Само собой разумеется, что появление синих экранов смерти либо при загрузке Windows, либо в работающей системе, да еще и с выдачей сообщений вроде «A problem has been detected and Windows…», любого пользователя заставляет задуматься над тем, почему это происходит и как устранить возникшие сбои, применяя для этого простейшие методы. К сожалению, выявить истинную причину такого поведения компьютера сразу удается далеко не всегда. Дело в том, что сам синий экран может содержать только описание проблемы и стоп-код без четкого объяснения, почему это случилось, не говоря уже об информации о проблемном устройстве. Хорошо, если внизу экрана имеется ссылка на какой-то файл драйвера, по которому сразу можно определить, что послужило причиной сбоя. Но что делать, если таких указаний нет? Попробуем разобраться в сложившейся ситуации и рассмотрим наиболее действенные методы их исправления.

Причины появления синего экрана («A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer»)

Для начала давайте разберемся, что именно означает появление этого сообщения. Если его перевести, получается, что в системе была обнаружена проблема, и работа Windows во избежание повреждения компьютера была прекращена. Что за этим стоит, часто понять очень сложно, однако все сбои условно можно разделить на аппаратные и программные. К проблемам с аппаратной частью (установленным оборудованием) чаще всего относят сбои в работе или поломки, связанные с основными компонентами компьютера (жесткие диски, оперативная память, видеокарты, системы охлаждения и т. д.).

Что касается сбоев программных, чаще всего к появлению экранов с сообщением «A problem has been… and Windows…» приводит некорректная работа драйверов устройств (причем далеко не всегда именно графических ускорителей), некоторых важных служб самих операционных систем, повреждение системных файлов и библиотек, воздействие вирусов и т. д.

Проверка аппаратной части компьютера

Как правило, большинство специалистов рекомендует начать устранение проблем с чистки компьютера от пыли и засорения (это в первую очередь относится к стационарным системным блокам, а не к ноутбукам). Попробуйте хотя бы удалить пыль при помощи самого обычного пылесоса, установив мощность всасывания на самый минимум, какой только возможен, а то можно повредить некоторые важные компоненты на материнской плате.

Неплохо заодно посмотреть на характеристики блока питания и установленную систему охлаждения. Синий экран с уведомлением «A problem has been detected…» как раз и может появляться в случае нехватки для некоторых компонентов питания или их перегрева при ненадлежащем охлаждении (чаще всего такие проблемы наблюдаются с процессорами и графическими адаптерами). Скачки напряжения тоже могут приводить к сбоям в работе оборудования.

Очень часто появление синего экрана, сопровождаемое сообщением «A problem has been detected and Windows…», специалисты связывают с нарушениями в работе оперативной памяти.

Проверить ее можно стандартным средством диагностики Windows (mdsched) или при помощи утилиты Memtest86/86+, которую можно записать на съемный носитель и загрузить еще до старта системы.

Не менее распространенными являются и проблемы с жесткими дисками, когда на них присутствует слишком много сбойных или нестабильных секторов и ошибок, или они просто начали выходить из строя, отслужив свой срок.

Как определить точную причину сбоя?

Как уже было сказано выше, если после сообщения «A problem has been detected and Windows…» имеется ссылка на какой-то файл, чаще всего представляющий собой сбойный драйвер, устранением проблем можно заняться немедленно. Но для случаев, когда присутствует только стоп-код, определить «виновника» такого поведения системы можно и по нему.

Оптимальным вариантом считается использование программы BlueScreenView, в которой нужно нажать ссылку AppCrashView, после чего и будет выдано подробное описание проблемы.

Для обнаружения проблем, связанных с перегревом оборудования, следует воспользоваться утилитами вроде AIDA64 (бывший Everest), CPU-Z, GPU-Z и им подобными, а перенастроить систему охлаждения можно за счет использования программы SpeedFan.

Что делать, если сообщение «A problem has been detected and…» выскакивает в работающей системе постоянно?

Если вышеуказанных приложений под рукой нет, желательно по возможности извлекать из материнской платы основные компоненты (планки памяти, звуковые и сетевые карты и т. д.), после чего проверять загрузку системы. Кстати, такая методика позволяет достаточно просто выявить и нерабочие планки памяти, если их установлено несколько.

