FIX: A problem has occurred in BitDefender threat scanner

A problem has occurred in BitDefender Threat Scanner. A file containing information. A file containing error information has been created at c:\windows\temp\BitDefender Threat Scanner.dmp. You are strongly encouraged to send the file to the developers of the application for further investigation of the error.

The pop up points to a Threat Scanner.dmp file which is unreadable in notepad (in most cases). If the pop up is left then your computer will restart after a while.

The reason of this error is the Spybot’s corrupted file. Usually one of its dll files gets corrupted that causes this issue.

Method 1: Run the PATCH

Since this is a known issue, BitDefender has a patch to fix it.

  1. Figure out the version of your OS see Method 4 (here). Then download and run the patch below corresponding to your Operating System architecture.
  2. For 32bit operating systems run this patch.
  3. For 64bit operating systems run thispatch.

Method 2: Fixing corrupted files

  1. Click Start (bottom left corner) and select File Explorer. For windows 7, click start and select Computer or My Computer.
  2. Type C:\Program Files (x86)\Spybot – Search & Destroy 2 in the address bar located on the top of the screen.
  3. Locate the file named SDAV.dll
  4. If you cannot find the file then go here and download the file from there.
  5. Once the download is finished. Locate the downloaded file. Right click then select copy.
  6. Go to the Spybot – Search and Destroy 2 folder (repeat step 2)
  7. Right click and select paste in the Spybot – Search & Destroy 2 folder
  8. If the file is already present then check the size of the file. To do that, right click on dll and select properties
  9. If the size is not 32KB then go here and download the file from there.
  10. Follow the steps from 5 to 7. But after you click paste, select replace the file in the destination.

Method 3: Remove and Reinstall

To fix this issue, follow the steps below:

  1. Go (here)
  2. Download the BitDefender Removal Tool.
  3. Run it, execute it and remove BitDefender.
  4. Re-download BitDefender and install it.

Помогите найти концы. Откуда это **** взялось.

В установленных программах его нет. На диске С по поиску defender не находит ничего.

В реестре по поиску defender нет ни одной записи.

Антивирусом нод 32 прогнал. С флешки портативную винду запустил прогнал докторвебом — ничего.

Что это и как от него избавиться.

Я поступил проще. Отыскал в журнале событий системы эту ошибку. Удалил запись реестра, которая в этой ошибке фигурировала.

Spybot Search and Destroy у меня стоит. После удаления записи в реестре была не одна перезагрузка.

Спайбот проверил на работоспособность — отрабатывает корректно.

Вопрос только в том остался — откуда эта запись взялась.

Никакого ПО в системе (кроме того, что у меня стояло всегда) нет.

You are strongly encouraged to send the file to the developers of the application for further investigation of the error.» ( I have snipped and inserted a copy of the error miesage.) There is a file in my C drive at C\WINDOWA\TEMP\BitDefender Threat Scanner.dmp. Everytime I get the error message to disappear, it reappears and so does the file in the C

Drive. The message sits in front of all of the other windows and is extremely irritating! Help!!

I have this problem too March 11th I bought and downloaded spybot 2.6 professional. really lame because now I have nothing but problems. I’m running windows 10. I have tried to contact spybot with no luck. so the only alternative I can think of is to uninstall it. SUGGESTIONS ANYONE. S atchmo, did you find a solution?

[Fix] BitDefender Threat Scanner .dmp Error in Windows

Every time you shutdown or restart your computer, you may encounter the following error message titled “BitDefender Threat Scanner”. Here is the full error message verbatim:

This error can occur even though you don’t have BitDefender Antivirus installed on your computer, but have one of these antivirus programs installed:

According to av-comparatives.org‘s List of AV Vendors page, the above programs use BitDefender anti-virus scan engine. Note that some programs on that list use multiple scan engines in addition to BitDefender’s. Many anti-virus programs combine the Bitdefender engine with their own technology.

[Fix] BitDefender Threat Scanner .dmp Error in Windows

If you use “Spybot Search & Destroy”

Spybot Search & Destroy uses BitDefender engine but it’s not listed on the above av-comparatives.org page. If you’re using Spybot Search & Destroy, use the following steps to fix the BitDefender Threat Scanner.dmp error:

  • Open File Explorer and browse the Spybot program folder:
  • Check if a 32Kb file named SDAV.dll is present. Spybot KB says that this file may have been removed accidentally by another antivirus or security suite installed on your computer.
  • If the file is not present, download this file from “Missing Files” page on the SpyBot S&D website and copy the file into your Spybot folder.
  • If the file is present, please check the file to see if it is the same size as the downloaded file. (32KB). If the file has been corrupted, please replace it with the downloaded file.

Completely Uninstall and Custom Install Spybot S&D

In case the above steps don’t resolve the problem, follow these steps listed by Spybot S&D support team, as quoted by user “Marcel” on Spybot S&D support forums. Posting that info below:

If you are using the Free Edition, please uninstall then reinstall Spybot. Before uninstalling Spybot, it is recommended to undo Immunization to avoid issues with the uninstallation process.

It is also recommended to view Spybot’s Quarantine to restore any items you would like to keep that were detected by Spybot. Once Spybot is uninstalled, these files cannot be restored. After Spybot has been uninstalled it is recommended to delete the following folders:

Please note that the ProgramData Folder is hidden. If you can’t find this folder, please check your folder properties to ensure hidden files/folders are displayed on your PC:

  • Open Windows Explorer (or any folder).
  • Click on “Organise”, then go to “Folder and search options”.
  • Click on “View”, then select “Show Hidden Files, Folders and Drives”.

You should then restart your PC for the changes to take effect.

When you reinstall Spybot please go through with a Custom Installation. To do this, select the option for “I want more control, more feedback and more responsibility” in the Installation & Usage Mode page of the Setup.

Next, untick the box beside “Files necessary for antivirus scanning” in the Select Components window of the installer then complete the installation of Spybot. This should prevent the Bitdefender file from being installed which will stop this error from occurring.

For further help on this matter, open a support ticket with official Spybot S&D Anti-malware and Antivirus Technical Support.
