Question: Q: Canon LBP 2900 Printer Driver for Mac OS X El Capitan

Every time when new Mac OS version releases, Canon’s LBP 2900 printer stops working. I faced the same problem when I updated my Mac OS X from Yosemite to El Capitan version 10.11.1. It is very difficult to find the working driver in the Internet for this model of Canon printer.

How to update driver of Canon LBP 2900 to make it work on Mac OS X El Capitan?

I got solution to fix this problem. Following are the procedures to get Canon LBP 2900 to work with Mac OS X El Capitan.

Follow these steps:

Step 1: Delete your current Canon LBP 2900 printer in Printers & Scanners settings (Apple > System Preferences > Printers & Scanners).

Step 2: Restart your Mac.
Step 3: Download and install the Canon LBP 2900’s CAPT Printer Driver Version 3.85 from http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0100420705.html

Step 4: Restart your Mac.

Step 6: Restart your Mac.

Step 7: Connect the printer with USB and add the Canon LBP 2900 Printer in Printers & Scanners settings and select the appropriate driver.

Step 8: Done! Print your documents.

This technique worked for me and I hope this will work to you guys as well.

Canon LBP2900 — досить хороший принтер для друку документів. Для операційних систем Windows та Linux проблем з драйверами нема. А от при переході декілька років тому на платформу Mac OS така проблема виникла. В той час в мене навіть не було доступу до інтернету, тому в мене пошук драйверів зайняв десь 8 місяців. Тому недавно згадавши свої проблеми з цим апаратом (а він дійсно хороший) вирішив допомогти таким, як я. У випадку чого пишіть.

Інструкція: 1. Розархівувати закачаний архів.

2. З образу «Canon CAPT Driver.dmg» і запустити «САРТ Installer». Під час установки програма попросить закрити всі відкриті програми та перезавантажити комп.

3. Розархівувати архів «CAPT.zip»

4. Отриману папку «САРТ» перекопіювати в папку: Системний диск/Library/Printers. При копіюванні, на запит відповісти — «Замінити».

5. Зайти в настройки та просто додати принтер (якщо вже він вибраний, ну пробували ви його запустити а він не йде, то краще його видалити та додати новий принтер) при цьому, якщо Ви все зробили правильно, то драйвери для принтеру виберуться автоматично.
