При чем здесь вообще установка кали линукса? У меня больше года система работала штатно и все было хорошо, никаких левых пакетов не ставилось за последнее время и после апдейта перезагружался ноут неоднократно и вдруг перестал работать. Так при чем здесь ваш пост с картинкой и кали линуксом? Первым делом загуглил и перечитал с десяток страниц выдачи что это и с чем связанно, но не могу даже в консоль к себе попасть. Внимательней читайте в след. раз.

Это ЛорОвец классической редакции. Разговаривает только ссылками. Ему кажется, что от этого он выглядит умнее и круче, чем ТС.

Но вообще: первая ссылка в гугле и правда на ЛОРотему про калолинукс. Другое дело, что там, как обычно это с ЛОРом бывает, куча учителей великого Днао вещает о вариантах достижения пингвиньего просветления, а также о том, какой ТС дно, и ни одного внятного ответа на твой вопрос.

Да читал я это и гуглить умею, проблема в том что я в консоль не могу даже попасть стандартными средствами alt+f2 и у меня на входе дикии лаги начинаются и дальше одной буквы не высвечивается на мониторе.

Попробуй в grub выбрать другие ядра и потыкать alt+f2 с ними.

Ну, если и так до консоли добраться не сможешь, тогда даже не знаю. Возможно удастся как-то через grub-овскую консоль что-нибудь нашаманить, но тут я не специалист.

В грубе нажимаешь e и дописываешь к параметрам запуска systemd.unit=rescue.target. А, как попадёшь в консоль, смотришь journalctl -b -1

Вот ты на человека слегка наехал, а где вот эта вся информация, как все раньше работало в самом топике? Про апдейты, перезагрузки. Какая информация изложена, такой и ответ. Надо было сразу писать, как так получилось, при каких обстоятельствах и т . д.

По симптомам и без доп. информации я бы сказал, что у тебя какая-то проблема с видеочипом возникла или с драйвером видео (с ядрёным модулем) при его загрузке. Надо загрузиться в безопасном режиме и глянуть предыдущие логи, что там пишется. Что за видео?

Берёш флешку, делаешь из неё livecd и пробуешь загрузить на ноуте. Если всё ок, то монтируй диск ноута и смотри логи.

I noticed that systemd-update-utmp-runlevel.service has been failing since the last systemd update. My systemd is:

What’s more, after this update I am not able to mount vmware hgfs shares. I’ve got following entry in my /etc/fstab (from arch’s wiki)

It worked just fine. After the update system boots into maintenance mode with the following message found in sysemd-journal:

After commenting hgfs mount entry out the system boots normally.

Mounting hgfs shares manually works as expected

so this issue must be systemd related

You’re probably missing a symlink from /var/run to /run. We need to fix this in core/filesystem, but its not a simple change because it requires user intervention.

I can’t reproduce your problem with mount. Is that the real host? Does it really start with a ‘.’ ?

Sure. The symlink is needed.

Still can’t reproduce this. libmount’s parser does just fine with «.host» as a dummy entry in my /etc/hosts file mapped for an NFS share.

Yep, libmount is probably not a problem, I guess this error comes from vmware’s hgfsmounter

I am just wondering why it worked before (and why manual mount works). Is there anything in systemd mount layer that consumes ‘/’?

systemd calls /bin/mount for anything except the API filesystems.

You might look in /run/systemd/generator for a file mnt-hgfs.mount. Show us what’s in that file, and it will tell us how systemd (or more specifically, the new systemd-fstab-generator) parsed that line. The What=, Where=, Type=, and Options= fields should hopefully reflect correctly what you have in fstab. If they don’t, it’s likely a systemd bug that should be reported upstream. You should be able to work around it in this case by copying that file to /etc/systemd/system and «fixing» it, though I haven’t tested this.

Uggh, I forgot about that new generator. It does appear to be problematic.

And I’m highly suspicious of a function called ‘path_kill_slashes’ that’s called on the source.

