A 2019-release from The Circular Ruins, on the fantastic Databloem-label this time! Anthony Paul Kerby, the mastermind and soundsculptor behind The Circular Ruins made an album that is honestly on repeat here on my in-ears for days.. What an absolute masterwork! To my ears it has become a very introvert, immersive, and sensitive album.. Maybe a little less majestic as I sometimes feel his music can sound, but more towards the inner self, at least that’s how I feel it.. Also this album feels a little more ‘spacy’ I think.. The sounds and soundeffects are unmistakable APK, but there’s also a calmness underneath it all that really attracts me.. As a matter of fact, there’s no other album from T.C.R. that was so many times on repeat as this one.. Amazing that this album is on the excellent Databloem label, by Dennis Knopper. This guarantees a top-notch physical release! So please treat yourself and order the cd-version as well.. This masterpiece really belongs in your ambient-collection, with this stunning musical art in your ears and the beautiful physical artwork in your hands. congrats Anthony and Dennis! Kudos. Berkdrums

APK during a tremendous creative period with a lot of inspiration and ideas. the man is unstoppable! (Nunc Stans, The Circular Ruins, The Winterhouse-collaborations with kindred spirit Robert Davies, the digital-only releases as Fictions And Poetics).. APK’s music, or sound-paintings as I like to call them, is always moving.. it’s always in motion. With ‘Outer Limit’ we travel to the vast open spaces, the outer rim of the galaxy.. It’s a deserted place, farther away than we can imagine. A place and space to reflect on our behavior on this earth.. I really feel this is an album that grows and grows on me. I was amazed after the first spin, and now it gets under my skin.. Work of art, created with passion and feel, with APK’s typical own style and feel. And maybe the perfect time of release at the end of yet another year. congrats Anthony! Berkdrums

Finally, new album from two absolute KINGS of pastoral-, and drone-ambient.. Unlit Passages is a stunning piece of work with an almost fairytale-kind-of-atmosphere. The titletrack sounds as if APK has his fingerprints all over this amazing start of the album. A haze of drones with very challenging and unexpected soundeffects. On Doubts the typical ‘The Winterhouse-sound’ has arrived.. A Long Arrival and Behind Closed Doors to me sound like they’re made from the same mold, and I mean this in a very positive way!! In A Long Arrival I love the kind of singing bowls-effects and gong-like sounds over these peaceful drones. In Behind..the mystical atmosphere that covers the entire album is again present, on all tracks there is also a constant motion, everything is moving, crawling, with stunning soundeffects or some beautiful melodic chords popping up.. this gives the album also a spiritual feel. On You Will Remain Here for me everything comes together in this stunning final track! A must-have-album!! Congrats Anthony & Robert!! Berkdrums
