События футуристического стэлс-экшена Deus Ex: Mankind Divided происходят в альтернативном будущем, где человечество разделилось на 2 лагеря. Последние были отвергнуты первыми и обращены в изгоев, вынужденных выживать под гнетом «чистых».
Героем игры выступает некий Адам Дженсен – человек, чье тело наполовину состоит из совершенных протезов и модулей. По сюжету протагонист присоединяется к движению сопротивления и становится тайным агентом, чья задача состоит в том, чтобы как можно ближе подобраться к врагу в лице мегакорпорации и раскрыть впечатляющий всемирный заговор.
Игра позиционируется как стэлс-экшен, концептуально ориентированный на скрытное прохождение. Однако игроку не запрещается выполнять миссии, так сказать, напролом, то есть в открытую. В сравнении с Deus Ex: Human Revolution, искусственный интеллект противников в Mankind Divided стал значительно лучше, а арсенал протагониста пополнился новыми возможностями, в частности, при помощи специального модуля Дженсен может сканировать противников и взламывать электронику на расстоянии.
Истинные ценители скрытного прохождения рискуют не получить выкидной наноклинок и комплект подкожной брони «Титан». Два этих улучшения были созданы специально для открытых сражений. Импланты позволяют игроку сделать из Адама Дженсена бойца под свой стиль прохождения. Все те же фанаты правильного прохождения смогут нацепить на тело протагониста встроенную в руку шоковую пушку «Тесла», при помощи которой после серии улучшений можно выводить из строя до четырех противников.

Just got the game yesterday for my MacBook Pro 2017, Radeon 560.
While I was expecting it to be high-end, I was not quite expecting my Mac’s CPU to be pinged at a constant 100 degrees temp., with fans never letting down below max, even on loading screens!
I’ve been gaming on the Mac for a long time, played many Feral games too (including the Deus Ex Human Rev.) but I’ve literally never seen anything so devastatingly taxing to my hardware.
While it runs super smooth, it’s so unrelentingly hard on the hardware that I had to return it and ask for a refund. It’s great to have a fantastic looking Metal 2 game but not at the risk of thermally killing a super expensive Mac.
IMHO, the game should provide options to lower FPS below 60.
Though I cannot understand how the CPU is being pushed to 100 degrees on loading screens.
I wonder what the experience for other Mac users has been.

This game will make a MacBook catch fire because they can’t disperse heat very well.
A good desktop won’t do that. My fx9590 desktop processor is a volcano and it never goes over 70 degrees.
That macbook is actually designed to not throttle until it reaches 109 degrees celsius, so relax, OP. You can play at 100 celsius just fine.
If you reach critical temps (115
or so), the CPU first throttles down, then downclocks, and as a last resort, shuts itself off to avoid damage. This has been standard in CPU design since the first dual cores.
For those who are interested, it reaches the high 90s in pretty much all heavy programs out there, not only games. Just how they made it.
If you want to play at 60 FPS, just use rivatuner or some other similar program to set a 60 FPS maximum limit. It’s not gonna make your CPU run cooler, though.

I didn’t mean to discuss either the thermal limits of the MacBook or any way to throttle the game — of which I’m well aware as a pro user / iOS developer.
What surprised me was the game forcing CPU usage to over 100% and temps @ a constant 100 degrees, which is unprecedented for a Feral port or any other macOS game out there.
As I’ve said, I’ve played a lot of high-end games on Mac and though at points, all of them stress the machine, none has done so in this extreme manner.
The fact that this takes place on loading screens where nothing happens (except loading of resources) also points to some kind of bug being present in this 1st release.
If you’re a Mac user playing this game then I’d appreciate your input.
Dude, it’s normal computer behavior, and it doesn’t ‘stress the machine.’ If your computer is getting too hot, it’ll throttle down, or simply shut off. All CPUs made since they started calling them CPUs have included safeguards and complex self-preservation technology.
Your macbook that cost like 69658585858 dollars idles at around 80 celsius, and easily runs up to 93 degrees in many CPU benchmark tests. It was made to handle that, and more.
My CPU also doesn’t go to 0% when I’m in loading screens. Why would it? On windows, we have these things called power settings, which let us specify what degree of CPU usage is tolerable. Regardless of OS, the CPU will clock down when it’s not actually doing anything, but since you’re on a mac that’s built around the CPU always doing something, it’s not gonna do that.
Again, stop worrying about temperatures. Unless you legit hit 109 degrees celsius (very unlikely, unless you block off the fan), you have nothing to worry about.
There’s no bug. It’s simply your computer that’s been configured to run with a 100% minimum CPU usage setting in the power profile, because it’s a ‘pro’ machine, for ‘pro’ users, that need ‘pro’ power to use ‘pro’ programs, like safari. Do some research on what you’re actually buying. My CPU’s runs in the high 70s for all demanding games, despite the 6 giant fans and mega cooling. Also overclocked from 3.4ghz to 4.5. Going on 6 years, and no damage has been sustained. Nor will any ever be sustained, because if I overclock too much, it’ll go unstable and shut off to preserve itself, and the operating temperature of my CPU is 100 celsius before it starts throttling, which I’m well below.

All previous Deus Ex were released on Mac, I think this is one of Square-Enix’s (well Eidos) great franchises, and this game is pretty great, save of course for the micro-transaction and tons of DLCs people are hopefully starting to be tired of.
However I’m baffled that a version for Linux was released before a Mac version, which buy the way, is it still coming?
Also as a side-note looking at the forum I should say: don’t blame a game for it’s bugs and unoptimisation, blame the whole computing industry and coding domains. there’s a point at which the lack of standard, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of drivers and PC configurations, as well as all the ♥♥♥♥ un-optimised accumulated bulk of code will make most apps and PCs unusable.

You feel entitled to get a mac version before linux? LOL. Let me just say that apple’s hardware is way too «courageous» to handle a game like this even on lowest of settings. If you want to play video games, buy a computer, not a decoration.

To be fair, DE:MD is more graphically intense than GTA 5 or FO4. I own all 3 of those games and on a AMD RX 480 (4 GB) I play:
FO4- ultra 1080p,
GTA5 — ultra 1080p,
DE:MD — high 1080p;
and that’s with my card being a lot better than yours.
No doubt your computer can play DE:MD, but lets not get ahead of ourselves. MacOS usually gets the shortend of the stick when it comes to gaming; just the way it is. If you plan on gaming on your Mac, you’re better off buying a copy of Windows and installing it as a dual boot.
