Здравствуйте!
Сейчас для подключения MacBook air 13 (macOS Mojave версии 10.14.1) к интернету через iPhone SE необходимо, чтобы: 1 — в настройках iPhone был включен режим модема; 2 — на MacBook — выбран этот iPhone в меню выбора сети wifi (веер в правом верхнем углу рабочего стола).
Т.к. оба этих устройствах подключены к iCloud через один и тот же Apple ID, то, как я понимаю, не требуется включать режим модема и устройства должны сами себя автоматически находить в ближнем радиусе и осуществлять взаимодействие. Однако сейчас эта функция не работает (насколько я помню, до замены мат.платы на MacBook все работало).
Я пытался восстановить эту функцию по инструкции Использование мобильного телефона для подключения компьютера Mac к Интернету, но на 4-м шаге не смог выбрать свой iPhone — недоступен список устройств 🙁
Последовательность действий такова:
- подключаю MacBook и iPhone через Bluetooth — т.е. выполняю шаги 1 и 2 указаной выше инструкции (https://drive.google.c…e3LS-/view?usp=sharing)
- на MacBook перехожу в настройки сети, затем в «Bluetooth» (шаг 3), но там список устройств недоступен, не могу выбрать iPhone — не выполняется шаг 4 (https://drive.google.c…La2mj/view?usp=sharing)

Дополнительные сведения:
- плата на macbook менялась, но apple id на macbook остался и в разделе «мои устройства» icloud.com этот macbook виден
- в настройках Mac отключен доступ к Интернету через Bluetooth, как включить — не знаю (https://drive.google.c…0afMB/view?usp=sharing)
- как я вижу, очень нестабильное подключение между macbook и iphone по Bluetooth (постоянно разрывается)
- при этом при попытке обеспечить стабильность подключения я на MacBook удалял файл /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist по инструкции Как исправить проблему с Bluetooth на Mac

Ничего ни с чем сопрягать не нужно. Если уже сопряжено — удалит и все.
Достаточно чтобы:
— на устройстве и на маке включен BT
— на маке должен быть включен wifi
— на устройстве режим модема выключен, но он разрешен оператором
— если все ок, то нажав на значек wifi кроме сетей, еще увидите и имя устройство с пометкой «режим модема» и знаком сети подключения EGDE/3G/LTE и уровнем заряда
В одно туче мак и устройство или нет — разница только с вводом пароля

все указанные вами условия выполнены, а именно:
— на iPhone включен BT и выключен режим модема
— на Mac включен BT и wifi
на Mac нажимаю значок wifi и вижу название iPhone в разделе «режим модема», и это название снабжено индикаторами уровней: сети оператора с lte, заряда батареи. Но при этом интернета нет iPhone в списке сетей wifi, но интернета нет
чтобы появился интернет, нужно кликнуть по названию iPhone, тогда на iPhone автоматически включится режим модема и интернет появится Необходимо кликнуть по iPhone, включится режим модема и появится интернет
Как я понимаю, это некорректное поведение связки Mac — iPhone. Не подскажите, как устранить?

If Personal Hotspot is not working on your iPhone or iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular)
With Personal Hotspot, you can share the cellular data connection of your iPhone or iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular) with another device. If you need help with Personal Hotspot, follow these steps.
Use these steps first
Try connecting again after each step.
- Check that Personal Hotspot is turned on in Settings > Personal Hotspot. If you can’t find or turn on Personal Hotspot, check that your wireless carrier enabled it and that your wireless plan supports it.
- Restart the iPhone or iPad that provides Personal Hotspot and the other device that needs to connect to Personal Hotspot.
- Make sure that you have the latest version of iOS or iPadOS.
- On the iPhone or iPad that provides Personal Hotspot, go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset, then tap Reset Network Settings.

