FTNoIR crashes after stopp tracking (Windows 10 20H2)
Yesterday I bought FTNoIR on your website and everything is going fine. Many thanks for your effort.
Unfortunately, there is one small problem. When stopping the tracking, FTNoIR crashes. The following entry appears in the Windows eventviewer:

Known Issues of v200/v201:
The User Interface looks weird, when using a high-DPI monitor (4k)
This problem occurs with «classic Windows Applications», which do not support high DPI-monitors themselves. In April 2018 Microsoft has released a W10 Update, in which this Compatibility issue is patched. To make FaceTrackNoIR look good again:
- Right-click the shortcut of FaceTrackNoIR.exe.
- Go to the Compatibility tab;
- Press the button «Change high DPI settings»;
- In the section «High DPI-scaling override» select «System enhanced»;
- Press OK.
Remark: this setting is saved in the Registry, so you have to set it only once.
The 64-bit version of IL2: Battle of Stalingrad does not respond to FaceTrackNoIR
It seems that the developers of BoS have made a little mistake there, which you can fix manually:
- Browse to the installation folder of FaceTrackNoIR (typically C:\Program Files (x86)\Abbequerque Inc\FaceTrackNoIR_v200).
- Rename the file NPClient.dll to NPClient_org.dll (so you can find it later).
- Rename the file NPClient64.dll to NPClient.dll: BoS should work now.
Remark: if you want to use another game with FaceTrackNoIR, you probably have to reverse the renaming process.
UDP-tracker: portnumber cannot be entered below 5550 and Yaw, Pitch and Roll are only enabled, when X it too.
The header actually says it all:
- The portnumber cannot be entered, below 5550;
- Yaw, Pitch and Roll.are only relayed to FaceTrackNoIR, when the checkbox for X is also checked;
These issues were solved. You can download the fixed DLL from www.facetracknoir.nl.
Besides the fix, the UI for the UDP-tracker was upgraded, so more info is available for the user.
The Steam version of FSX does not respond to FaceTrackNoIR
Apparently the FSX Steam edition does not automatically install the legacy SimConnect interface. The solution is to install it manually:
- Browse to the installation folder of FSX (typically C:\Program Files\Microsoft Flight Simulator X — Steam Edition\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\LegacyInterfaces\FSX-XPACK.
- Run the SimConnect.msi installer (you can probably right-click the file and choose «Install»).
Dummy TrackIR.exe not starting, when there is a space in the installation-path
A (dummy) process called TrackIR.exe is required by some programs (like EZCA) to enable headtracking. This process is not starting, when there is a space in the installation-path. To fix this problem either:
- Install FaceTrackNoIR to a different folder, for instance C:\FaceTrackNoIR or
- Download the fixed DLL from www.facetracknoir.nl.
faceAPI tracker grabs focus, other windows become irresponsive:
The problem is caused by the video-widget, which grabs focus when the tracker starts and the checkbox «show videowidget» is unchecked.
Make sure to check the checkbox, before starting the tracker.
FaceTrackNoIR does not start on (some) PC’s with an ATI Graphics processor (due to incompatible OpenGL)
santobr posted this about this problem (it kinda accurately describes the problem):
If you have an ATI GPU, you know that ATI driver’s team doesn’t like standards, they have their own OpenGL without any standard.
So, if your FaceTrackNoIR loads and then quits without any error, just put the file atioglxx.dll inside the main folder of FaceTrackNoIR.
Yes, yes, just like IL-2, unfortunately. This is not FaceTrackNoIR’s fault, it is ATI driver’s team’s fault. There are things that only ATI does for you.
The only thing is that the dll file can be from Catalyst 11.5 or 11.4, because here everybody knows about the same problem with IL-2. These Catalyst’s versions were the only versions that were full compatible with the OpenGL standard.

Head tracking for everyone — all you need is a webcam and of course, a computer!
No need for any additional equipment. Want to know how to do it? All is described in this guide.

