Refresh Your Debian 9 Desktop with this Mac OS X Theme

Welcome everyone, happy new year to all of you. This is my first post in 2018 and I wish you all the best and success in 2018. I just installed my Debian 9 on my Virtual Machine. It works pretty well so far and Debian 9 looks pretty smooth on Virtualbox. Well, it took me few minutes to get the Guest Additions installed on my Debian 9. After install, my first thing to do is makeover it. My Debian 9 is now totally different. I installed Mac OS X theme on it and I am pretty satisfied with it.

Mac OS X Theme for Debian 9

Well, Debian 9 is great Linux distribution which is stable, easy to use but it lacks some beauties. But don’t worry, there are many many ways to make Debian 9 more beautiful. You can choose and pick a nice GTK theme from this list and apply it to your Debian 9 Desktop if you want.

I use the following package to make over my Debian 9.

• OSX-Arc GTK Theme
• MacOS icon Theme
• OSX-Shell Theme
• iOS Wallpaper
• Plank – install it using apt install plank command

Добрый день всем!
Не отсылайте, пожалуйста к подобной теме ниже — я ее подробно читал, но так и не нашел ответы на свои вопросы.
хочу получить вот это:

использую Debian 4.0 Etch, KDE 3.5.5
установлен Beryl, а так же стиль Baghira (эмитация Mac OS)
только по-моему Baghira оформляет не в стиле Mac OS X а в более ранней версии
а вопрос такой:
как мне получит внешний вид как по ссылке, с анимированной панелью меню, и всеми красивыми прелестями OS X?
Меня интересует, какие именно пакеты для KDE нужно использовать, и где их раздобыть.
У меня Debian на 3 DVD, поэтому большинство стандартных пакетов должно быть на диске.

Всем буду крайне признателен за ответы! Спасибо!

На том скрине вообще-то Гном.

Поставить Гном и поискать информацию в Гугле. Таких тем можно сходу найти с десяток и более.

а почему сайт-то тогда KDE-шный ?

Простите, но что вам подсказывать-то? Идёте на kde-look.org, смотрите нужные темы, качаете их устанавливаете, читаете рекомендации авторов. Поискать в инете, в конце концов. На западных сайтах была тема типа: Как в Убунте сделать рабочий стол а-ля МакОс.

Или в ждёте, что сейчас сюда сбегутся взрослые дяди и тёти и будут за вас решать?

я в вопросе попросил поделиться опытом установки подобных вещей.
просто если я поставил один раз beryl, то знаю,как это делается, на какой сайт пойти, что скачать, где взять инструкции и т.д.
здесь я ничего не знаю.
Ходил я на kde-look.org, скачал одну из тем «а-ля закось под Mac OS X» — это tar.gz архивчик, в котором лежат картинки, пара файлов формата *.theme и пара скриптов *.py
и что мне со всем этим добром делать? Сечас к Linux доступа нет, но вечером попробую туда это установить.
Но насколько я помню по прошлому опыту, KDE абсолютно безразлично на файлы *.theme
или мне нужно запустить питоновские скрипты и будет счастье, или что-то еще? я прошу лишь поделиться опытом реальной установки, а не рассуждать тут по поводу, вот такой-секой Dmitry тут наше драгоценное время, трафик и внимание отвлекает всякой ерундой.

Только, извините, конечно, но я так и не добился чего хотел:
мне бы хотелось получить ссылку или инструкции, как это сделать (подобно установке beryl под Debian на их сайте), т.е.
делай раз — в xorg.conf правим то-то, то-то
делай два, добавляем источник для установки в репозитории
делай три apt-get install
делай четыре запуск beryl-manager
и вот оно счастье!

Debian mac os тема

(Formerly known as Gnome-OSC-themes)

This is a repository that contains Mac OS-themes for the Linux-Gnome desktop made by PaulXFCE (myself)

These are high end and thorougly developed GTK-themes for the gnome desktop (3.20+ through 3.28) that interpretes the Mac Os themes to the gnome-environment.

