Совершенно бессмысленная программа для тех, кто переустанавливает систему. В наше время, когда есть автоэкстракторы — тупо сидеть и вставлять в систему по одному драйверу. ну это верх извращения. Напомню для тех, кто не в курсе: драйвер можно выдернуть более продвинутыми прогами, которые сделают из них EXE-шники. Запускаешь их по очереди, и все.

DriverExtractor 3.1

For a proper operation of any computer device (like modem, printer, video or sound card), the device driver must be installed. A device driver is a set of system files, developed by a device manufacturer. Many drivers, such as the keyboard driver, come with the operating system. These drivers are installed automatically during Windows setup or when a device is plugged in. For other devices, you may need to load a new driver from a device setup CD.

At device driver installation, driver files are copied from a specified location to system folders and get integrated into Windows. DriverExtractor can «reverse» the installation process by searching for all device driver files, retrieving them from Windows system folders and coping into a specified location.

Basically, DriverExtractor recovers a driver and creates a driver files folder, which can be later used to install this driver back into the system.

It has saved us hours everyday. Previously our guys spent at least an hour for every PC that came through painstakingly looking for drivers, across six guys and fifty computers a day that’s over fifty man hours a day which equates to real money saved!

If you can not find the driver but it is installed on another machine this trick will help.

It only works for 3rd party drivers

Create a Folder on the machine to hold all the drivers. In my example I will use c:\temp

Next we need to find the INF name of the installed driver.

• Go to Computer Manager -> Device Manager – Right click on a driver then properties
• Click on Tab details. Select property INF Name. This will give you the right INF name.

Startup powershell in admin mode on the machine that has got the driver.

Type in the following code

Export-WindowsDriver –Online -Destination c:\temp

This wil export all drivers. The output of powershell will give us the locations of the right INF files. Scroll to the right INF name. and look at the originalFIleName . The name that comes after the “C:\windows\System32\Driverstore\FileRepository\” is the name of the folder you need to find in C:\temp . That is the right driver

You can also use this to create a driver package in SCCM without searching for drivers online. As long as you have a reference machine it will work.

Issue

Many enterprise environments disable Windows Update and use their own method for deploying software updates (e.g. SCCM). This is usually achieved using a GPO or the registry key:

This poses an interesting question when it comes to Microsoft driver updates. What do you do when a peripheral device requires a driver update?

One way is to search the Microsoft Update Catalog:

But what happens if you can’t get the driver from MS Update? As an example lets presume a webcam driver is causing issues but the fix is located in a newer version of the driver. Many webcams manufacturers no longer provide driver packs to manually download and deploy. Instead they opt to hardware certify with Microsoft and have the driver added to Windows Update.

The issue is however that these will only extract third party drivers, not quite what we are looking for.

Resolution

There is a utility built into Windows that was the go-to for printer driver deployments on Windows XP/7 called pnputil

Our tool of choice today still works on Windows 10 (1803) and is great for extracting drivers from a device.

Pnputil is located in the following directory %windir%\system32\pnputil.exe and follows the syntax:

Extract to current directory:

C:\Windows\System32\pnputil.exe /export-driver .inf .

Extract to a specified directory (directory must exist):

C:\Windows\System32\pnputil.exe /export-driver .inf

Implementation

Identifying the driver files

Before extracting the drivers however we need to identify the driver files we need. There are a number of ways to do this such as the below.

Get driver INF file

1. 1. Open device manager
      1. Right click the Start button
      2. Click Device Manager

Or for more restrictive environments

1. 1. 1. Open an elevated command prompt
      2. Type devmgmt.msc
   2. Open device properties
      1. Navigate to the device in question
      2. Right click on the device
      3. Click Properties this will bring up the device device properties page
         
   3. Navigate to Inf name property
      1. Click on the Details tab
      2. Select Inf name from the Properties drop down
         
   4. Get Inf Name(s) listed

Alternatively you can query WMI if a programmatic method is required.

Extract Driver

From a device with a working driver

1. Open an elevated command prompt
2. Type the following command to confirm the driver is present:
   C:\Windows\System32\pnputil.exe /enum-drivers | findstr « .inf”
3. 
   For example:
   C:\Windows\System32\pnputil.exe /enum-drivers | findstr «oem49.inf»
   
4. Type the following to extract the driver
   C:\Windows\System32\pnputil.exe /export-driver .inf .
   For example:
   C:\Windows\System32\pnputil.exe /export-driver oem49.inf .
   As this model of webcam has a Mic built-in, we also need to extract the audio driver
   

You will find the drivers in the folder you specified

Conclusion

These extracted drivers are now ready to deploy using your preferred method.

