As you are unable to find the “CanoScan 8800F” printer drivers from manufacturers website, which are compatible with Windows 10. I suggest you to install the printer drivers in compatibility mode and check. Follow the steps provided below.

1. Download the drivers from the manufacturer’s website.
2. Right-click on the installer and click on «Properties».
3. Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box «Run this program in compatibility mode for” and select previous Operating System from the drop down.
4. Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.

I downouaded the Canon Driver for Windows 8.1 (64 bit). and then I ran it in compatibilty mode for Windows 8, exactly as you instructed.

i though I was going to have to scrap my perfectly good hardware, but it’s working fine again now!

If issue persists, try to boot the computer in clean boot and disable security software temporarily and then try to install the drivers as there could be chance that some security software or some startup items is restricting it to get Installed.

Step 1: Perform Clean boot.

Putting your system in Clean Boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. You need to follow the steps from the article mentioned below to perform a Clean Boot.

Note: Refer » How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting » to reset the computer to start as normal after troubleshooting.

Step 2: Disable Security software temporarily.

Note : Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn’t disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you’re done. If you’re connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Step 3: Install drivers from manufacturer’s website (Canon 8800F).

In Jan 2003 I bought VueScan for my Epson Perfection 1200. I used it a lot, more functions than the standard driver. Got new computers with new operating systems, forgot about VueScan. I got a new Epson scanner — old one doesn’t have Win10 drivers. I remembered VueScan. Found it, downloaded the trial version, and my old EPSON 1200 scanner WORKED again. Wow, a purchase made in 2003, works on a PC with an operating system that doesn’t exist in 2003. 17 YEARS later! And that for a very small amount of money. VueScan совместим с Canon 8800F в Windows x86, Windows x64, Windows RT, Windows 10 ARM, Mac OS X и Linux.

Этот сканер имеет инфракрасную лампу для сканирования пленки. Параметр VueScan «Фильтр | Инфракрасная чистка» можно использовать для удаления пыли при сканировании пленки. Это аналогично алгоритмам ICE и FARE (и, на наш взгляд, даже лучше этих алгоритмов).

Он сканирует первый проход в видимом свете, а второй проход — в инфракрасном свете.
