Here you’ll find scripts allowing you to build a .deb package from your Windows installer for Beyond Good & Evil. You can install it through DPKG and remove it through any APT front-end (apt-get, aptitude, synaptic, etc.).

Well, okay. Thank you so much for looking into it. When the cutscene plays, there is no audio in some of them.
However, it seemed to fix it, when I got to some new cutscenes in the story, there was no audio.
I think I’m unto something, at least there is no audio looping anymore.
I still feel like there is a slight audio delay during some cutscenes, but I need to check if it is specific to the French version I used for my tests.
Anyway, enough for today, I’ve seen the first cutscenes far too many times for a single evening 😉

I’ve been trying to get this script to work for several days. I don’t know that much about Linux. I put the three files in the same directory and ran
It created two files, and told me to run this:
sudo apt install «/home/user/.local/share/Beyond Good and Evil/beyond-good-and-evil-data_1.0-gog2.1.0.9+20180224.1_all.deb» «/home/user/.local/share/Beyond Good and Evil/beyond-good-and-evil_1.0-gog2.1.0.9+20180224.1_i386.deb
I ran that command and was told that the user _apt did not have download privileges.
I searched around and found this:
I created the user _apt and added it to the appropriate directory.
Now when I run the install command I get this:

First at all: I tested it on my setup only. That is Win10 x64 & NVidia GF 970 GTX. I cannot guarantee that it will work for every other card — but two lesser NVidias that I had access of, worked too. So I am assuming that it’s good for Nvidia cards in general. At least.
1. First EXE to start is CheckApplication.exe. It needs to be set to Windows XP SP3 compatibility. If you try to start SettingApplication.exe before starting successfully CheckApplication at least once, you’ll get «Game is not installed» message. Same about bge.exe. And if you start Check without compatibility settings, you’ll get «Cannot write into registry» message.
2. As CheckApplication is the main launcher, you can run everything thru it actually, after settings are set. But if you want to run settings and bge.exe separately, you need to set the same compatibility settings for this exes too. Otherwise they wouldn’t be able to access registry to read settings (again, I am highlighting that if you start game thru CheckApplication.exe, it not matters, as settings for this exe applied to everything it starts).
3. At the settings screen you have four tabs: Graphics Settings (videocard and resolution), Control (safe-explainable), Sound (not need to be set usually) and Advanced.
You need to go to Advanced tab.
Here you need to do two things:
a) Crank up every «Performance» setting, except Antialiasing. Antialiasing must be off on that screen. (You can force AA in the card driver settings, if you want).
b) Turn on «Manual Compatibility settings» part at right, and enable every possible setting. Do not turn it off! And do not press «Autodetect», it does not good on modern systems anyway!
4. Press «save», then start the game with «play» and check the performance of the first (unskippable) cutscene. If you are lucky, sound must be more or less synched with the lips (I never seen _exact_ match sounds with the lips, but it’s matter of ms. In bad case it will be whole _seconds_), and there are no graphic glitches (check the forward plan tree, right after camera goes down — it’s very glitchy if something is wrong).
5. Optionally, go to this discussion and download Idarion’s widescreen fix in the first post. Additionally, it will fix problems with missing fonts with alt+tab too.

I just wanted to mention, that I own the game on Uplay and Steam now. I bought the Steam version extra for this guide and therefore I just tested the Uplay version with these settings.
It is also a compilation of a lot of different mods and guides, and I want to thank everyone who contributed a piece of this puzzle.
You will need the following two mods:
The ENB Mod uploaded by CaptainSkullsaber
Important: If you just downloaded the game, you have to run it once, that Steam installs DirectX 9.0c. If there are still dx9 problems, extract the Redist directory from the Widescreen fix and execute DXSETUP.exe
At first you have to install the ENB-Mod by simply drag and dropping the files into the game folder.
Then start the SettingsApplication, don’t care about the resolution, because it will be handled by the «widescreen fix» later.
The settings may be in german in the screenshot, but they are on the same spot in all the other languages.
Start the game for a quick check, if the mod has been registered by the game. You will see an information showing up in the top left corner.
Choose a language and quit the game.
For the next step, I’ve just found a guide for Nvidia to prevent texture flickering.
Open the Nvidia Control Panel, go to the 3D-Settings, and choose the program settings tab.
In the dropdown menu select «BANG! — Gunship Elite(bge.exe)», if the Steam version uses a different exe-file name please let me know.
- Antialiasing Mode = Override any application setting (If it’s not already set)
- Maximum pre-rendered frames = 1
- Monitor Technology = Fixed Refresh (not available for everyone, G-Sync related)
- Texture Filtering — Negative LOD bias = Clamp
For the next step, I suggest to use my enbseries-file [webfischi.npage.de] but you can also play with the settings on your own, by opening it with Notepad++.
If you think you created an enbseries.ini which looks better, feel free to share. If you want to know what every setting in this file is doing, check the PRESET DESCRIPTION links from the documentation website [enbdev.com]
Give the game a second run, check for the information in the top left corner, if it’s missing extract the d3d9.dll from the enb package a second time into the game folder.
If the mod is working, run a new game or load a save game, and check if everythings running smooth.
Note: There is an issue with particles (especially leave particles) I couldn’t fix, if you have a solution for that, please let me know.
The settings available for download have been set up for an i7-4770, GTX 770, Windows 10 x64 Version 1607 and has also been tested with a GTX 1070 and Windows 10 x64 Version 1703
When you took the ENB Mod for a test drive, you may be annoyed pretty fast by those horrible black bars at the top and bottom and crimped chars.
Until this day you could only play the game widescreen with a lot of stuttering, or play the game smooth in this horrible aspect ration, or use a 4:3 monitor.
I’ve finally reached a «widescreen fix» creator which added an option to use both.
Open the game folder, and rename the working «d3d9.dll» from the ENB mod into «d3d9_proxy.dll»
Extract the files of the «widescreen fix» into the game folder and open BGEResolutionSettings.exe to choose your resolution and refresh rate.
If you now start the game, it will open in the correct aspect ratio with very small letterbox in 1080p and the ENB Mod for high refresh rate and minimal audio desync.

Одна только Джейд — военный корреспондент — отправляется узнать истинную причину бомбардировки. В счете того, что правительство никак не реагирует на захват и истребление, мы обязаны выяснить, уничтожить врага и освободить планету от захватчиков в Beyond Good and Evil.
Всю игру нам предстоит принимать первое участие в заговорах пришельцев через свою фотокамеру. Поскольку по сюжету мы вступаем в повстанческую организацию «Сеть ИРИС», то с нами по локациям передвигаются: опекун Пей“Дж, гуманоид-кабан и корреспондент Аш-Два.
Разработчики заявили, что название игры — это ключ от сюжетной развязки. Игрок сам будет решать: на стороне добра он, или его действия помогут захватчикам сделать с планетой Хиллис всё, что они захотят.
Весь геймплей сделан на идее передвижения между локациями, где игрок будет сражаться с захватчиками ДумЦ — инопланетной расой. Иногда нам потребуется просто зафиксировать то, что делают представители другой цивилизации, а иногда вступать с ними в переговоры. Общая протяженность игры — 4-6 часов, в зависимости от поворота сюжета. Также стоит учитывать особенность мира. Хиллис — это планета рудокопов, которые всю жизнь умело пользовались технологиями электронной почты и кредитными карточками, но жили в домах в стиле европейских деревень.
В конце игры Джейд раскрывает правительственный заговор и вы делаете выбор: спасти планету или позволить ей стать руинами.
