How does the elephant door™ system work?

The elephant door™ is an intelligent anti-burglary system for residential apartments. The system is directly fixed to the entrance door. Thanks to the Easy Install technology no tools are needed and it only takes a moment to install it. The system can be installed on almost all doors.

Elephant door™ features a Smart Warning System . This technology uses artificial neuron networks for analyzing any activity picked up by the gyroscope and the accelerometer. In this way, when the elephant door™ picks up and recognizes strong vibrations, it can detect an attempt to open the door forcibly and prevent the burglary before it actually takes place. In such a situation, the device emits a short alarm signal with a siren rated at over 110 dB . It will also send a notification to your smartphone. When the door is forced open, the elephant door™ activates the alarm siren for several minutes and sends a notification about the burglary. The system’s algorithms minimize the risk of false alarm. Consequently, knocking on the door will not be considered by the elephant door™ as a threat.

The alarm can be operated with a dedicated application. The user is informed about every detected activity. The application can also be used to promptly inform your family or neighbors about the threat. The elephant door™ features a Bluetooth and Wi-Fi module for wireless communication. It also has a built-in battery that, fully charged, operates up to 40 days. The entire system is a single device.

How is the elephant door™ system used?

The device is controlled with a free app, Elephant, installed on a smartphone. The device can be activated and deactivated from a distance of up to 5 m.
To protect the apartment, activate the elephant door™ once you have left and locked the door. Deactivate the device before entering the apartment and unlocking the door. You can also activate the device when you are at home, e.g. at night, to feel safer.

Unlike with other alarm systems available in the market, people and pets moving around the apartment will not trigger the alarm!

Controlling the elephant door™. Is there a remote for controlling the device?

The elephant door™ can be controlled with a mobile Elephant app available for Android System (4.4 or newer) and iOS (9.0 or newer).

To fully use the device’s functionalities and receive notifications, the elephant door™ must be connected to the apartment’s Wi-Fi. The smartphone must be also connected to the Internet. A single device may be operated by up to 10 users.

A single user may operate up to 10 devices. Soon a remote will be launched for activating and deactivating the device without the smartphone.

How is the device connected to the smartphone? How does it notify about a burglary?

The elephant door™ sends notifications by connecting to the apartment’s Wi-Fi network. This is a safe solution used by most smart home security devices. This way, no SIM card is needed and no additional fees are charged when the elephant door™ connects to the Internet. We are also planning to launch a second version of the device, for use with SIM cards. The new elephant door™ device will be able to operate in locations without Wi-Fi connection.

Installation of the elephant door™. Will the device fit my door?

The device is installed on the entrance door, from the inside of the apartment. Simply remove the protective tape in the device’s back,

align and press (hold for 10 seconds) against the corner of the door above the door knob.

The installation of the elephant door™ is simple and takes less than a minute. No tools are needed whatsoever. The device fits almost any kid of single or dual-leaf door. However, it may malfunction if installed on door whose surface is not flat and smooth, are covered with fabric, are unstable or have play.

What about protecting the windows? Can I use the elephant door™ on the windows?

The main purpose of the elephant door™ is protecting the door. Almost 80% of burglaries to flats are done through the door. Despite flats on the ground floor, the front door are usually the only possible entry. However, with complete security in mind, we are working to launch a new product, the elephant window, in 2018. The new device will be designed to protect the windows and together with the elephant door™ it will create a complete system for protecting houses and apartments.

How is the elephant door™ powered? How long will the battery last?

The elephant door™ has a built-in 2500 mAh Li-Poly battery. With it, the device can operate up to 40 days in an average use and up to 17 days in detection mode (turned ON 24h). The device is charged via a Micro USB cable, delivered with the device. It takes 8 hrs to fully charge the battery when connected to a PC USB port, or 4 hrs if connected to the mains.

We consulted our solutions with policemen who deal with burglaries daily. The elephant door™ has been developed to detect the most common methods of unlocking and opening the door by the burglars and to detect them before anyone forces their way inside!
