Change the spaces between text

You can change the spacing between characters of text for selected text or for particular characters. In addition, you can stretch or compress an entire paragraph to make it fit and look the way that you want it to.

Change the spacing between characters

Selecting Expanded or Condensed alters the spacing between all selected letters by the same amount. Kerning alters the spacing between particular pairs of letters — in some cases reducing and in other cases expanding the space depending upon the letters.

Expand or condense the space evenly between all the selected characters

Select the text that you want to change.

On the Home tab, click the Font Dialog Box Launcher, and then click the Advanced tab.

Note: If you’re using Word 2007 the tab is called Character Spacing.

In the Spacing box, click Expanded or Condensed, and then specify how much space you want in the By box.

Kern the characters that are above a particular size

Kerning refers to the way spacing between two specific characters is adjusted. The idea is to give a better looking result by reducing the spacing between characters that fit together nicely (such as «A» and «V») and increasing the spacing between characters that don’t.

Select the text that you want to change.

On the Home tab, click the Font Dialog Box Launcher, and then click the Advanced tab.

Note: If you’re using Word 2007 the tab is called Character Spacing.

Select the Kerning for fonts check box, and then enter the point size in the Points and above box.

Stretch or scale the text horizontally

When you scale the text, you change the shapes of the characters by percentages. You can scale text by stretching it or by compressing it.

Select the text that you want to stretch or compress.

On the Home tab, click the Font Dialog Box Launcher, and then click the Advanced tab.

Note: If you’re using Word 2007 the tab is called Character Spacing.

In the Scale box, enter the percentage that you want.

Percentages above 100 percent stretch the text. Percentages below 100 percent compress the text.

Change the line spacing

To increase or decrease the amount of vertical space between lines of text within a paragraph, the best method is to modify the style the paragraph uses.

Find the style you’re using in the Styles gallery on the Home tab.

Right-click the style you want to change and select Modify.

Near the center of the dialog box you’ll find the line spacing buttons that let you select single, 1.5x or double spaced. Choose the spacing you want to apply and click OK.

If you’d like to apply more specific line spacing to the style, clickthe Format button at the bottom left corner of the Modify Style dialog box and select Paragraph. The Line spacing drop-down lets you select or set more specific line spacing.

The architect Martin Melanson, commissioned to build a theater, meets a woman named Clara, outside of his apartment complex at night. Attracted to each other, they visit the theater’s building site. While they explore the unfinished stage, surrounded by scaffolds and lost in thought, reality slowly fades, where the curtain opens and a dark play about closeness and separation begins.

The game’s drawn-out, static nature, embedded in blurred PS1 visuals, supports its surreal plot and dialogues to create a dreamlike 40 — 50 minute experience, that should be played in one sitting.

The Winners Of The 2020 IGF And GDC Awards Announced!

The winners for the 22nd annual Independent Games Festival (IGF) Awards have been revealed, with A Short Hike by Adam Robinson-Yu winning the Seumas McNally Grand Prize for Best Independent Game. Held as a virtual live-stream event following the postponement of the Game Developers Conference, the awards recognize the most innovative and best independent games from the past year.

The categories range from excellence in visual art, audio, design, narrative, best student game, The Nuovo Award which honours the title which makes the jurors ‘think differently about games as a medium’, and the community decided audience award, which also went to the grand prize winner A Short Hike.

Check out all the winners below, which include unique indie titles such as the colorful co-op adventure game Knights And Bikes, the «mutant soap opera» adventure game Mutazione and the archaeological science-fiction narrative driven game Heaven’s Vault.

The winners of the the 20th annual Game Developers Choice Awards have also been announced as part of the same live-stream as the IGF awards, with several indie games taking out awards next to huge Triple-A titles.

The internet phenomenon Untitled Goose Game by House House took out Game of the Year, while developer Hempuli won Best Design and the Innovative Award for their puzzle game Baba Is You, and the mind-bending detective adventure game Disco Elysium was awarded Best Narrative and Best Debut game.

Fix space between desktop icons in Windows 10

After my upgrade to Windows 10 1909, I noticed large spaces between my desktop icons. A lot of things can be set in the settings of Windows 10, but not the spaces in between. In this blog post, I show how you can easily restore or adjust the spaces between your desktop icons.

Fix large spaces between desktop icons

1. Click Start -> type Registry Editor -> Click Registry Editor.
   
   
2. In Registry Editor, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER ->ControlPanel ->Desktop ->WindowMetrics.
3. In WindowsMetrics, double click IconSpacing.
4. In the Edit String window, set the Value Data to -1650. (in my case, the faulty value was -3300, but yours may be different. In any way, -1650 is reasonable.).
5. Click OK.
6. In WindowsMetrics, double click IconVerticalSpacing.
7. In the Edit String window, set the Value Data to -1200. (in my case, the faulty value was -3300, but yours may be different. In any way, -1200 is reasonable.).
8. Click OK.
9. Log out from Windows 10 and log in again. A reboot will do too. (But first: bookmark this site. If this solution didn’t solve your issue, maybe another solution below might fix your problem!).

After logging in again, the spaces between the icons should be smaller.

Change size of desktop icons

You may want to change the size of the desktop icons. While the font size may be just right for you, the icon size may be:

• Too small, which makes them unclear.
• Too large, which cause them to use much desktop space.

Here’s how to change the size of desktop icons

1. Hover your cursor over an empty place on the desktop. So that’s practically any place on your desktop where there’s no application.
   (Or press Windows+D to minimize all open Windows. This will do too.)
2. Hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard. And scroll your mouse wheel up and down to scale the icons.

Change size of text, apps and desktop icons

If you experience text and icons to be too small, it may be desirable to increase the scale. In this way, you keep the best resolution for your monitor, while making it readable without glasses.

Here’s how to change the scale

1. Right-click your desktop/wallpaper and choose Display Settings.
2. In Display, select the monitor you want to adjust.
3. Scroll down to Scale and Layout.
4. In the box Change the size of text, apps, and other items, select a larger scale.
