Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

Follow the below steps to delete favorites.

  • Click on Hub icon (this is icon with three horizontal lines) then click on favorites.
  • Right click on favorite folder or website that you want to remove and click «Remove».

If you are still unable to remove them, place the computer in clean boot state and check.

To help troubleshoot error messages and other issues, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This kind of startup is known as a «clean boot.» A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Placing your system in Clean Boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. You need to follow the steps from the article mentioned below to perform a Clean Boot.

Note : Refer «How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting» to reset the computer to start as normal after troubleshooting.

Hope this helps. If the issue remains unresolved, please get back to us and we would be happy to help.

Hi Ratboy, thanks for your question. I’m Graeme, a Microsoft Community expert and fellow user.

There should be a Favorites album in the Photos app which contains all the photos you’ve marked as favorite. The purpose is to allow quick access to your favorite photos.

Here’s an article that might help you use the feature:

Let me know if you’re having trouble finding the favorites album!

Are you using an application such as Lightroom? Or, are you referring to selecting Favorite option in Bing.com Images?

Or are you referring to Rating Photos?
Rating means it’s one of your Favorite Photos or Videos.

In File Explorer > Search
Type Rating > Select Star # to locate Favorites

I found the Favorites albums in Photos. However the photo I just flagged as a «Favorite» is not there. I double-checked the photo in File Explorer and «favorite» heart is still indicated, but it’s not in the Favorites album. Is your explanation describing the following: (1) double-click a photo from File Explorer; (2) click the heart (Favorite); (3) then the photo is supposed to appear in Favorites folder of the Photos app?

Maybe I don’t understand what the Photos app is. Double-clicking a photo from File Explorer opens the photo: is that in the Photos app? Do I have to somehow associate all the photos files in File Explorer with the Photos app in order to effectively use the «Favorite» flag?

How to: Add the Favorites folder to the Windows 10 Start Menu

Technical Level : Basic

Favorites have been a part of the Windows shell system as far back as the first version of Internet Explorer. Since then, Favorites has been integrated deeply within Windows as a way to store quick access to our favorite websites and even resources on an Intranet, hence the name, ‘Favorites’. Since the introduction of the two pane menu in Windows XP, Favorites has been a quickly accessible location, with Windows 10 though, this is not available by default. You can still enable it, but the method has changed, in this article, we show you how to do it.

Open your User Folder:

Press Windows key + R

Type: %userprofile%

Hit Enter on your keyboard

Right click Favorites folder and click Pin to Start

This will add Favorites tile to the Start menu, see below.

Select it with your left mouse button and drag to recent items menu shortcut list then release.

Favorites will be added to the Start menu.

Unlike Favorites in Windows 7, this does not have the sub menu links, see below:

Here is a work around you can use:

if you use Internet Explorer, you can Press Alt + C > Favorites (tab) and quickly access your favorites that way or press Alt on your keyboard > click Favorites to access them.

Another alternative

Open your User folder

Press Windows key + R

Right click and Copy your Favorites Folder

Paste it on the desktop

Rename it Favorites 2

Go back in the User folder

Open Favorites again

Open the Favorites Bar folder

Drag and drops Favorites 2 folder in there

Right click the Taskbar > Toolbar > Links

This will enable the Links menu on the Taskbar

Click it and you should see something similar but even quicker.

Add Favorites in Photos in Windows 10

The Photos app is a Universal (Metro) app which comes pre-installed in Windows 10. It is a Store app which is intended to replace Windows Photo Viewer, since Microsoft wants to make the whole user environment look and work the same on Windows 10 Mobile and Windows 10 for PCs. However, interested users can restore the classic desktop app, Windows Photo Viewer. With recent updates, you can mark an image as a favorite. The Photos app will create a new «Favorites» album for you.

The built-in Photos app allows viewing images and performing basic editing. Its tile is pinned to the Start menu. Also, the app is associated with most image file formats out of the box. Photos offers very basic functionality to view images from the user’s local drive or from the OneDrive cloud storage.

The Photos app automatically shows the photos and videos stored in the local Pictures folder along with files stored in OneDrive. The user can add a custom location to those folders. See

Note: At the moment of this writing, the Photos app which comes bundled with Windows 10 on Skip Ahead doesn’t allow adding an image to favorites if it is not stored in the This PC\Pictures or OneDrive\Pictures folders. This will be fixed eventually.

To add an image to favorites in Photos in Windows 10, do the following.

  1. Open Photos. Its tile is pinned to the Start menu by default.
  2. Open an image. As mentioned above, the image must be stored in the Pictures folder as of this writing.
  3. Click on the heart icon on the toolbar at the top edge of the View page.
  4. Alternatively, yon can right-click on the image and select Add to favorites from the context menu.

How to access Favorites in Photos in Windows 10

Favorites is a special album in the Photos app. It can be accessed from the main page of the app. Click on the Albums tab. You will see the Favorites album in the Created for you section.

From there, you can quickly remove the photos from Favorites. Open the album, right-click on the image and select Remove from favorites from the context menu.

Alternatively, you can open the image and click on the heart icon. This will remove the already added image from Favorites.

I can’t find the favorite album in my photos app, even though I already added some photos to favorite.

I have the same issue. Clicked some hearts to favorite my photos but now in the photos app there’s no favorites folder.

same. no favorites folder

The photos have to be in your pictures folder. Won’t work if they are in any other folder.

Thank you – it wasn’t working for me but my pictures were on my c drive in a folder, not in pictures. I had already spent hours marking favorites. I was able to copy and paste my folder to Pictures and it retained my faves and created the folder. Phew. Thanks!

Thanks! Save my day )

No favorites folder exists. Pictures are gone.

I was finally able to find the favorties folder in my photo app. Now how can I copy them into a folder in my pictures folders? This shouldn’t be this difficult!