If you can’t connect to Personal Hotspot with Wi-Fi
On the device that provides Personal Hotspot, go to Settings > Personal Hotspot, then follow these steps:
- Make sure that Allow Others to Join is on.
- Remember the device’s Wi-Fi network name and password that appear on this screen. If you want to change the Wi-Fi network name, learn how to change your device name.
- If you’re using an iPhone 12 model or later, turn on Maximize Compatibility. Then try connecting your devices again to your Personal Hotspot.
- Stay on this screen until you connect your other device to the Wi-Fi network.
On the device that needs to connect to Personal Hotspot, follow these steps:
- Turn Wi-Fi off and back on.
- Make sure that you connect to the correct Wi-Fi network. The network name is the same as the iOS device that provides Personal Hotspot and the Personal Hotspot icon might appear next to it.
- If you see a password error when you try to join Personal Hotspot, check the Wi-Fi password: On the device that provides Personal Hotspot, go to Settings > Personal Hotspot to see the Wi-Fi password.
If you can’t connect to Personal Hotspot with USB
To avoid unnecessary data charges, turn off Personal Hotspot when you don’t need it. If you don’t, every time you plug your iOS device with Personal Hotspot into your computer to charge, your computer might connect to Personal Hotspot.
Follow the steps below for your Mac.
Connect your Mac to Personal Hotspot with USB
- Update to the latest version of iTunes.
- With a USB cable, connect your Mac to the iPhone or iPad that provides Personal Hotspot. If prompted, trust the device.
- Make sure that you can locate and view your iPhone or iPad in iTunes or the Finder. If your Mac doesn’t recognize your device, try a different USB cable.
- Go to System Preferences > Network, then select iPhone USB. If you don’t see it, click the Add button and add it.
- Click the More button , choose Make Service Inactive, then click Apply.
- Click the More button , choose Make Service Active, then click Apply. If you already have a different network connection, your Personal Hotspot connection might not activate until you uncheck “Disable unless needed” and click Apply.
If you can’t connect to Personal Hotspot with Bluetooth
Use the steps below to pair your devices and connect to Personal Hotspot with Bluetooth.
Pair your devices
- On the device that provides Personal Hotspot, go to Settings > Personal Hotspot and make sure Allow Others to Join is on.
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth and make sure that Bluetooth is on.
- Keep this screen open, then follow the steps for the device that needs to connect:
- On your iPad or iPod touch, tap Settings > Bluetooth and make sure Bluetooth is on. Tap the device that provides Personal Hotspot, confirm the code that appears, then tap Pair on both devices.
- On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Bluetooth and make sure Bluetooth is on. Select the device providing Personal Hotspot, click Connect, then follow the onscreen instructions.
- On your Windows PC, click the Bluetooth icon in the Notification area and make sure Bluetooth is on. Choose Add a Bluetooth Device, then follow the onscreen instructions.
Connect to Personal Hotspot with Bluetooth
- On your Mac, click the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar or click Bluetooth in Control Center. Choose your iOS device that provides Personal Hotspot, then choose Connect to Network. If you can’t connect, skip to the next section.

If you still can’t connect to Personal Hotspot with Bluetooth
On your devices, turn Bluetooth off and back on:
- On your iOS or iPadOS devices, go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and back on.
- On your Mac, click the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar or click Bluetooth in Control Center, then turn Bluetooth off and back on.
- On your PC, choose Settings, click the Bluetooth icon , then turn Bluetooth off and back on.
If you still can’t connect, follow these steps:
- Unpair your device:
- On the iPad or iPod touch that needs to connect to Personal Hotspot, tap Settings > Bluetooth. Tap the Info icon next to the device that provides Personal Hotspot, then tap Forget this Device.
- On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Bluetooth. Select the device that provides Personal Hotspot, then click the Remove button .
- On your Windows PC, click the Bluetooth icon in the Notification area. Select «Show Bluetooth devices» and select the device that provides Personal Hotspot. Click Remove, then click OK.
- Restart all your devices.
- Pair your devices and try again to connect to Personal Hotspot.

