Dell Latitude D630 Windows 10 Upgrade Issue
Hello all! I am having an issue with my D630 laptop. I waited until windows 10 was released to the public, then I used the icon to try to install the new OS over my previous windows 7 Home edition installation. I was surprised to receive the message that my BIOS was unsupported by this version of windows! I quickly updated my BIOS to the newest version- A19. After rebooting my computer I still received the error! I have found no posts relating to upgrading a Latitude D630 to windows 10, so I was hoping all of you could help.

i also had this problem on mine and updated the new bios.
the update program does not refresh every time you run it, just keep checking back on it once per day and it should work, i recently installed 10 on mine after getting the biod update and i had to wait 3 days for the tool to re scan my system

I read Andre’s post and I am going to clean install Win 10 on my Dell D630 now running Win 8.1 _ Prior to doing this I will make a clone of the existing HDD so that I can easily revert to Win 8.1 in case of any issues.
I have found Andre’s posts and answers very useful in the past!

Hi my name is Kevin good post/ I also have a D630 I contacted Microsoft they told me to contact Dell about the BIOS I did;nt kkow you could download BIOS. Could you please give me the web site P-S Iwas # 2 that found your post helpful. I though I was the only 1 with this can’t get WINDOWS 10 THANKS a lot buy.

Go to support.dell.com which will redirect you to the correct site. You can either enter your service tag (S/N), which is on the bottom of your D630, or just browse by product and find the Latitude D630.
Once on the D630 Product Support page, select «Drivers & downloads», select «Find it myself», and click «Change OS», and you should be presented with an option for BIOS. If not, just select the closest OS that you have installed, which technically for BIOS you can choose anything.

How to Install Windows 10 on the Dell Latitude D630
BIOS Setup
This section provides a performance optimised BIOS configuration for the Dell Latitude D630 based on BIOS Revision A19.
The system uses a non-UEFI legacy BIOS, and as such is generally easy to configure. To enter BIOS Setup, power-on or reboot the laptop and wait for the Power On Self Test (POST) screen with F2 = Setup in the top right corner to be displayed.

Press F2 to enter Setup. The text in the top right corner will change to Preparing to enter Setup .. and after a few moments the BIOS Setup screen will be displayed. The first group of System screens displays various information about the specific model configuration.
Next, step though each of the remaining groups and configure the Recommended settings as described in the following tables.

Enabling USB Wake Support allows input activity from a USB device, such as external keyboard or mouse, to be used to wake up the laptop from low-power sleep mode.

Windows supports the use of the Simple Boot Flag (SBF) to control the need for system diagnostics at boot time (Fast Boot).
Enabling Virtualization turns on the Intel VT-x processor extensions, allowing the use of virtualization technologies such as VMware Workstation and Oracle VirtualBox. However, Microsoft Hyper-V will not function, as the Intel Core 2 processor does not have the required SLAT hardware extensions.

Полагаем, люди из подобной категории уже задумывались о продаже своего настольного компьютера и покупке мобильного. Причём последний должен стать их основным рабочим инструментом как дома, так и в офисе. Не исключено, что к нему будут подключать внешние монитор, клавиатуру и мышь, тем самым делая ноутбук обычным ПК с возможностью автономной работы. Последнее свойство может быть полезно, когда вы отлучаетесь по делам или на отдых. Вместе с тем играм уделяется хоть и не первостепенное внимание, но всё же и не последнее. Ноутбук со встроенной графикой подойдёт, но если будет вариант с дискретным видео, то почему бы и нет?
Дело остаётся за малым – найти мобильный компьютер, отлично подходящий для работы, а также иногда для игр. Он должен поддерживать все современные средства коммуникаций, иметь хороший экран, качественное изготовление, большой объём ОЗУ, современный производительный процессор, как можно более ёмкий жёсткий диск, а также возможность подключения к репликатору портов. Последнее особенно полезно, если вы будете носить ноутбук домой и на работу. При наличии репликатора не придётся каждый раз подключать к нему монитор, клавиатуру, мышь, принтер, сканер и прочую периферию.
Что подходит под подобное описание? Правильно, мобильные компьютеры из корпоративного класса. Самыми именитыми производителями подобных девайсов являются американские компании вроде HP, Dell, да и не так давно среди них затесалась китайская Lenovo после приобретения мобильного бизнеса IBM.
Год назад мы имели дело с некоторыми корпоративными ноутбуками. В частности это Lenovo ThinkPad T60, а также HP Compaq nx7400 и nx9420. С того времени сменилось очередное поколение мобильной платформы Intel, что предоставило производителям очередную возможность обновить свои модельные линейки ноутбуков. Сегодня к нам попали два мобильных компьютера из «новеньких». Dell Latitude D630 и Lenovo ThinkPad T61 – это типичные рабочие инструменты с прекрасным изготовлением, основанные на последнем поколении процессоров Core 2 Duo и оснащённые дискретной графикой класса NVIDIA Quadro. Дизайн
Ноутбукам корпоративного класса, как правило, свойственен строгий, неброский внешний вид. Впрочем, эта их строгость производит прямо противоположный эффект — выделяет такие компьютеры. Всё же одно дело – когда ноутбук просто «топорный», а другое – когда его дизайн элегантен и сделан со вкусом. Это как раз наш случай.
