Несколько лет назад звуковые карты со встроенным FM-тюнером имели достаточно высокую популярность. Однако повсеместная «Creative’зация» для любителей качественного звука в играх с одной стороны и триумфальное шествие встроенного звука для всех остальных с другой (вспоминать в данном контексте о профессиональных звуковых картах, пожалуй, не будем) постепенно привели этот класс устройств к практически полному забвению. Свой вклад внесло и бурное развитие компьютерных TV-тюнеров, опциональное наличие FM-режима в которых, как правило, не приводит к существенному увеличению цены.

Тем не менее, тот же TV-тюнер требует доступа к телевизионной антенне, а успешное сочетание выполнения служебных обязанностей и просмотра телепередач доступно немногим. Технический прогресс осчастливил даже захудалые офисные компьютеры интерфейсом USB с количеством портов, явно превышающим насущные потребности. Реакция рынка не заставила себя ждать, в 2000 году у нас побывал продукт компании D-Link Systems, Inc. Потом наступило затишье. В связи с вышеописанными причинами, бешеной популярности у широких народных масс этот класс устройств не снискал. Что, впрочем, не помешало AVerMedia Technologies Inc. выпустить FM-тюнер с интерфейсом USB, удачно вписавшийся в линейку продуктов компании.

Справедливости ради, отметим, что AVerMedia USB Radio не является «горячей» новинкой. С другой стороны, ввиду определенной консервативности аналогового радиовещания, данное обстоятельство нисколько не снижает потребительских качеств этого устройства.

Комплект поставки

Оранжево-белые тона в оформлении упаковки традиционны для продукции AVerMedia, равно как и прозрачное окошко, не скрывающее от любопытных глаз сам тюнер.

В комплект поставки входят:

• Тюнер
• Антенна, совмещенная со звуковым кабелем (!)
• Руководство по установке (не русифицировано)

Характер тюнера не располагает к наличию дополнительного ПО в комплекте поставки.

Конструкция и спецификации

Для AVerMedia USB Radio заявлены следующие особенности:

• Интерфейс USB 1.1
• Компактный размер (64,41×167,61 мм)
• Запись в формате MP3 с возможностью настройки качества
• Функция Language Learning — настройка скорости воспроизведения записанных файлов
• Редактирование списка каналов
• Поддержка записи по расписанию

Внешне тюнер очень напоминает флэш-драйвы. В пользу этого сравнения можно отметить съемную крышку, закрывающую USB-разъем.

Темно-синяя полупрозрачная вставка в корпусе скрывает две основные микросхемы, отвечающие за работу тюнера.

Хорошее качество работы полупроводникового FM-приемника TEA5767 производства Philips Electronics мы уже отмечали в обзорах MSI TV@nywhere Master MS-8606 и Compro VideoMate TV Gold Plus II.

Работа с интерфейсом USB 1.1 реализована с помощью контроллера CY7C63723 от Cypress Semiconductor Corporation. Отметим, что использование USB 1.1 в данном случае не является недостатком. Пропускной способности более чем достаточно для управления тюнером (передача звука осуществляется отдельным кабелем), а пользователи конфигураций преклонного возраста не будут чувствовать себя обделенными.

Подключение и настройка

Как мы уже отмечали выше, FM-антенна совмещена со звуковым кабелем. Отнести передачу звука посредством отдельного кабеля к однозначным недостаткам мешает возможность использования тюнера в системах без звуковой карты, например, с мультимедийными мониторами.

Установочное меню предельно лаконично.

После установки устройство появляется в непривычном для компьютерных TV- и FM-тюнеров разделе HID (Human Interface Devices).

В системном трее появляется иконка планировщика.

Для работы с тюнером используется программа с непритязательным названием USB Radio.

Сканирование каналов имеет рекордное количество уровней чувствительности — 10 (!), как ни странно, имеющих нумерацию по убыванию. Аналогично протекает и сам процесс сканирования — от больших частот к меньшим. Теоретически, подобрать оптимальный уровень в диапазоне от 10 (strong) до 0 (weak) вполне возможно, на практике же такое богатство сводится к тривиальному редактированию списка радиостанций вручную. Русские названия поддерживаются корректно.

В интерфейсе программы присутствует возможность возврата к предыдущей станции.

Запись возможна в форматах wav и MP3. Максимально доступными параметрами при записи в MP3 являются битрейт 192 Кбит/c и частота дискретизации 48 КГц. В подавляющем большинстве случаев вполне достаточно.

В процессе записи отображаются: имя файла, время и частота станции.

При каждом обращении к закладке звуковых параметров выдается предупреждение о необходимости корректной настройки аудиовхода. Чересчур навязчивая забота.

Здесь же находятся настройки Language Learning, представляющей собой многократное воспроизведение фрагмента записанного файла с заданной скоростью.

По сути, данная функция аналогична Foreign Language Learning Machine у MSI MS-8606, но есть и отличия. Так, промежуток воспроизведения задается непосредственно при прослушивании, а скорость воспроизведения меняется от 0,5 до 1,8 относительно нормальной. Настройки вызываются по нажатию правой кнопки мыши на соответствующей пиктограмме.

В соответствии с заявленными возможностями, в наличии имеется планировщик записи (возможна и настройка на прослушивание эфира).

Какие-либо режимы завершения работы компьютера по окончании запланированного задания отсутствуют.

Качество

Благодаря TEA5767, удается добиться неплохого качества звука. Для скачивания доступны 20-секундные фрагменты, MP3, 192 Кбит/c, 48 КГц.

Несколько удивило то обстоятельство, что AVerMedia USB Radio оказался более требователен к условиям приема, нежели большинство TV-тюнеров с поддержкой FM, независимо от используемого интерфейса. При одинаковом размещении антенны, некоторые станции явно требовали увеличения уровня сигнала.

Заметного увеличения загрузки ЦП при использовании этого тюнера предсказуемо отмечено не было.

Выводы

Несмотря на некоторое неудобство, организация передачи звука посредством отдельного кабеля способствует лучшей совместимости. К тому же, установка USB-контроллера с поддержкой передачи звука могла сказаться на конечной стоимости. В связи с этим, при подведении итогов этот параметр не учитывался.

Попробуем порассуждать о востребованности подобного устройства. В первую очередь, это, конечно же, замена традиционных офисных магнитол (да простят меня руководители). Менее явной целью покупки может оказаться работа в паре с уже имеющимся TV-тюнером. К примеру, приобретающий в последнее время на российском рынке популярность GOTVIEW PCI DVD не имеет FM-режима. И, конечно же, AVerMedia USB Radio может оказаться приятным подарком. Разумеется, доплатив совсем немного, можно найти внутренний TV-тюнер, в том числе, с поддержкой FM. Однако при этом придется забыть о компактности и мобильности, а TV-тюнеры с интерфейсом USB стоят дороже своих PCI-собратьев.