Программные сбои и методы их устранения

Наконец, рассмотрим некоторые методы избавления от синего экрана «A problem has been detected and Windows…» путем устранения программных сбоев. Очень часто они связаны именно с драйверами устройств. Если автоматизированных программ для установки или обновления управляющего ПО (Driver Booster, SlimDrivers, DriverMax, DriverPack Solution) у пользователя нет, в самом простом случае можно попытаться переустановить сбойный драйвер в «Диспетчере устройств».

В случае возможного наличия обновленного драйвера, который теоретически мог бы вызвать появление такой проблемы, тут же можно выполнить откат.

Само собой разумеется, что иногда даже отсутствие свободного места в системном разделе может провоцировать появление таких ошибок и сбоев. На всякий случай почистите диск «С», причем так, чтобы свободным оказалось пространство на уровне 5-10 % от его общего размера.

Для жестких дисков иногда бывает необходимо переключить контроллер SATA в режим IDE вместо AHCI в настройках BIOS/UEFI. В некоторых случаях также дает результат полный сброс настроек или обновление прошивки первичных систем.

Наконец, проверьте систему на вирусы, используя для этого портативные сканеры или загрузочные утилиты, в общем случае обозначаемые как «Rescue Disk», с которых можно загрузить интерфейс антивируса вместо Windows и выполнить углубленное сканирование, включая скрытые области жесткого диска и оперативную память.

Getting The Body Down

After your character’s initial investigation into the crime scene, Kim will state that an autopsy should be performed. To do that, the body needs to come down from the tree. There are several ways to accomplish this:

• Your character will need to pass a Physical Instrument check on the body itself when pulling on its boots
• Your character will need to pass a Hand/Eye Coordination check after borrowing Kim’s gun and trying to shoot the body down
• You’ll need to convince a character named Measurehead to help

Measurehead is a large tattooed man who stands on the catwalk overlooking the harbor gates, which is at the end of the street northeast of the hotel.

If you need Measurehead, there are three ways to convince him to help:

• Speak to him and succeed a difficult Physical Instrument check to force him to help
• Speak to him and agree to listen to his views on race
• Speak to his boss and convince him to pressure Measurehead into helping you

Listening to Measurehead’s views on race

If you choose to acquire Measurehead’s help by listening to his views on race, you’ll need to cycle through all his dialogue choices before getting the option to do so. Then, you’ll get a thought in the Thought Closet called Advanced Race Theory. Equip the thought, then kill time however you wish, whether you read or perform other quests.

Once the thought is finalized, keep it equipped, then return to Measurehead. Tell him you’ve thought about it, and he’ll ask what your final opinion on race is. No matter what you answer, he’ll help, but he’ll force you to stand guarding a button while he does the work.

Speaking to Measurehead’s boss

If you don’t want listen to Measurehead’s views on race and can’t physically force him, you can still get help from Measaurehead’s boss. His boss is named Evrart Claire, and he’s an important player in the entire case. During the conversation with Evrart, you will have a chance to directly ask him to order Measurehead to help. Please see the Talk to Evrart Claire page for details on getting into the harbor and speaking to him.

Performing the Autopsy

No matter how it’s accomplished, once the body is down, you can interact with it to perform a field autopsy with Kim. Depending on the timing and what other information you learn about the case, the autopsy may go a little differently. Either way, performing the autopsy is done through the dialogue box with Kim.

After that, you’ll need to interact with the body and have it taken away to processing. This can be done anytime and does not need to be done immediately. In fact, if you want the boots, you’ll need to leave the body on the ground, wait until Kim leaves you at 22:00, steal the boots, sleep, then ask Kim to remove the body. Either way, Kim will leave your side for the rest of the day once the request is given and will rejoin you the next morning.

If Kim has left your side, you can still continue working on the main case or any Side Quests if you want, but some checks may be more difficult without Kim’s help and guidance. You may want to time it so you give the order Kim very late in the day so you’re not without him for very long.

One of Disco Elysium‘s first tasks turns out to be one of the trickiest: get the victim’s hanged body down from the tree you found it in. We take you through the multiple ways to bring it down, as well as how to get past Measurehead, the thug stopping you from getting into the harbor.

Warning: The following contains minor spoilers for Disco Elysium.

