Failed to load module gail astra linux

ALT Linux:
update:

update:

Failed to load module «gail»: (перечисленное ниже выполнилось с ошибками, но, тем не менее, ошибка устранилась)

Gtk-WARNING *: 10:04:15.146: Загружаемый модуль тем не найден в module_path: «murrine» *:

Gtk-Message: 10:05:11.057: Failed to load module «canberra-gtk-module» :

Осталась еще одна и может быть тогда я решу проблему:
Gtk-Message: 11:38:11.906: Failed to load module «atk-bridge»

Gtk-Message: Failed to load module «gail» «atk-bridge» «canberra-gtk-module» #103

This is the error I got. Any suggestions. I’ve installed Spotify from the Ubuntu Software App.(Perhaps it may have been a snap package?)

Looks like you missed the installation step ( sudo make install ).

Perhaps it may have been a snap package?

That could be another problem. Make sure you’ve installed the Debian package. You can find the instructions at the bottom of this page.

Ah Yes! Thanks it works! However, I have this error now: (Should I open a new issue?)

Try running make clean and then go through the build and install steps again.

Okay, I did a clean Install of Spotify, logged in, and did this: It doesn’t seem to be working. Any suggestions? Is there a problem with my $PATH or something? (I’m running Ubuntu 20,04 LTS)

The adblocker seems to be installed correctly now. There’s still something wrong with your Spotify installation though. It looks like there’s a broken symlink from /usr/bin/spotify to /snap/bin/spotify leftover from the snap package.

I was using sudo -i for root user, this was taking me to [email protected]

which only had «snap» directory in it, but I realized that In Ubuntu20.04, I need to use sudo -s to be [email protected]

/home/rkj# . Now When I do ls in [email protected] trix

/home/rkj# I get this as the output:

Spotify exists as a shortcut, and when I click it, «Spotify Free» opens with ads:

This is from /usr/bin . It has ‘spotify` in it:

I tried running ./spotify from /usr/bin too, and got this error:

Also, from the CMD_LINE:

should I do make clean and make install from the spotify-adblock-linux directory?

Ubuntu Bionic. When starting gimp from cli. I saw windows and so. Seemed working. But error messages in output:

The text was updated successfully, but these errors were encountered:

diddledani commented Apr 4, 2018

I don’t know what they mean, but as you say the program works fine. Every GNOME-based snap application seems to emit the same messages.

m93a commented May 21, 2018

My Gimp doesn’t even start. It fails with Failed to load module «atk-bridge» . I have both libatk-adaptor and libatk-adaptor:i368 installed 😕

damiancs commented Aug 1, 2018 •

I have the exact same problem.
After running sudo snap refresh core —beta everything went back to normal.

Hathoute commented Aug 20, 2018

Tried sudo snap refresh core —beta , didn’t work.
I also get the same messages.
The problem is that I cannot access to Python-Fu.

Hathoute commented Aug 20, 2018 •

I managed to fix the issue.
If you have installed GIMP from Snap, run sudo snap remove gimp to uninstall it.
Then install the latest version by running
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:otto-kesselgulasch/gimp
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gimp
PS: if you have ubuntu 18.04, you don’t need sudo apt-get update

diddledani commented Nov 9, 2018

I’m closing this issue. Please open a new issue if you have any other problems or concerns

ningacoding commented Mar 9, 2019

m93a commented Mar 9, 2019 •

@ningacoding Please provide more info. Have you installed GIMP with apt instead of snap ? What distro are you on? Your comment as it stands isn’t useful to anybody.

ningacoding commented Mar 10, 2019 •

You right, sorry if i didn’t add details, it looks like it’s a general problem, not related to Gimp, it also happens to

7.0.4 with

Ubuntu LTS18.04.2
snap 2.38 pre1
snapd 2.38 pre1
series 16
kernel 4.15.0-46-generic

Throwing exactly the same message:

Gtk-Message: Failed to load module «gail»
Gtk-Message: Failed to load module «atk-bridge»
Gtk-Message: Failed to load module «canberra-gtk-module»

THE PROBLEM HERE IS SNAP WITH UBUNTU

m93a commented Mar 10, 2019

Yes, that’s what Hathoute found, his fix also worked for me. Disable snap and install Gimp with apt and it will be cool 👌

diddledani commented Mar 10, 2019

These messages are not indicative of an error. If the snap isn’t working for you then please file a new issue with as much information on your setup and how it is failing. Please don’t use the snap’s issue tracker to promote other packaging systems or their packages, because this isn’t the place for that.

The errors are related to open source drivers, I guess you didn’t install the proprietary drivers.

To install the drivers go to «Software & Updates», they are under the «Additional Drivers» tab.

This may solve the swrast error:

sudo apt-get install libgl1-mesa-dri libgl1-mesa-dri:i386

And this may solve the gail and atk-bridge errors:

sudo apt-get install libatk-adaptor:i386 libgail-common:i386

idk but it seems like there is no AMD, strange though.

ok, cat on linux, any rescures or guides i should know to practise on?

for starters, you can check this guide on loading into repair mode. it will allow you to access your system from command line and install/repair drivers
https://linuxconfig.org/ubuntu-boot-repair

also here’s instructions for correct driver in Ubuntu 18 (things changed since v14 so you’ll have to check your GPU make and determine which drivers you should use and which can be the replacement in case something goes wrong with the first one)
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/AMD

95% chance you won’t need it as Linux now handles video drivers much better than 4-5 years ago, but to come prepared you can use guides for emergency

upd. forgot to mention, you’ll more likely need Radeon Drivers (not GPUPRO). options are Radeon or Radeon HD, so when you will pick from drivers to install these are compatible with your card make.

I had a AMD HD 7770 GPU (a GCN 1.0 card) on my PC until recently so I can say that Radeon opensource driver did come built-in on Mesa.

Radeon works quite fine now on Ubuntu 18.04 (or Linux Mint 19.1 in my case, which is heavily based on that version of Ubuntu). It’s not like 2014, when AMD was strugling with possible bankrupcy and still not focused on their opensource linux driver stack. Back then they had pretty lousy windows drivers too, by the way ;P

So this means you get to install Ubuntu 18.04 or newer and things will just work, with zero further setup and no need of proprietary drivers. In fact, Radeon is recommended over the proprietary flgrx now, has better support by AMD themselves. And you even have the option (totally optional) of running AMDGPU instead of RADEON, despite being just experimental in latest versions it was working reasonably for a lot of people.

The PRO drivers from AMD’s website are only relevant if you want OpenCL (used for professional parallel processing tasks, not gaming or home usage of the computer).

And don’t expect Vulkan on Radeon, but then again you are on Ubuntu 14, which didn’t have it at all either way. AMDGPU does have it but the GCN 1.0 cards are old and weak compared to a lot of today’s cards so there is not many cases where it would be necessary.

Anyway, to test it out is very easy, just make an installation pendrive with a recent version of Ubuntu (18.04 or 18.10). Liveboot it and you’ll be able to see if it boots to a black screen, browse the web, play some videos and maybe even install and run supertuxkart to test 3d gaming performance a bit.

All of that can be done from the pendrive before even running the installation wizzard, so zero chance of damaging your Ubuntu 14.

hi guys, thank you a lot for encouraging me to upgrade. but now i upgraded to ubuntu 16, and still it didnot ork idk why.
