Intellivision — это доисторическая, но вполне успешная игровая консоль, которая вышла в 1979 году. Сейчас под этим брендом готовят другое устройство — Intellivision Amico. У него даже будут свои эксклюзивы, в том числе новая часть «Червяка Джима».

Накануне создатели Intellivision Amico провели особый ивент, где поговорили о консоли и анонсировали игры. Там же показали первый тизер Earthworm Jim: немножко графики, анимации и озвучки — до геймплея дело не дошло. Ну, зато экспериментов с ужасающим 3D точно не будет!

Earthworm Jim 4 (название условное) разрабатывают те же люди, которые занимались оригиналом. Среди них — автор идеи и голос Джима Дуг Тен-Нейпел (Doug TenNapel), программист Дэвид Перри (David Perry), композитор Томми Талларико (Tommy Tallarico), а также художники, аниматоры и гейм-дизайнеры.

Даты релиза у Earthworm Jim 4 пока нет, но торопиться точно к запуску Intellivision Amico авторы не собираются. Сама консоль должна была стартовать 10 октября 2020-го, однако после различных сложностей выход перенесли на 15 апреля 2021-го.

У Amico есть необычные контроллеры, напоминающие оригинальную Intellivision, только беспроводные, с сенсорным экраном и гироскопами. На серьёзную нишу консоль не претендует: она будет относительно дешёвой (приблизительно до 180 долларов), цены на игры не станут превышать 10 долларов, а все развлечения ограничат возрастным рейтингом «Для лиц от 10 лет» и ниже.

Кроме Earthworm Jim на Amico выйдут эксклюзивные игры по «Улице Сезам», Hot Wheels и «настолкам» компании The Op, а также несколько проектов по собственным франшизам Intellivision.

Also, anyone who’s a fan of Doug TenNapel’s work (including the point-n-click graphic adventure, «The Neverhood») should *really* check out his Kickstarter project for a spiritual-successor to The Neverhood, called Armikrog.

I’m pushing Doug and his team pretty hard to commit to (at least) Desura for the DRM-free versions, since it’s the best for DRM-free Linux games. If anyone else chooses to pledge there, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me by plugging Desura in the comment thread or in a direct-message to Doug and the team, via the in-built Kickstarter message system.

It is bundled with DOSBox since it is the original DOS game.

Earthworm jim was my first game and was nice for the grafics back then and was absolutly addicting glad to see its being welcomed back to the gaming world

The IP is still alive. it just got a remake for Consoles 2 years ago.

Simply put? Because you have no frigging idea of WHAT abandonware actually IS.
Someone has the IP, someone uses the IP.

How to install and play the game

Files for Mac can be run on all versions of OS X. You need to uncompress the 7z archive using the proper software (please use Keka to avoid problems). If the archive contains a DMG, double click it to mount the disk. After that, drag & drop the game icon into Applications (or another folder, Desktop will be fine too). New versions of MacOS block applications from identified developers. If you have this problem, just press Ctrl while clicking the game icon, and select Open. Alternatively you can use the “Open Anyway” button in the General pane of Security & Privacy preferences. See the Help page for more info.

Earthworm Jim, spineless superhero, wriggles back into action as the Groovy Guardian of Goodness in an incredible journey of cheese-curdling proportions. Как играть?

В распоряжении червячка Джима не только его хлыст, но и бластер, с чьей помощью он может наносить урон по врагам, собравшихся причинить вред ему. Перемещайтесь по территории, собирая патроны, которых в начале дается много, однако оппонентов в игре будет еще больше, поэтому не забывайте подбирать дополнительное оружие. Также ищите энергию в виде синих элементов, что сверху слева отображаются. Вы должны стрелять по воронам и демоническим собакам, появляющимися на свалке, куда героя занесло. Когда приблизитесь к холодильнику, выстрелите в крепление, удерживающее его, после чего он упадет на доску, которая запустит корову, стоящую неподалеку. Остерегайтесь падающих предметов откуда-то сверху, иначе получите урон. Доходите до боссов, чтобы победить их и спокойно вернуться домой.