How to Get the Body Down

There are two ways to get the body down: shoot the belt supporting it so that it drops from the tree, or go see Evrart Claire the Union Leader and ask him to send some workers to do it. If you want to do the latter, you’ll have to get past Measurehead, the seven-foot tall racial supremacist guarding the button to open the harbor door. There’s several ways to do that, but we’ll go over the alternative first.

How to Shoot the Hanged Body Down

Once you’ve studied the corpse to your satisfaction, you can study it with Kim and decide that the best way might be to just try and shoot the belt holding it up. Kim will always try to do it first, but he’ll fail — it’s a difficult shot, after all. You can then choose to give it a go yourself, taking the gun from him. This will prompt a fairly difficult Hand/Eye Coordination check, but you can always leave, raise the stat and try later.

When you do take the shot, do not respond to the taunts from Cuno and Cunoesse in any way. They’re just trying to distract you, and even telling them to shut up will make things a lot worse. Take the shot, and if you succeed, the corpse will drop, prompting the opportunity for a high-five moment with Kim. You can choose to do Ace’s High or Ace’s Low, but the second one is better in every sense, giving you more of a bonus.

How to Get Past Measurehead into the Harbor

The other option is to get to Evrart Claire and request help, but he’s well guarded in his harbor office. There’s three ways to get to him: find an alternate path, get on Measurehead’s good side, or just take him down like the Kung-Fu master you clearly are.

How to Sneak Around Measurehead

Claire’s guard is posted at the only known entrance to the harbor, but there is a second one, if you’re sharp-eyed and brave enough. In the yard where the body is hanging, go to the right where there’s a bunch of wood pallets stacked against the wall. Passing a perception check reveals a door behind: Cuno’s secret hideout.

Go up the ladder onto the roof, and you’ll see a coat hanging off a railing above you. It’s your coat, as a matter of fact, and it’ll prompt the option to try and jump off the roof onto the walkway. This is a Savoir-Faire check, so if you’re wearing those green snakeskin shoes, it might be better to take them off first. If you make it, you’ll land on the walkway and Kim will follow. Grab the coat, and now it’s a straight line to Claire as you walk through the harbor.

How to Convince Measurehead to Let You Through

So full disclosure: you do actually have to become a racist for this to work, or at least your character will. Speak to him about his beliefs, and when he’s done talking, you can try a relatively easy Conceptualisation check to «subscribe to his advanced race theory.» If you’re successful, you’ll get a new thought for your Thought Cabinet called appropriately enough, Advanced Race Theory. Internalize it (that’ll take an hour and forty minutes, in-game) and come back to him, whereupon you’ll have the dialogue options to get him to let you through the office door behind you. You can forget this thought later by spending another skill point, but Kim won’t likely be impressed by your time spent as a eugenics enthusiast, and frankly he’s not wrong to think that.

How to Fight Measurehead

This is the good one, honestly, and the easiest one to deduce at the very least. Approach Measurehead, get into a dialogue — and choose to «Knock him out,» a formidable skill check that challenges your «Physical Instrument.» It’s difficult, but there are a few ways to make it easier:

• Talk to the scab leader down below about Measurehead.
• If you have a high intellect, you can poke holes in his race theory in dialogue and make him uncertain.
• Find the White Tank Top, a clothing item that gives you +1 Physical Instrument when worn. It’s in a crate in one of the lorries, just South from the warped statue.

If you fail the check, he’ll put you in a lock and tell you to admit you’re a drunk before letting you go. If you refuse, he’ll do physical damage to you. It’s generally a humbling experience.

However, if you succeed, you won’t lay him out instantly, just hurt him enough to put him in a vulnerable position. At this moment, you have a choice, but only one thing will succeed — you’ll have to spin-kick the racist. Select that option, and you’ll do a magnificent jump attack that knocks him out cold, allowing you press the button that opens the door to the office behind you.

Go through it to the walkway, then through the harbour, over the containers until you reach Evrart Claire’s office. There’ll be a fair amount of dialogue with him, but after a while you can ask him to send men to get down the body. He’ll relay the message to Measurehead, who will have regained consciousness by the time you get back. Don’t worry — he won’t attack you, just talk to him when you want the body lowered and he’ll handle it.