Вернулся с дачи домой, решилотзайтив VK, включаю компьютер,а он . не загружается, То есть выскакивает несколько строк, иногда до 2х десятков, и всё замирает. Ждал долго. По «трём клавишам» (Alt+SysRq+B или Ctrl+Alt+Del) перегружается.
Причём, оказалось, что и Jessie, который я оставил — тоже. В конце концов решил загрузиться в режиме восстановления. Загрузился.
Выдал startx — иксы появились. Естественно, от рута. Попробовал перед этим выдать su mik139 — ничего не получилось.
После загрузки иксов обнаружил, что нет сети. То есть ifconfig выдал только l lo. Добавил IP адрес, но внешняя сеть всё равно не доступна. Хотя модем пингуется. Решил посмотреть, что в /etc/resolv.conf — а он недоступен. То есть это ссылка на
/var/run/NetworkManager/resolv.conf, а в /var/run/ каталога NetworkManager НЕТ.
И есть несуществующая ссылка initctl -> /run/systemd/initctl/fifo: в /run/systemd каталога initctl тоже НЕТ.
Проблему временно решил (чтобы написать этот вопрос) переименовав в /etc resolv.conf в resolv.conf1 и скопировав resolv.conf из Jessie со строкой nameserver 8.8.8.8

Но как мне исправить систему и восстановить её нормальную работу?

Debian jessie boot hangs at «Started Update UTMP about System Runlevel Changes.»

I just upgraded my MOBO and CPU on my PC, and now whenever I try and boot my debian install it hangs at [ OK ] Started Update UTMP about System Runlevel Changes. Is there an way I can boot into my old setup with my new hardware without having to completely reinstall?

CPU = AMD Phenom II 965 3.4 Ghz x4 -> AMD FX 8350 4.0 Ghz x8

MOBO = ASUS M4A87TD EVO -> ASUS M5A99FX PRO

There is probably a problem with your video driver. I resolved it by following (modified) instructions at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2072420:

• Press Alt + F2 to switch to a new console
• sudo apt-get purge xserver-xorg-video-intel then reboot
• sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-intel

nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf , remove any present code (if applicable) and enter the following:

Save the file and reboot

Bas van dongen ‘s answer pointed me in the right direction, although in my case it was the nvidia driver that was failing.

First run nvidia-installer —uninstall .

Then follow these instructions for reinstalling the nvidia driver on Jessie

Add jessie-backports to your /etc/apt/sources.list , for example:

Install Linux headers for the kernel you are using.

For example, if you are using the 3.16 Linux kernel in Debian Jessie:

Or if you are already using a Linux kernel from jessie-backports:

Then we can install the package nvidia-driver.

Restart your system to enable the nouveau blacklist.

Boot stopped at «Started Update UTMP about System Runlevel Changes» — headless server. no X

It’s 8:27am. I haven’t slept. I am exhausted. So I’m leaving this here and going to bed. I’ll check it after. Pardon me if I’m slightly south of coherent.

Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS server running on a VPS. Got another VPS on the same host machine, CentOS6. CentOS vps is still chugging along. Ubuntu vps won’t boot. Last change was adding a Virtualmin «virtual server» (really just a separate user with privileges to some daemons). And some fiddling with postfix. Everything I’ve read online says to rip out my graphics drivers and reinstall them. Well I don’t have any graphics drivers cause I don’t have graphics. No X. No window managers. And certainly not intel or nvidia graphics drivers for X.

Closest I’ve come to a sane-sounding solution so far is an semi-ancient forum post about Arch Linux. Same problem caused by a missing symlink from /var/run to /run. Well, I have that symlink. So that’s probably not it. And other than the tremendously unhelpful message above there is nothing to indicate what might be wrong.

Silver lining. vps has an independent VNC feature built into the hypervisor. so I’ve still got terminal access. And I can CTRL + ALT + F2 to get a login prompt on tty2 even with the boot messages are still stuck on tty1. No network connectivity though. A sizable chunk of the systemd services/units haven’t launched. Multiple reboot have produced no meaningful changes.

It does talk about «Reached target Graphical Interface» right before everything goes tits up. But again. no X. And yes, I actually checked to make sure xorg/x11 didn’t get pulled in as a dependency somehow. Screenshot below.