Manual Install:

Simply right click on the .inf file and click Install on the target machine

Pnputil:

Or you can use pnputil itself to install the driver with the following command line:

C:\Windows\System32\pnputil.exe /add-driver «C:\LogitechDrivers\luvc1564v.inf» /install

For multiple drivers, place all drivers in the same directory and use a wildcard
C:\Windows\System32\pnputil /add-driver

Создание резервной копии драйверов (бэкап «дров» в Windows — мини-инструкция)

Метафора : «драйвера — это как шестеренки какого-нибудь механизма, пока они есть и с ними всё хорошо — никто не вспоминает о них, как только хотя бы одной из них нет — трагедия века!».

К чему это я? Дело в том, что многие пользователи не задумываются о драйверах и о том, что можно сделать их бэкап (т.е. резервную копию, так, на всякий случай) . Вспоминают об этом, обычно, когда на следующий день нужно принести распечатанный доклад (курсовую), а драйверов на принтер нет. 👀

В этой статье я хочу показать простой и быстрый способ, как сделать бэкап драйверов (иногда их называют «дровами») , чтобы, например, после переустановки Windows (или в любом другом случае, когда драйверов нет, или произошел конфликт) — можно было легко и быстро восстановить все прежние рабочие драйвера!

Как создать резервную копию драйверов

Double Driver — небольшая утилита, предназначенная для создания резервной копии драйверов. Отличает ее от других программ подобного рода несколько вещей:

1. она бесплатна (что немаловажно!) ;
2. делает бэкап драйверов качественно и быстро ( столь же быстро их и восстанавливает из копии) ;
3. поддерживает все версии Windows: XP, Vista, 7, 8.1, 10 (32/64 bits).

Рассмотрим более подробно, как в ней создается бэкап «дров»:

Сначала запускаете утилиту, и переходите в раздел «Backup». Затем жмете кнопку «Scan Current System» (сканировать текущую систему Windows) ;

Далее, когда будут найдены драйвера, выберите те, которые вы хотите сохранить. Рекомендую выбрать все: для этого нажмите Select/all (как на скриншоте ниже) .

Выбор драйверов для бэкапа

Следующий шаг: необходимо указать папку, где будет сохранена резервная копия. Вообще, рекомендую сохранять ее на вашу аварийную флешку вместе с утилитой Double Driver.

Кстати, драйвера можно сохранить в разных вариантах: structured folder (все драйвера будут разбиты по папкам — очень удобный вариант, его и выбираю); compressed zip (драйвера будут помещены в архив, и будут меньше занимать места); single file self extract (само-распаковывающийся бэкап).

Указание расположения копии

Далее запуститься процесс копирования драйверов: в среднем занимает 1-3 мин. В это время лучше не нагружать ПК посторонними задачами.

Дождитесь появления сообщения о том, что операция была успешно завершена, как на скрине ниже.

Таким образом, создав вовремя копию драйверов, вы можете спокойно переустановить Windows — и восстановить работу всего оборудования за несколько минут. Это очень удобно, да и создает некоторое спокойствие 👌.

Восстановление «дров» из резервной копии

Для восстановления драйверов из бэкапа, нужно:

перейти в раздел «Restore» (если программа потребует администраторские права — согласитесь, пример на скриншоте ниже);

Restore — восстановление / нужны права администратора / Double Driver

Далее, когда программа запуститься с администраторскими правами, в разделе «Restore» , должна появиться кнопка — Locate Backup , нажимаем ее (локальный бэкап, т.е. бэкап на жестком диске, флешке и пр.) ;

Затем указываем папку, куда была сохранены резервная копия;

Указание месторасположения драйверов

Выбираем те драйвера, которые хотим восстановить: рекомендую выбрать все ( select/all ). Затем нажмите кнопку Restore Now (восстановить сейчас) .

Вам останется только дождаться сообщения об успешном восстановлении драйверов. После чего, перезагрузите компьютер/ноутбук. Затем все должно работать, как из «коробки» .

PS

Вообще, для создания копии драйверов есть десятки утилит и программ. Какие-то из них работают из рук вон плохо, другие — вполне сносно.

Если вас Double Driver по какой-то причине не устроил, рекомендую обратить внимание на следующие утилиты: 3D Chip, Driver Easy, SlimDrivers, Driver Genius, Driver Booster и пр. (ссылка 👉 на описание всего этого софта).

Все они могут создать резервную копию драйверов, а затем восстановить ее (обратите внимание: что некоторые продукты не позволяют восстанавливать драйвера из копии без приобретения лицензии. Вот такая вот подстава. ).
