В данной статье показаны действия, с помощью которых можно проверить (узнать) версию WDDM поддерживаемую графическим драйвером видеоадаптера в операционной системе Windows.
Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) — это архитектура графических драйверов для видеокарты под управлением Microsoft Windows, начиная с Windows Vista. WDDM является заменой для архитектуры видеодрайверов Windows XP (XDDM/XPDM) и направлена на повышение производительности графики, новую функциональность и стабильность.
WDDM предоставляет функциональные возможности, необходимые для визуализации рабочего стола и приложений с помощью диспетчера рабочего стола — диспетчера составных окон, работающего поверх Direct3D.
WDDM также поддерживает интерфейсы новой инфраструктуры DXGI (DirectX Graphics Infrastructure), необходимые для основных операций создания и управления устройством. Спецификация WDDM требует видеокарту, поддерживающую по меньшей мере Direct3D 9, и должна реализовывать интерфейсы до Direct3D 9 для совместимости со старыми приложениями Direct3D, также WDDM дополнительно может реализовывать интерфейсы для Direct3D 10/10.1 и выше.

Как проверить версию WDDM поддерживаемую графическим драйвером
Чтобы проверить (узнать) версию WDDM поддерживаемую графическим драйвером видеоадаптера, нажмите сочетание клавиш 
+ R, в открывшемся окне Выполнить введите (скопируйте и вставьте) dxdiag и нажмите клавишу Enter ↵.
В окне «Средство диагностики DirectX» выберите вкладку Экран и в разделе Драйверы вы увидите поддерживаемую версию WDDM.

Драйвер это по своей сути связующее звено между операционной системой, то есть программным обеспечением и железом, то есть физическими устройствами, таким как видеокарты, принтеры, процессоры и т.д. В операционной системе могут быть заложены базовые драйвера для самых необходимых устройств — мышка, клавиатура, но для всего остального потребуются свежие драйвера.
Как установить драйвер?
a) Для начала надо на рабочем столе выбрать значок (Мой компьютер) и нажать по нему правой кнопкой мыши, в выпадающем меню выбрать (Свойства).
b) Теперь переходим на вкладку (Оборудование) и нажимает на кнопку (Диспетчер устройств).
c) Теперь необходимо выбрать устройство для которого будет устанавливаться/обновляться драйвер. На строке с устройством надо нажать правой кнопкой мыши и в выпадающем меню выбрать (Свойства), либо можно просто дважды по нему щелкнуть, чтобы перейти в нужные настройки.
d) Переходим на вкладку (Драйвер), выбираем кнопку (Обновить).
e) В появившемся диалоговом окне выбираем пункт (Нет, не в этот раз) и переходим (Далее).
f) На этом этапе есть два вариант. Можно попытаться установить драйвера в автоматическому режиме, тогда ОС сама попытается найти подходящие устройству драйвера и установить их, для этого выбираем (Автоматическая установка (рекомендуется)) , если попытка завершится неудачно, то надо переходить ко второму пункту (Установка из указанного места) и выбираем (Далее).
g) Этот пункт меню подразумевает выбор между поиском драйвера на сменных носителях и вариантом указать папку с драйвером самостоятельно. Поэтому если в наличии есть диск с драйверами, то надо вставьте диск в CD-rom и выбрать вариант (Поиск на сменных носителях (дискетах, компакт-дисках..)) и перейти (Далее).
Если драйвер найден и скачен в интернете самостоятельно, то надо указать в ручную путь к папке в которой находятся установочный данные для драйвера следующим образом. Выбираем пункт (Включить следующее место поиска:) и переходим в (Обзор), теперь из списка выбираем папку с драйвером и кликаем на кнопку (ОК). Теперь смело переходим (Далее), если все сделано правильно, то начнется установка необходимого драйвера.
WDDM 1.2 features
This topic describes the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) Version 1.2 feature set, which includes several new enhancements that improve performance, reliability, and the overall end-user experience.
Each of these features requires special support from third-party WDDM 1.2 and later drivers. This section elaborates on what constitutes the WDDM 1.2 feature set.
WDDM 1.2 has both mandatory and optional features. The driver must implement all the mandatory features to claim itself as a «WDDM 1.2 driver,» while the driver can implement any combination (or none) of the optional features. A non-WDDM 1.2 driver must report none of the WDDM 1.2 features.
This table summarizes the WDDM 1.2 feature set. «M» indicates mandatory, «O» indicates optional, and «NA» indicates not applicable. To read details about each feature, follow the link in the left column.

*This feature is mandatory for all WDDM 1.2 drivers with Microsoft Direct3D 10-, 10.1-, 11-, or 11.1-capable hardware (or later).
**No new device driver interface (DDI) or behavior changes. However, WDDM 1.2 and later drivers must be able to pass XML Paper Specification (XPS) rasterization conformance tests to ensure a quality printing experience for hardware-accelerated XPS printing scenarios.

Kernel Mode Display-Only Driver (KMDOD) Interface: Provides a limited set of display functions without rendering capability. See the Kernel mode display-only miniport driver sample.
Support for system on a chip (SoC) architecture through the SPB interface: Lets a display miniport driver access bus resources on an SoC system.
Surprise removal of secondary adapter
System Firmware Table Interface: Lets the display miniport driver enumerate and read the system firmware table.
Brightness Control Interface V. 2 (Adaptive and Smooth Brightness Control): Lets a display miniport driver reduce power to the display backlight and still smoothly adapt to changes in ambient light and user requests to change brightness.
