Android Studio — launch emulator AVD — «unable to locate adb»
When I launch emulator in Android Studio through AVD, it keeps on having this annoying popup «unable to locate avd».
- I’ved removed platform tools and reinstall it under SDK Manager->SDK Tools->Android SDK platform-tools so that its a new avd.exe but it doesnt help.
I am really clueless now how, I would like adb prints coming from the emulator to debug. How can I solve this ?
FYI, I am developing flutter on Android Studio 4.0

I had the same issue as you were facing, I have Researched the Whole Internet but found nothing useful. So, I somehow figured out the problem and fixed it, The problem is at
Whenever we create a new project due to some reason the Module SDK is not set up automatically. Thus the ADB manager was throwing an error ‘Unable to locate AVD’, which is not that fatal as the error/warning is not stopping us from launching /starting the emulator, but it is so annoying to see that pop-up box. So here is my simple and quick fix.
Click on the project folder, tap the dropdown icon just beside it.
Now Navigate to the path below.
> android/app/src/main/java/io/flutter/plugins/GeneratedPluginRegistrant.java
Now Click on the file GeneratedPluginRegistrant.java to open it.
Once it is open, At the Top you will notice a bar that says ‘Module SDK is not defined‘,
Now right against it, you will also see a hyper-text named ‘Setup SDK‘, Just Click on it.
That will open a Pop-up Box with the title ‘Select project SDK‘.
Now select the Android Platform API and then click OK. After that being done Restart your IDE.
Your Problem will be Solved. And you will also notice that Emulator Opens up way faster than before.
NOTE:
The Above Steps has to be performed with every new flutter project.
I have attached some screenshots just follow them.
The Problem
The Below image represents the annoying Popup-box that you encounter while launching the AVD which we are going to fix.
Step 1 : Close the AVD window
Step 2: Navigate to GeneratedPluginRegistrant.java
Step 3: Look for Module SDK not Defined
Step 4: Against to Module SDK click on Setup SDK hyper-text.
Step 5: Select any Android SDK version
Step 7: Restart Android Studio IDE.
After Restart you wont see the Annoying popup box anymore.

Unable to locate ADB Android studio, flutter
I know there is already post about this, but none seems to work for me. Android studio unable to locate ADB. I checked my adb.exe exists in the path folder. I have deleted my McAfee anti virus as well following the advice from before, but not working.

Found the solution. The virtual device api was Android 10+ (30), and I just added another virtual device (Android 10, 30). I don’t see the error any longer 😊👍👍

Android-studio: Unable to locate adb
I use the 4.0 android-studio and Ubuntu 18.04
When I click on «launch this AVD in the emulator», I get an error message «Unable to locate adb». I did look in the Android/Sdk/platform-tools, I have an «adb» executable.
After the «unable to locate adb» error message, the AVD still launches. But, when I try to run my react native app on it, I get the error
error Failed to install the app. Make sure you have the Android development environment set up: https://facebook.github.io/react-native/docs/getting-started.html#android-development-environment. Run CLI with —verbose flag for more details. Error: Command failed: ./gradlew app:installDebug -PreactNativeDevServerPort=8081
I’m pretty sure the react-native part is fine, but that route to the emulator is not the same as before.
It was working before. Yesterday, out of the blue, when I launched my android-studio, it «restarted» (showing me the install wizard, etc), and it seems it messed up its configuration.
EDIT: [bad way] I created a new ubuntu user, re-install android studio + react-native. I still get the error message, still the AVD launches, but now React-native can install the app on it. So, now I can work with my new user, but I did not fix the problem.
EDIT2: [good way] @jpatmore fixed the android-studio part (see his answer). The react-native was still not working. There was probably some parameter of android-studio 3.6 still in the [my project]/android/[gradle or something] I cloned my repo in another folder, do another «npm install», «react-native link», and it was working.

Android Studios error : Unable to locate adb location
I’m new to Android Studios. After trying to press play on my Pixel 3a device emulator on AVD Manager this pops up. Error Message : Unable to locate adb
However my emulator runs just fine, I just can’t run the «flutter run» command and the flutter app on the emulator. Emulator
I’m on Android Studios 4.0. Here’s what I’ve tried so far to solve this issue.
AVG Antivirus I added the adb.exe path in the exception section of my antivirus. AVG Antivirus
Android SDK Location I went to SDK Manager, pressed edit beside the Android SDK Location box. All SDK components are already updated. Android SDK LocationUpdated SDK Components
SDK Platform Tools I unchecked and checked SDK Platform Tools on SDK Tools. Platform Tools
I’ve tried everything but still no luck. It’s been a week and it’s getting really annoying. I really do hope someone can help me. Really much appreciate it. Thanks in advance 😊

I’ve been tearing my hair out about this since I updated to v4.0 about an hour ago! 🙂 This is what worked for me in the end (the other solutions about stopping starting adb server etc. just didn’t work at all). YMMV.
Go into SDK manager, and uninstall :
- Android Emulator
- SDK platform tools
- SDK command line tools
Close SDK manager and/or android studio completely.
Make sure the directories for these tools under AppData/ .. /Sdk have all been removed properly. Just zap them if they haven’t.
Restart Android Studio and re-install all these packages.
I did another stop/restart after this, just to be sure.
Seems that upgrading the existing packages maybe didn’t work properly, even if AS thought it did.
Still seem to be having issues using the geolocator package now (which was working fine before, so thinking this is setup too), but the emulator is starting OK now with no adb issues.

Error:Unable to locate adb within SDK in Android Studio
Does anyone know what this means? When I click the «run» button on my simulator I get this message.

The ADB is now located in the Android SDK platform-tools.
- Check your [sdk directory]/platform-tools directory and if it does not exist, then open the SDK manager in the Android Studio (a button somewhere in the top menu, android logo with a down arrow), switch to SDK tools tab and and select/install the Android SDK Platform-tools.
- Alternatively, you can try the standalone SDK Manager: Open the SDK manager and you should see a «Launch Standalone SDK manager» link somewhere at the bottom of the settings window. Click and open the standalone SDK manager, then install/update the
«Tools > Android SDK platform tools».
If the above does not solve the problem, try reinstalling the tools: open the «Standalone SDK manager» and uninstall the Android SDK platform-tools, delete the [your sdk directory]/platform-tools directory completely and install it again using the SDK manager.