FaceTrackNoIR isn’t free anymore through the official site, you can read the creator’s story and decide whether you want to donate to get the newest version or download an older version from the site I will specify below.
Download site link [soft.mydiv.net] (it’s in Russian, how to download below)
We need Opentrack because of the 64-bit DLL required for FaceTrackNoIR to work on 64-bit ETS2.
Opentrack download [github.com]
Download the .exe (scroll down a bit until the ‘Downloads’ section).
After you’ve downloaded both of the programs, install them and make sure they are in different directories. Don’t just speed through the installation.
Navigate to the folder where you installed Opentrack (not FaceTrackNoIR).
Open the subfolder «modules» and locate the file «NPClient64.dll» and copy it (don’t paste it anywhere yet).
Once you have copied the .dll, navigate to the folder where you installed FaceTrackNoIR.
Locate the ‘NPClient64.dll‘ file and rename it to, for example ‘NPClient64-backup.dll‘ (make sure you know how you named it incase something went wrong).
Now you can paste the ‘NPClient64.dll‘ from Opentrack into the FaceTrackNoIR folder.
FaceTrackNoIR installation may not create a desktop shortcut. If it doesn’t, navigate to where you installed it, right-click on the FaceTrackNoIR.exe and click «Send to > Desktop (create shortcut)».
When you start FaceTrackNoIR for the first time, it will look something like this (webcam model may differ):
You can either download my configuration from <ССЫЛКА УДАЛЕНА>here and put it into the FaceTrackNoIR directory into the Settings folder. You can tweak it if it doesn’t suit you.
In order for face tracking to work, your face needs to be well-lit and the webcam has to be centered on your face. If it’s a bit off, it will still work.
Click on Settings, and make sure FreeTrack protocol is selected.
Make sure «Start dummy TrackIR.exe» is ticked and under «Select interface», select «Use TrackIR, hide FreeTrack».
Click the «Curves» button, and you can tweak how much you move your head for how much the camera moves in-game.
Here are my settings (curves & translations):
Installation (Core program and PluginPack):
First install the Core Program:
After downloading the core installer from E-Junkie, you can start it (run as Administrator).
You can enter a different folder to install the program. It’s best to leave all options default and proceed with the installation.
During the installation, the VC++ runtime libraries are automatically installed. You can choose not to install the 64-bit VC++ if you have a 32-bit Windows version.
Select components
The core program installer contains a number of «basic» protocols, the UDP tracker and the EWMA-filter. You can choose to deselect some of them.
After this, move to installing the PluginPack.
Install the PluginPack:
After downloading the PluginPack installer from the download page, you can start it (run as Administrator).
The installer will check for the presence of the core program and will install the components to the same folder.
The installer will ask you to comply to the OSC-license agreement, which applies to some of the components.
Select components
The PluginPack installer contains a number of protocols, trackers and the Accela-filter. If you know which tracker you want to use and which protocol your game needs, you can choose to deselect the others. You can always install them later, by running the installer again.
After this, you can start using FaceTrackNoIR.

Welcome to the FaceTrackNoIR website.
For quite some time now, commercial as well as non-commercial face-tracking programs are available, that make gaming and ‘simming’ fun: by just moving your head, you can look around in the game you play! The existing programs have proven their power and are used by many people around the world. These programs have also got a few shortcomings: they may cost you quite a bit and they require the users to wear some clip, hat or other device with LED’s to make it work. To make face-tracking available to everyone and eliminate the need for anything but your computer and a (simple) webcam, we started making FaceTrackNoIR in May 2010 and by now, over 400 games/sims can be played with it.
FaceTrackNoIR supports the Free-track-protocol, TrackIR enhanced games and can be used with VJoy Mouse emulation, for games that are not supported elsewhere. Especially for FlightGear we incorporated an UDP-protocol.
Since version 1.4 support is available for MS Flight Simulator 2002, 2004 and FSX, as well as some older games like CFS3.
Version v200 contains some big changes: FaceTrackNoIR is much more modular, so new headtrackers, filters and game-protocols can be added easily.
Please visit the Downloads Page for information on the latest version.
Technology:
FaceTrackNoIR is available for Windows-based PC’s and has been succesfully used on XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10. The program was written in (Visual Studio) C++ The program also uses the Qt-toolkit from Nokia for the User-interface. The PluginPack for FaceTrackNoIR is open-source: you can download the sources from the SourceForge repository. We are investigating the possibilities to build a Linux version.
Several 3rd party developments API’s are used to build parts of the program:
