Монтирование NTFS раздела с гибернацией (Win-8) [Решено]

Собственно вопрос в названии.
Ну никак не хочет монтироваться раздел с установленной виндой.
Винда 8.1
Сообщение об ошибке:
Windows is hibernated, refused to mount.
Failed to mount ‘/dev/sda2’: Операция не позволена
The NTFS partition is in an unsafe state. Please resume and shutdown
Windows fully (no hibernation or fast restarting), or mount the volume
read-only with the ‘ro’ mount option.

Пробовал монтировать с опцией -o force. Ответ такой же.

Раньше после остановки винды с полным выключением и последующим (с ноля) запуском ноута и загрузки бунты не монтировались вообще все разделы ntfs.
В винде отключил быстрый запуск, что дало результат по монтированию ntfs разделов постле остановки (не перезагрузки) винды. Однако раздел, на котором стоит сама винда по прежнему не монтируется ни при каких условиях.
Хотя винда стоит уже достаточно давно, но обратил на это внимание совсем не давно, когда стал часто пользоваться виндой в плане игрушек.

Но вы понимаете, что установка или отключение каких либо опций в самой винде, — это совершенно не выход, потому как в случае сбойного завершения винды, без танцев с бубном разделы монтироваться не будут.

Причем раньше при использовании и XP и семерки ничего подобного не наблюдал.
Что это за хрень, ума не приложу.

Принудительно монтировать не надо. Надо починить диск NTFS и монтировать нормально.
Тут был похожий случай все описано.

Боюсь, ситуация несколько иная.
Во-первых, ноут достаточно свежий (хотя это не гарантия, понимаю)
Во-вторых, сам винт работает совершенно без каких-либо претензий.
В-третьих, винда-то грузиться без проблем, и работает без проблем и отклонений.

Хотя.
Был один нюанс. Винда при установке создает зарезервированную область, в которую помещает свою загрузку. Но загрузка из под граба происходила не корректно. Я скопировал содержимое этого раздела на раздел с виндой, изменил настройки граба по загрузке разделов, и загрузка стала происходить нормально. Причем, у меня это касаемо только винды 8.

В общем-то мелочь, но чем черт не шутит.

А причем тут свежесть? «Ремонт» же не физический, а программный. Мог быть сбой по питанию или игра какая- поглючила. Притом винда эти ошибки может игнорировать. Именно так было у человека, что по ссылке я дал.
В любом случае, эта команда разделу ничего плохого не сделает.

You can not mount a hibernated partition (At least in a Read/Write state). The reason behind this is that if you happen to copy something from your Ubuntu system to the Window’s hibernated system, it will be lost when you boot Windows.

This is actually a safety feature put by the mounting process in Ubuntu because many users complaint that when they copied something from Ubuntu to Windows, they lost the data. It later came to light, that the Windows system was hibernated, creating this problem because in hibernation, everything is frozen (The system is read only) and is not changed until you boot again from within Windows.

The recommendation as mentioned by the warning is to boot Windows 8 and shut the system correctly. not by hibernation, but by the shutdown option.

If you still want to mount the unit, it should be in a READ ONLY state. For this we could do the following:

sudo mount -o ro /dev/sda2 /mnt

Where ro is Read Only, /dev/sda2 is the partition you want to mount and /mnt is where you want to mount this partition.

Still I would go with going to Windows 8, shutting down the computer (No hibernation) and going back to Ubuntu and enjoy a warm and sweet moment with a Read/Write partition.

UPDATE: If your Windows 8 system always stays in a hibernated state, please read the section about TROUBLESHOOT in Installing Ubuntu Alongside a Pre-Installed Windows with UEFI . It covers the weird behavior «feature» Windows 8 offers to users automatically to make the system more confusing «better» for them.

Can’t Mount NTFS drive “The disk contains an unclean file system” [duplicate]

I am getting an error when I try to access my NTFS drive from ubuntu.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you can’t access the drive, execute the following command:

where XY is the partition

e.g sda2 or sdb1

Then, mount with:

I solved the problem with shutdown Windows by cmd

This is because Windows 8 and 10 offer a «Fast Startup» option that depends on a «non-complete» shutdown

You can disable fast startup by following these steps under «Power Options»

If you have access to booting and mounting the drive under Windows, do as the message indicates and remove it from the hibernation or fast restarting, or any other special state. You would have to do those things by booting into Windows.

You may also run chkdsk on it from Windows.

