I just had the same problem. osx el capitan and m-audio fast track pro didn`t work.

Helpful answers
Maybe try again installing the drivers and then deleting again. This is a VERY technical procedure.😉
Anyway, I searched again on my computer and found some more files related to the USB fastTrack pro card:
All of them in the User/library/:
/Application Support/Avid/M-Audio Fast Track Pro Firmware Updater
and the two ones that I mentioned in the previous post which I had kept in my desktop folder, (just in case I would need them again):
M-Audio Fast Track Pro.kext
M-Audio Fast Track Pro.prefPane
So I deleted everything and restarted. Still works fine. Fast Track Pro appears in my output and input options of the system, as well as in Logic, Audio Hijack and Guitar Rig (here it just shows and even captures the signal, but doesn’t play any sound)

After a lot of research and troubleshooting I’ve found how to get the M-Audio Fast Track Pro working on El Capitan:
2. Copy the Driver from System/Library/Extensions
3. Paste the Driver to Library/Extensions
4. (Optional) Delete the Driver from original location System/Library/Extensions (it doesn’t make any difference)
5. Restart the Computer > Go to System Preferences > Sound > The M-Audio Fast Track Pro should appear listed under the Audio Devices drop down list.
If still not showing try these steps instead:
2. Copy the Driver from System/Library/Extensions
3. Paste the Driver to Library/Extensions
4. (Optional) Delete the Driver from original location System/Library/Extensions (it doesn’t make any difference)
5. Open Terminal
6. Type «cd Library/Extensions» and hit Enter»
7. Type «sudo chmod -R 755 copiedkextname.kext» and hit Enter again
8. type «sudo chown -R root:wheel copiedkextname.kext» and hit Enter one more time
9. Restart the Computer > Go to System Preferences > Sound > The M-Audio Fast Track Pro should appear listed under the Audio Devices drop down list.
Important: In my case I had an old version of the Driver located in Library/Extensions. You can go ahead and remove the old one and replace it for the new one (Step 3) although I think it doesn’t make any difference if you leave both .kext files there. By the way I think this is for all hardware Drivers that were working fine under Yosemite but not in El Capitan.
