settings of all kinds, alignment settings, drivetrain settings, hybrid settings and many more.

Needs a lot of improvement

I was stoked to see Kunos throwing their hat into the mobile game genre. Unfortunately the game has its flaws and isn’t as easy to pick up as I expected. The graphics, car models, and tracks are very well put together, but the steering is clumsy which makes the game unplayable at times. Whether you’re using the tilt or wheel function, it’s extremely hard to control at any speed.

I’m hoping with future updates you’d have the ability to use an external controller or left/right arrow buttons where the steering wheel function is located. The game has a lot of potential, but as it sits I gave it a 2 out of 5 stars. 😔

Tried to support it…

It’s just overall bad. Graphics need a ton of work. The car models are great, especially the interior, but there really needs to be some sort of lighting or post-processing. The driving is doo-doo as well. I chose the virtual steering wheel, and it didn’t make the driving any better. It’s too sensitive, even with changing sensitivity, and the cars drive worse than Grid Mobile. Its got that wobbly boat driving, and the AI starts to wobble and hit you on the first turn. Trying to get back on the road is horrible, you’re better off restarting the race. It feels like the game is going against you. I tried to continue playing, buying another vehicle, but the driving did not improve. BTW, upgrading that first car to max really won’t do much, there’s a few AI cars that go try-hard and will do everything they can to win, great but horrible when the player can’t even control their car going who-knows-what since it’s in KPH, not MPH. I will say that the only good time I had in this game was the doing the Overtake races, but this game is just a hit pile of trash, feels like a rip-off. There are a ton of great mobile racing games, but this one is not it.

I’ve been waiting for a good racing simulator for a long time and once I’ve seen Assetto Corsa I immediately bought it and I’ve been playing it non-stop and already reached level 12, I truly appreciate you for bringing it to mobile, I love the graphics and especially the lighting effects and also I love how I can feel the weight difference and traction level and power between different cars, I’m looking forward for future updates, we definitely need the Nürburgring and more super cars, the car sounds are amazing but the gear changes don’t sound real in some cars and cars that have DCT in real life sound like they have a manual or a single clutch automatic in the game but other than that I’m totally in love with it. Thank you so much ❤️
