NO we don’t want Windows. But just linux and open GL

any ideas to fix it?

Most good games don’t work for Linux. If you want to play them, you have to use windows. Linux is (in my opinion) something to work with.

Thanks picatrix. I preciate your solution. But I don’t want a wine or other solution. I just want the game to be available for linux. it’s there denialing problem. I gues for them linux and there users does not exist. I realy really down’t anything to do with windows including the never functional wine. Wine is the greatest sham in pc world. it never works. not with photoshop or every other directx game. I even don’t know why they continue this crap software.

Well, it works sometimes. But what I usually do is run a virtual machine of windows in my Linux distro. Takes care of most windows apps I need to run. However, you can’t game that way because you can only use like 512 MB of VRAM.

Anti-cheats is a big issue. Wine can’t run win kernel-level code. If Wine/Proton people finally bridge games with native Linux anti-cheats(EAC has a version afaik) it still might be an issue because of open-source kernel nature. It’s easy to inject any code and it doesn’t force this code to be signed. T.Sweeney stated on that recently. You may use virtual machines with win10 to overcome this, EAC works this way at the moment, but may break in the future. BattleEye has stopped working recently and they made a strict statement on that subject. The whole online Linux gaming future is in question.

Those limitations are for «toy» desktop virtualization, enterprise-grade solutions does not have them and KVM is one of them. But performance is somewhat limited compared to native on the same hardware.

Qemu is shipped within distro’s package repositories, and KVM is built-in in to the kernel. As I noted above those pieces of software are rich and impressive.

In relation to market share: It has been said that there are 175 million users on steam. If that is accurate then that means.

Windows = 95.50 % (167,125,000 )
Mac = 3.60 % ( 6,300,000 )
Linux = 0.80 % ( 1,400,000 )

This may seem like a lot of people. But not all of them buy the same games.

Skyrim for example, it is among the top 10 all-time bestselling games. yet it sold 23 million copies to attain that noteriety. And a majority of those 23 million were sales on Xbox, and PS3 not PC’s.

In fact, PC’s only account for 14% of those 23 million sales.

So out of 167 mil windows PC users, 14% bought the game = 3,220,000

Using this as a baseline, that means the linux market for skyrim may well have been:

3,220,000 @ 0.80 % = 25,760 potential linux sales. = $ 772,800.00

Sounds like a lot of money.
But this is only if a game has the same level of interest as Skyrim.

And 772K is a drop in the bucket when the game itself cost 85 mil to develop.
