Drivers and utility for Scanner Canon CanoScan 4200F under Windows 7 – XP. Mac OS X isn’t supported.

Probably, the scanner will work in Windows 10 – 8 if you install drivers in compatibility mode.

WIA Driver needed for Canon 4200F

My Canon 4200F scanner is supposed to be Win 7 compatible. However, after I downloaded and installed the appropriate 64-bit drivers from the Canon support site my scanner is still not recognized by applications or utilities within Windows 7. Specifically, «Devices and Printers», «Windows Fax and Scan», and PhotoShop CS4 Extended (both 32 & 64bit versions) all report that a WIA driver is needed for my scanner. Unfortnately Canon has only posted offers a Twain driver. Can someone please tell me where I can get a WIA driver for this scanner? Thanks in Advance

Make sure the WIA service is started. Access the path below to check the same.

Start>Type Services.msc in search bar>search for WIA in the window >Double click and set it to Started if it is not.

Another thing I noticed is, although Canon supplies driver for the 64 bit Windows 7, and WIA driver is required for the scanner to operate. The WIA driver that comes with the 4200F is 32 bit and will not load.

If the issue is as I said second about the WIA driver then cannon should answer the question best.
