Grande delusione

Ho usato Celtx negli ultimi 10 anni, se non di più, e l’ho sempre trovata un’ottima alternativa a costi contenuti per chi, come me, scrive soggetti e sceneggiature a livello professionale.
Purtroppo, con l’ultimo aggiornamento a MacOS Catalina ho dovuto aggiornarmi anche a questa versione di Celtx, visto che le altre non vengono più aperte dal nuovo sistema operativo Apple.
E ho trovato un Celtx decisamente basico, dove sono scomparsi tutti quegli strumenti (Spoglio della Sceneggiatura, Index Cards, Cataloghi. ), utilissimi nella creazione di lavori professionalmente validi e approfonditi.
Praticamente, serve solo per scrivere.
Quindi, per quanto mi riguarda, una grande delusione e, francamente, un’applicazione che ora mi risulta decisamente inutile e inutilizzabile per le mie esigenze.
Darei una sola stellina ma ne aggiungo un’altra solo perché penso che questa versione 3.0.7 possa essere invece utile per chi sta iniziando a muovere i primi passi nella scrittura di sceneggiature e si accontenta di avere una specie di guida nella formattazione.
Avrei preferito spendere qualcosina in più (MA con la possibilità di una 30-day Trial !) ma avendo gli strumenti di prima.

non funziona

ho acquistato l’app, ripeto ACQUISTATO (22 euro circa), sotto consiglio di colleghi che si son trovati bene. Non curante delle recensioni negative ho voluto provare. ECCO. ca***ta. Non acquistate questo prodotto perchè si blocca. Stavo lavorando a un progetto grosso, salvando di continuo perchè non salva in automatico, e si è bloccato. Non posso recuperare il lavoro nè tanto meno esportarlo in altro formato per continuare a lavorare. SOLDI BUTTATI.

Si chiude sempre!

La versione per il Mac funziona malissimo, soprattutto se è stato aggiornato con il Catalina. Ogni volta che tento di aprire il programma, ecco che si riichiude subito, rendendo l’utilizzo impossibile.

Huge disappintment

What a major downgrade from the old version. Not only are so many useful features gone, but the app is full of bugs.
Practically every other time I write a new line, something will happen where dialogue and actions from a different part of the script will get mashed together on the screen with what I’m currently editing, making it impossible to read or write.
So every few lines I now have to save, close the script, and reopen it if I want to get any real writing done.
Back to the drawing board on this one

waste of $20 and my soul is crying

I cannot write an important story because this app keeps crashing every time I type a single letter. After crashing and reopening, the project saves the script in a William S. Burroughs «cut-up» method, and phrases missing all together. I don’t have a lot of money as it is (my life choice of wanting to be a screenwriter), and so my heart and soul aches so much knowing I can’t properly compose my work. I had to update to the Big Sur OS and my old illegally downloaded Celtx from 2010 became obsolete, hence making the leap into this super expenisve crummy software. How does one even justify spending that much money on something that doesn’t actually exist. Well, I suppose because the older version has treated me so kindly over the years and I’m naive enough to think people (and the people behind art tools such as Celtx) create to help and support others, just as I strive for with my own work. I guess I’ll be bad and wander the cyber streets to find an old celtx again that is compatibe with this newer OS? Yes perhaps I’ll catch the clap, but that burn will be worth it for the passion of writing.

Glitchy and Limited

This app has been a disappoinntment and a waste of money. First, the bugs: you can’t use. the stageplay format to open anything, only to create. Close your project or have it crash on you, and you will not be able to open it again, because every time you try to open a file writtten in stageplay format (American AND international). Lost 13 pages of work recently because I couldn’t open it back up. Also, there seem to be quite a few features from the website missing from the app, which makes no sense to me; I paid because I wanted more specific features. The specific one that comes to mind is the dual dialogue option. That featture is only an option on the website. Don’t waste your money with this app.

It can be better.

It is handy, but the mobile version always tends to jump back to the top of the page instead of staying where you last stopped, so every so often you have to scroll through the entire thing just to find your previous spot.

The cloud-save mechanism can be a lil iffy too because this happened to me once where I was working on a script on the Celtx website on my desktop, saved it there. Then later I tried to edit that draft on my iPhone; what I didn’t know at the time was the version of the draft on my app hasn’t been updated yet, so it was still an older version with none of the new pages. I don’t know why it didn’t update automatically since I have data, but once I opened it, Celtx assumed this old one was the latest version and overwrote everything else on the cloud. Just talking about it sounds confusing. But I almost lost a good chunk of work. Luckily Celtx does offer decent backup on the website. Nevertheless, it’s a scary moment and makes it hard for me to trust the cloud.

It’s also difficult to be precise with placement on the mobile version. I have fat fingers, so I need to add a word or two in between existing words, it can take a while because it keeps highlighting things or words that I don’t want it to.

Would rate 5 but one issue I have (PLEASE REPOND)

I love this app how it keeps track of characters in your stories how it has a special keyboard so you can organize things but for some reason I have a script that I am working on for a project called Juno about the Canadians efforts in the Normandy landings I noticed i wrote a slight historical inaccuracy with a weapon I went to edit it and then all of a sudden the app kicked me out I panicked shortly fearing my work was lost and was happy and relieved when I opened the app and I saw my screenplay there I thought it was just a little freak accident and it would not happen again
I went to edit the inaccuracy then well I was kicked out the app again I tried about three or four more times then I went to the AppStore to write a review which you are reading now please tell me how to fix this I put a lot of heart and care into my screenplay and scripts paying attention to cinematography, subtext, character relationships, plot and those little details that make a film just that much better please respond to me my scripts and screenplay are like my baby so please tell me that you will release a patch or a way to fix it

Yes to the desktop, no to the mobile

I appreciate everything this program has done for me. The four star is for the entire program as a whole, however the same cannot be said for the mobile programs. For one there isn’t an app that includes all of them in one thing, and for some reason they had a feature that includes novels which is only shown in the “desktop” version but seldom mentioned in the mobile program. Some controls for it can be finicky and can get you into some trouble if you’re not careful enough. Worst of all if you’re not careful with this, you could lose a significant amount of progress in a short amount of time. I feel like that these apps are poorly managed as they are not properly adapted to the latest version seen in the “desktop” variation. Don’t get me wrong, I really love this program, this has gotten me through high school and into a lot of things including a self publishing business using Celtx as a whole. If you love Celtx as a whole too, you’re better off saving the painful hassles by just getting a laptop fitted for Celtx.
