Windows 10 Handsfree Bluetooth not working
Hello I recently upgraded from 8.1 to 10 and am learning all the new things but when I try to connect my phone to my pc via Bluetooth it doesn’t enter the hands free mode like it did with windows 8.
So basically connecting my phone with Bluetooth is doing absolutely nothing
I cant do anything now, I use to be able to play music from my phone through my pc speakers via Bluetooth and I could make phone calls on my pc which I cant do now.
Please tell me how I can fix this.

We also thank you for your interest in Windows 10.
The reason might be that your Bluetooth drivers may not be compatible with Windows 10.
Download the latest Bluetooth driver from the manufacturer’s website and check if the issue is resolved.
If the issue still persist, try compatibility mode from the following steps.
Step 1: Download the latest driver from the manufacturer’s website.
Step 2: Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘properties’.
Step 3: Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 8 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation.
Step 4: Restart the computer and check if the issue persists .
Hope this helps!

Apology for the delay in response.
Did you tried connecting the Bluetooth device to some other PC?
Follow this method, if you’re able to see Bluetooth driver in Device Manager.
a) Open run command by pressing Windows key + R and type “devmgmt.msc” (without quotes) and hit Enter.
b) Spot and expand the Bluetooth driver, right-click and select “Uninstall” then restart the system. Let the system install the driver automatically on Start.
Keep us posted for any concerns with windows, we’re glad to assist you.

Windows 8, 8.1 Bluetooth Hands free Service problem
I have found a bit of a snag with Windows 8 & 8.1. For you see, I use Bluetooth to remotely control my Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000, and take advantages of the hands free capability on Windows XP and Windows -7.
However, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 dose not support this; or it’s disabled, whatever it is it’s quite strange. And I am pretty much sure it’s not the phone’s driver problem or even particular Bluetooth drivers problem, as I can see it from the device properties I have an option to enable it.
I am using an Intel’s Bluetooth driver and I’ve seen the same problem happening with Broadcom and other drivers as well. so it’s within the OS.
Could you guys help me find a viable solution to enable this service on my laptop running ( Windows 8 ) to my phone .
As you can see there is no such services are showing on the service window.
Thanks in advance,

I came here researching the same problem. While most support posts elicit a response to the effect that it’s an Intel issue, a little browsing suggests that Microsoft disabled this feature in Windows 8 entirely. A cynic might suspect that they did it to encourage adoption of the Windows phone, but that theory depends on whether the hands free feature works in that scenario. Either way, it’s annoying—the gateways are clearly there.
No. Windows Phone 8 also got this problem in this scenario. I hope Microsoft can solve this issue quickly.

I also have the same problem because I recalled that my laptop on Windows 7 a long time ago was able to use my Laptop as a speakerphone for my cell phone.
Now I was attempting to connect my Lumia 925 — Windows 8.1 Cyan to my Laptop which was upgraded to Windows 8.1 Pro x64 and just like the Original Poster says I do see that Handsfree Telephony Gateway is enabled but don’t see it on the Bluetooth Device Control.
I did check my Laptop has the latest Windows Update and also has the latest Bluetooth software via this link:
I don’t know Windows 8.1 removed that feature because it was working okay in Windows 7.

Sup , knowing this thread is over a year old ill drop my 2 cents , hoping to spur on conversation.
1) imho I just don’t think Intel cares about their Bluetooth device control services suite ,beyond hooking up the odd headset or two. They seem to trying hard to push their widi which I haven’t got to work on anything.
2) Broadcoms Bluetooth suite works really good on win 7 and xp . If you can get past the compatibility issue in Win 8 it will give you half hearted Bluetooth options. I would like to report that Remote keyboard and mouse work fine, no hands free calling but a little mouse pops up on the phone screen and I can control it.
maybe ill start a new conversation , a new post . It really does work well with the Broadcom chipset under Win7. and maybe we will get there with Win8. : tested with intel dual 7260 ac bt ,Broadcom’s bcm4352hmb and GBu521 ( which has the same hardware as the adapter)
