Follow the steps below to enable Epson Connect for your Epson printer on a Mac.

Important: Your product needs to be set up with a network connection before it can be set up with Epson Connect. If you need to set up the connection, see the Start Here sheet for your product for instructions. To see the sheet, go to the Epson support main page, select your product, Manuals and Warranty, then Start Here.

Download and run the Epson Connect Printer Setup Utility.
Click Continue.
Agree to the Software License Agreement by clicking Continue, and then Agree.

Click Install, and then click Close.

Select your product, and then click Next.
Note: If the window doesn’t automatically appear, open a Finder window and select Application > Epson Software, and then double-click Epson Connect Printer Setup.

Select Printer Registration, and then click Next.

When you see the Register a printer to Epson Connect message, click OK.

Scroll down, click the I accept the Terms and Conditions check box, and then click Next.

Do one of the following:

If you’re creating a new account, fill out the Create An Epson Connect Account form, then click Finish.
If you’re registering a new product with an existing account, click I already have an account, fill out the Add a new printer form, and then click Add.

Click Close.

Обновление ПО для принтера на компьютере Mac

Система macOS совместима с большинством принтеров. При добавлении принтера macOS автоматически использует AirPrint для подключения принтера или загрузки его программного обеспечения (также называемого драйвером принтера).

Если использовать принтер, который Вы уже добавили, не получается, или в диалоговом окне «Печать» не отображаются нужные параметры, можно добавить принтер еще раз с другими настройками или другим программным обеспечением.

Добавление принтера с другими настройками

На Mac выберите пункт меню «Apple»

> «Системные настройки», затем нажмите «Принтеры и сканеры».

Выберите принтер в списке и нажмите кнопку «Удалить» .

Нажмите кнопку «Добавить» и, если появится всплывающее меню, выберите «Добавить принтер или сканер».

Откроется диалоговое окно со списком всех сетевых принтеров, поддерживающих IP и Open Directory, а также общих принтеров. Составление списка может занять пару минут.

Когда принтер появится в списке, выберите его и выполните одно из следующих действий:

Использовать AirPrint. Если принтер AirPrint подключен через USB-кабель, нажмите меню «Использовать», затем выберите «AirPrint».

Если AirPrint нет во всплывающем меню, Ваш принтер не поддерживает эту возможность.

Использовать программное обеспечение принтера, установленное на компьютере Mac или загруженное с сайта Apple. Выберите вариант «Выбрать ПО» во всплывающем меню «Использовать».

Использовать программное обеспечение принтера из файла на Вашем компьютере Mac: Выберите вариант «Другая» во всплывающем меню «Использовать». Выберите файл, затем нажмите «Добавить».

Обновите программное обеспечение принтера

Если принтер не поддерживает AirPrint, можно загрузить новейшее программное обеспечение в разделе настроек «Обновление программ». Если этого не сделать, при подключении принтера на экране может появиться сообщение о том, что ПО для принтера недоступно.

На Mac выберите пункт меню «Apple»

Нажмите «Обновление программ».

Установить любые обновления программ, перечисленные для Вашего принтера.

Если программное обеспечение для Вашего принтера недоступно через Обновление ПО, обратитесь за информацией к изготовителю принтера. Возможно, Ваш принтер несовместим с macOS. Для проверки обратитесь к статье службы поддержки Apple: Драйверы принтеров и сканеров для компьютеров Mac.

Если установить ПО для принтера не с сайта Apple, автоматическое обновление программного обеспечения принтера с помощью функции «Обновление ПО» может быть невозможным.

Question: Q: Where do I download the Epson Printer Utility?

I recently purchased a 24″ iMac. Previous to that I had a PowerPC PowerBook. I used Migration Mgr. to port all of my files from my external HD back to my new iMac. Somehow, in all of that, my Epson Printer Utility vanished. It is not to be found anywhere on the external HD. I have no idea.

Yesterday, I downloaded the new Intel Epson printer drivers form Apple. My Epson R2400 now prints as it should. However, my colors are off which tells me that my ink levels are low. But without the printer utility, I have no idea cartridges need replacing.

I have searched without any success for Epson’s Printer Utility. If anyone knows of a source for this I would be very grateful for the link.

It doesn’t exist any more. Try this with your printer connected and powered on:
— Launch System Preferences.
— Select the «Print & Fax» panel.
— Select your printer in the left column.
— Click on the «Options & Supplies. » button.
— In the resulting panel click on the «Supply Levels» tab.

Note that this works with an Epson Artisan 810 printer, but I would also expect it to work with your printer.

As your printer lacks a display panel, you can’t use that to check the ink levels.

On my OS X 10.6.3 system when I visit the path /Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Utility I see to folders «UT4» and «UTL». The first one contains the file «Epson Printer Utility 4» and the second «Epson Printer Utility Lite». Each of those shows ink levels of my printer. Since you have a different printer, your results may vary.

I should have mentioned that my original Epson CD’s do not have this printer utility either. For, some reason I have two CD’s and they are identical.

Having said that, how are Epson printer owner’s supposed to check the levels of opaque ink cartridges?? I could make a lot of assumptions about the ‘disappearance’ of this invaluable utility in hopes that there will be some other way to determine ink levels.

Ah, good info here.

I just launched the ‘Epson Printer Utility 4’ and got an error message as follows:

Epson Printer Utility 4 cannot be executed.
The printer is not registered or this
software cannot function properly using
the current connections.

I should mention that I have seen dialog boxes which indicate certain software thinks that my iMac is my old PowerBook. This may be due to the fact that I used Migration Mgr to port all of my old PowerBook files from my external HD to the new iMac.

I will try to re-register my Epson R2400 printer and get back to you later.

Well, I jumped through all of Epson’s printer registration loops for the second time and I still am unable to launch their Printer Utility 4. I get the same exact error message as I did prior to re-registering my printer.

I just sent an email to Epson about this. I am not one bit happy with this ridiculous issue. I see absolutely no logical reason why I cannot launch this bloody utility app to check my ink cartridge levels.

I sincerely appreciate your help with all of this.

After reading your post I didn’t know whether to scream or cry. I think you just solved this mystery. Not in a good way mind you, but at least I now understand these issues a lot better.

To back up a bit: I did find a link for Epson drivers for my printer a few days back which I downloaded. And it is indeed the Gutenprint driver. This then explains how and why I spent all of today ******* in the wind trying to figure out why I could not —

1. Get my existing Epson Printer Utility to launch to check my low ink cartridge levels and;

2. Get my Epson Printer Utility 4 to launch.

All of these issues were due to the fact that I was using the Gutenprint Epson driver. Just great. Guess I will have to use my old PowerBook to print out my business cards. I am sure there will be other obstacles ahead with this issue. IMO, all of this is beyond stupid. There must be some other way to check my ink levels.

Anyway, because of your post, I now understand how all of this came about. Thank you for your very informative post.
