Download the Brother Printer Driver Installer for Linux

First, Choose Driver Install Tool
Then Select the Language: English or English (China)
The Driver Installation Script is the Same for All Brother Printers!

Double-Click on Archive Extract into /tmp

Or from Command Line:

Open Terminal Window
Ctrl+Alt+t
(Press “Enter” to Execute Commands)

Give Execution Permission

If Got “User is Not in Sudoers file” then see: How to Enable sudo

Installing Brother Printer Drivers

When Prompted Insert ‘HL-1110/R’ as Brother Printer Model!

Then the Installer will Provide Automatically to Download and Install the Printer and potentially also the Scanner Drivers…
Again following the CLI wizard, when Prompted about a Device URI:

• For a USB Connection Simply Enter “n”!
• For a Network Shared Connection Setup Go to: http://localhost:631/printers/
  Select the Printer
  Select “Modify Printer”
  Enter Your sudo Username & Pass
  Select the Protocol and Continue…
  For Help see Instructions on:
  http://localhost:631/help/network.html

Finally, Go to System Settings and Add Printer

[SOLVED] Configure printer Brother HL-1110R

Hello! I can’t configure this printer.

By default in cups there are no drivers for hl-1110R(and for HL-1118 too, it has the same drivers).

I found only tutorials about other models of brother printer(https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Brother_HL-2030).
I tried to install foomatic-filters and search drivers on openprinting.org. And did not found any drivers.
Then I tried to install rpm package for this printer and run cupswrapper script. It didn’t work.
And then I tried to select *.ppd file from rpm package in cups «Add printer» menu. It didn’t work too.

I don’t know what to do next. Anyone had same problems?

At least Brother supports Linux

If you cannot find a suitable driver try a Generic PCL6 or Postscript driver

Yes. I downloaded drivers from the official site, unpacked rpm and tried to manually install drivers the same way as http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bs … prn1a.html.
But when I tried to print something, it printed nothing and the printing status was «stopped»

PCL6 is not supported by my printer.
Today I’ll try Postscript driver.

I could not see what was supported, but I have a similar Samsung printer, and I use the Generic PCL6 driver. Other Brother printers seem to support PCL5 at least

I made a packagebuild for this printer.
I cannot test this myself because I don’t own one.
Can you test this for me please.

Hello, thank you for help.

I installed your package, printer driver succsessfully appeared in cups menu, but when I tried to print test page, its status was «processing since Tue Feb 25 19:19:52 2014 Sending data to printer.», then «completed at Tue Feb 25 19:19:53 2014», but it didn’t print anything.

Can you check the log-files from cups for error messages?
You can access these log-files from the cups interface http://localhost:631
choose button «administration»

Actually, it worked. I deleted printer, installed it again and now it prints.

This is a repackaging for Arch Linux. The original package is RPM. Use alien on that.

Как установить драйвер

Скачать файл вы можете на этой странице. После его сохранения, запустите дистрибутив, установите в первом окне «Русский» язык и нажмите «Ок».

Кликните по слову «Стандартная», потом на «Далее».

В новом окне описано, как подключить принтер и включить его. Выполните это. Нажимать больше никуда не надо, просто дождитесь, пока закроются все окна. После этого проверьте картридж, если на нем есть защитные ленты, удалите их.

Как установить драйвер

Тут можете сразу жать «Да». Читать соглашение не обязательно.

У нас будет стандартная установка. Нажмите по кружочку около соответствующего слова, потом на «Далее».

Подключите принтер к сети, соедините его с компьютером и включите. Закрывать окно не надо. Установка продолжится, на экране могут появляться окна, которые будут сами закрываться. Когда все закроется, установка закончится. Можно печатать.

Установка драйвера в Windows 10

Установка драйвера займет не более 5 минут, но если неправильно установить драйвер, то у вас появятся проблемы – принтер не будет печатать. Поэтому мы подготовили для вас инструкцию, которая поможет установить драйвер правильно.

Для начала отключите шнур, соединяющий принтер с компьютером. После этого запустите файл, который вы скачали по ссылкам выше и выберите язык. Нажмите кнопку «ОК».

Появится новое окно, в котором необходимо согласиться с условием лицензионного соглашения. Для продолжения нажмите на кнопку «Да».

В следующем окне выбора типа установки ничего не меняя (если, конечно, вы не являетесь продвинутым пользователем ПК), нажмите кнопку «Далее».

После выполненных действий установка драйвера продолжится в автоматическом режиме. Окно ниже отображает ход установки и не требует каких-либо действий с вашей стороны.

По прошествии некоторого времени потребуется подключить принтер к компьютеру, о чем и сообщит следующее окно.

После выполнения всех пунктов, нажмите «Далее» и через некоторое время вы сможете использовать устройство по назначению.