In the latest version (McOS-MJV) I’ve modernized it in every little detail. There is nothing (not a single item) that is not new. Resulting in a completely rewritten GTK.CSS-file. it also contains the dark-mode (for applications that use it)

The dark-mode is also available as a seperate theme (McOS-MJV-Dark-Mode), which has the benifit of having GTK2-applications enjoy the same dark mode.

This is a gnome-interpretation of the Mac OS Mojave (TM) desktop, with the benifit of the dark mode

MC-OS-MJV-Dark-Mode :this is the gnome-interpreation of the Mac OS Mojave-dark-theme (TM)

This one contains the Mac OS High Sierra (TM) interpretation ( McOS-HS)

This older theme is the gnome-adaptation of the OSX-Yosemite (TM)

And finally a gnome-theme based on the looks of Logic Pro (TM) and Garageband (TM) called: McOS-SPG

First: Download the file; extract it; and somethimes you will find two themes. a version with transparency, another with (not-transparent); copy both files to a ‘.themes’-folder you make in your home directory. Or to your USR/SHARE/THEMES-folder for system-wide use (certainly for theming of SNAP-packages) Then use Tweak-tool to select the GTK and shell theme. LOG OUT AND BACK IN for changes to take effect !

Second: McOS uses titlebuttons on the left-side: To put the buttons to the left open a terminal:

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences button-layout «close,minimize,maximize:»

To put the buttons back to the right in case you want to revert:

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences button-layout «:minimize,maximize,close»

In Gnome 3.26+ gnome-tweak has a option to change the position of the titlebuttons, so the above steps are not necessary.

When, as such, theming does not look the way it should be: make sure you have installed the necessary theme-«engines»:

• The gnome-themes-standard package,
• The murrine engine. This has different names depending on your distro. gtk-engine-murrine (Arch Linux) gtk2-engines-murrine (Debian, Ubuntu, elementary OS) gtk-murrine-engine (Fedora) gtk2-engine-murrine (openSUSE) gtk-engines-murrine (Gentoo)

sudo apt-get install gtk2-engines-pixbuf is the terminal command, usually solves the issues with GTK2.

How to Make Debian 10 Looks Like Mac OS X Mojave

Hello, welcome to another tutorial to make your Linux desktop looks like Mac OS X Mojave. Today, I am going to show you how to make Debian 10 looks like Mac OS X Mojave. Personally, I am pretty satisfied with the result. I can turn a boring Debian 10 desktop into a more interesting one.

Here is my Debian 10 looks like

As you can see, I have a nice Gnome dock with the Mac OS X icon style at the bottom of my screen. Also, there is a small Mac icon on the top left corner which is pretty cool. Interested? Continue reading to find out how.

Steps to Make Debian 10 Looks Like Mac OS X Mojave

I am using Debian 10 with Gnome desktop environment. I choose Gnome because this desktop is very easy to customize compared to the others. Debian 10 includes some important software/program such as Gnome Tweak Tool as well as Gnome Shell Extension. So basically, we only need minimal efforts for this makeover.

First, let’s download some packages from Gnome Look website for this modification. The packages are as follow:

Install the GTK3 Theme

Extract the file Mojave-dark.tar.xz and Mojave-light.tar.xz package. It will produce a new folder. Move the folder to /usr/share/themes. For example, you can use the following command to move the folder

Install the Mojave Icon Theme

Now, extract the Mojave icon theme file which is Mojave-CT-Dark-Mode.tar.xz. You should now have a new folder Mojave-CT-Dark-Mode. Now move this folder to /usr/share/icons.

Make sure you run those commands as root.

Apply GTK Theme and Icon Theme

Open Tweaks and click Appearance. Select the new GTK3 theme and icon theme we installed.

To complete the makeover, we need to enable the Gnome Shell Extension. Visit this gnome-shell extension website. Make sure you enable the User Theme extension in this page.

Now open Tweaks and you should enable the “Mojave-light” or “Mojave-dark” gnome-shell theme from here.

Move the Gnome Dock to the bottom

In order to move the Gnome dock to the bottom, you will need to install Dash to Dock extension. Then, you can configure the Gnome Dash from Tweaks.

Finally, enjoy Mac OS X Mojave theme on Debian 10.