If you don’t have immediate boot access under Windows for the drive, do as the message says and mount it as read only.

Then access the drive and copy the important data. You can then repair the drive under Ubuntu by reformatting the partition and bring the backed up data back.

(sorry if my english is bad but i’m belgian)

hi i have a very big problem.
when i boot windows it say :

«TEDFA is compressed
press ctrl+alt+del to reboot now «

and it’s doens’t work of course.

i have boot on linux mint live usb key

i have tryed to acces my drive
but.
linux say:
(my drive is named «louis» because it’s my name)

«Unable to mount louis

I wonder a bit whether chose the right forum for reporting your problem. This is the Linux Mint forum. Your very first problem, however, is a genuine Windows problem!

End of the original story.
Windows thinks that your boot partition is compessed. This may be right or may be wrong. But it is a Windows problem and might have been asked in a Windows forum.
(To the best of my knowledge none of the more recent Windows releases support compressed filesystems any longer. Therefore to me the Windows self-diagnosis reads suspicious, and it raises the question: Which Windows version are we talking about anyway?)

Now you try to resort to Linux Mint and to mount the unbootable NTFS partition from there.

The very elaborate error message tells why the parition will not be mounted, and it tells how to solve the problem:
Restart the hibernated Windows system and shutdown the Windows system cleanly.

This brings us back to the initial problem, which clearly is a Windows problem:

Here are two (Linux) articles which explain what to do in order to make Linux (Mint) mount the hibernated Windows partition nonetheless.
Beware that the explained procedures

• in one case, involves removing the Windows hibernation file hiberfil.sys. By removing this file you delete all information which only exists in this file. I.e. all data which have not bee saved to disk before sending Windows to hibernation will be lost.
• in the other case, involves using a Linux system to to fix an NTFS filesystem. Again this may solve the problem or make things worth. It is highly recommendable to use genuine Windows tools in order to diagnose and fix Windows filesystem problems.

So, you use the following at your own risk.

You posted this same thread on the Windows 7 forums — so that implies you’re running Windows 7, not newer Windows versions. Win7 does not have the newer FastStartup problem of Win8. So, this error message indicates that you either (1) hibernated Win7 and did not «resume» it, or (2) you removed this drive in an unsafe manner, as in turning it (or the PC) off while Win7 was still running.

Sorry, but there are no Linux tools that can fix NTFS problems like this. There is ntfsfix, but that fixes only the most trivial of problems and generally sets the «dirty bit» in NTFS which will force Windows to run a CHKDSK on this drive the next time it is used in Windows.

You could try mounting the drive read-only (to retrieve data) but your best bet is to connect this drive to a working Windows PC and run CHKDSK on it.

New member, been running Mint17.1 for several months but ran into a problem while trying to display video through projector.

You always see the «try the search», «read the forum read me before posting new topic» etc., but I am living proof that understanding your problem, doing a proper search, followed by a few minutes of reading previous posts (recent ones in this case) can really work wonders and I just popped in with my first post ever here to say thanks.

Linux Mint 17.1/WIndows 8.1 dual boot.
Resolution keeps readjusting to default after I manually change it and agree to «keep current resolution» while trying to display concert videos through 720p projector.
Got frustrated so I booted in windows an was able to make change to resolution stick and consistently play the videos.
After the newness of the 100 inch diagonal Dave Matthews concerts accompanied by my Peavey 400w sound system ( ) wore off, I decided to try and resolve the issue within Linux.

Got the dreaded «unable to mount», «windows in hibernated state» when trying to access file system where my videos are kept.

Did a specific search here, weeded through several possibilities by reading several threads and stumbled on this one from the suggested threads list.

Turns out ‘FastStartup’ was enabled which must have kept Windows in hibernated state.

Following a link in user karichen’s post (thanks again), I used these instructions and my problem was solved —

(Booted in WIndows 8.1)

1. Open Control Panel in the small icons view and click on Power Options.
2. Click on Choose what the power buttons do.
3. Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable.
4. Uncheck Turn on fast startup (recommended).
Click on the numbers above to see screenshots.

Click on Save changes. Now, shutdown Windows 8 and boot back into Ubuntu.

So. again, thanks y’all.

It was here that I came to study and find out how to boot Linux from a USB drive before I decided to do the install onto hard disk.

Now, if I can figure out this continuing involuntary resolution change when outing video to my projector in Linux Mint, I’ll be golden.