Question: Q: remote hotspot failure unable to start personal hotspot
Got an iPhone 5s and iPad 4th gen both running iOS8.0. On the iPad I can see my 5s which shows battery, signal strength etc, however when I attempt to start the personal hotspot remotely, I get «Remote Hotspot Failure — unable to start personal hotspot on «.
I’ve ensured that both devices are logged into the same iCloud account. Both devices have had full network settings reset and the iPhone 5s was actually set up from new recently also. Using pesonal hotspot as normal works however I wanted to enable the remote part as it would be handy.
Anyone got any advice?

Was doing a bit more testing after posting this and the scenario to get it working seems to be strange.
If both iPad and iPhone are on the same wifi network, then creating the remote hotspot works fine (counter intuitive if you ask me.)/
Forget the previous wifi network and it still carries on working.
Reboot both devices after forgetting the wifi network and it doesn’t work anymore.
So it doesn’t appear to work as seamlessly as first claimed unless i’ve got a really weird setup.
anyone else able to confirm this behaviour?

I’m having the same problem with my iPhone 5s and a iPad mini retina , both on iOS 8.0.
Surprisingly it did work today for 5 minutes when I was on the road, but it hasn’t worked since.
Is it a bug in ios 8?

I can’t connect my iPad to iphone6, both are on iOS 8. Get a message «Remote Hotspot Failure». Apple fix it pls!

I’m having the same issue. I have an iPhone 6 running iOS 8.0.2 and an iPad Air also running IOS 8.0.2.
On the iPad I see my name listed under personal hotspots but when I chose it I am never connected. Eventually I received the error «Remote Hotspot Error». What’s weird is that the name that appears in the wifi name is my full name and not the name that appears under General > About > Name.
This is the zero configure hostpot functionality that is suppose to be part of Hand Off and not the carrier hotspot stuff.

Hey all, i updated both my ipad and iphone to 8.0.2 and I’m still getting inconsistency. Almost seems like they have to have been on the same wifi network recently (i.e. hours) in order to use the remote hotspot.
Tried it on the train coming back from work this afternoon and had to resort to manually turning hotspot on. The remote attempt from ipad to iphone actually did turn hotspot on but didnt get any further.
I’m afraid it definitely isn’t as seamless as its been portrayed as which is a real shame.
Also I’d love it if family account members could see each others devices too as i think this would be an excellent feature.

I seem have it working now. I had to reset all settings on my iPad. I noticed the name of the Wi-FI network was showing my iPhone 5 name and not my iPhone 6 name. Since there’s no way to forget the personal hotspot I needed to clear the settings. I tried to just clean the network settings but that didn’t work. I had to reset all settings.

I Had the same problem being unable to connect my iPad to my iPhone 5 iOS 8 both. Today I found out that Apple created another hotspot with different name ‘iphone’ and putting my pass in there I connected in a minute. The old hotspot ‘. ‘s iphone’ don’t work.

I believe it’s showing iPhone because if you looks at settings General about that’s the name on your new phone. Once I changed the name from iPhone to a more descriptive name I had to reset all settings on my iPad.

I Just switched back to the iPhone from a few Andriod/Windows phones and I’m pretty happy except the lack of a reliable hotspot is really making it difficult to use the iPhone for business. I’m on the road a lot and need the ability to use my laptop and iPad. I’ve never had a problem with my other phones (all on AT&T, the same as this one) but when I turn on the hotspot for my iPhone 6 (ios 8.0.2) it either won’t connect to my iPad Air (iOS 8.0.2) and laptop, or when it does it will takes so long to connect that I give up. sometimes when the iPad goes to sleep I have to power cycle both devices before the hotspot will reactivate — and even then it can still take a little bit of time. I have changed the network’s name and always try toggling the hotspot and wi-fi on and off — but nothing seems to make it work consistently.
I really like the phone — but not enough to have to pay for and carry around a dedicated hotspot in order to get my iPad and laptop online.

I found myself using it last night when my fixed line broadband failed and on my 5s it was robust adn stayed up for a few hours whilst I was sorting the fixed line.
I still have unpredictability starting it remotely though and regarding the names, I discovered when I reset all settings that it did wipe out the names so had to rename them all, sign out of icloud, sign back in and eventually it showed up again.
