Installation

• Click the «Download» button to begin.
• Double-click the file (FINAL_FANTASY_XIV_ONLINE_x64.dmg) once the download is complete. Follow the on-screen instructions and drag the FINAL FANTASY XIV ONLINE icon into the Applications folder.

For Users of the 32-bit Application

To carry over settings from the 32-bit application, you need to upload your settings using the Server Backup option, which can be found in the character selection screen.

Back Up Character Settings

Save a backup of local character settings, HUD layout, hotbars, gear sets, and more to the server.

First time playing FINAL FANTASY XIV? Don’t worry! This section will explain the basics of setting up an account, creating a character, and getting your adventure started. The game is currently localized into English, French, German, and Japanese so we hope this quick overview will help you start playing now! Let’s go!

Select a data center

When you log in for the first time, you’ll select a regional data center for the fastest connection! Your choice of data center will determine which Worlds you can choose from after creating your character. You can change your data center anytime.

Create a Character

• Click Start, and New Character.
• Begin by selecting your race, clan, and gender. You can customize your character’s appearance, select their nameday, and a patron deity.
• Select your starting class. Your character’s class is determined by which tool or weapon you’ve equipped. The class you select determines which city-state your character will start in.
• Select your city-state. Your character’s starting city is determined by their starting class.

Worlds and Friends

• Select your World (each data center has specific Worlds). If you are planning to play together with friends, note which World and which data center you’re on.
• FINAL FANTASY XIV has been divided into several Worlds. Whether they are playing on Windows PC, PlayStation 3, or on PlayStation 4, all players will enjoy the same story and game content in any of the Worlds. However, to play together with friends, all friends must be in the same World.
• You can change Worlds using a transfer service available at the Mog Station. Please note that this transfer requires a fee.

Finish Your Character

Enter a forename and surname for your character, and click Confirm.
If you are satisfied with your character, press OK to begin adventuring!

Help Windows

As you progress through the early stages of the game, tutorial screens (active help windows) will appear to provide a gradual introduction to the various controls. To view the tutorial, just click the question mark icon when it comes up on screen. You can always go back and see previous help tutorials by selecting Active Help in the System menu.

Basic Controls

FINAL FANTASY XIV includes a tutorial to help you gradually learn the controls. Here is an overview! You can choose between mouse/keyboard controls, or gamepad controls. To change control settings, press the Esc key or select System in the main menu.

Character Movement

You can move your character using either a keyboard or mouse. When using a keyboard, press the WASD keys to move.
When using a mouse, press the left and right mouse buttons at the same time to move forward. To change direction while moving, keep both buttons pressed and drag the mouse left or right.

Camera Controls

To control the camera, drag the mouse while holding the left or right mouse button.

Target Selection

• Player character: open command submenu
• NPC: start a conversation
• Enemy: engage auto-attack
• Object: interact with the object

Keyboard Controls

• Movement
• Move Forward — W
• Move Back — S
• Turn Left — A
• Turn Right — D
• Strafe Left — Q
• Strafe Right — E
• Toggle Between Run/Walk — NUM/
• Turn On/Off Auto-Run — R
• Jump — Spacebar

Character Movement

Move your character by using the left analog stick. Hold down B then use the left analog stick to make your character walk. By pressing LB while using the left analog stick, you can set your character to auto-run. This can be canceled by pressing LB again. To jump, press Y. This can be used to leap over obstacles like small rocks or low fences.

Camera Controls

Use the right analog stick to control the camera. By holding down LB, you can zoom the camera in and out. * The direction of camera rotation can be changed in the Character Configuration menu.

Target Selection

To target a character or object, first face your target and press A. When a target circle appears, press A again to perform an action depending on the target selected.

Batman: Arkham Knight не единственная, чей релиз на одной из платформ получился где-то за гранью добра и зла. Виновницей этой новости стала MMO Final Fantasy 14, которая 23 июня вышла на компьютерах Mac. И вышла, надо сказать, в скверном состоянии.

Мало того что пользователи продукции Apple ждали игру почти год (на Windows перезапуск A Realm Reborn появился в августе 2014-го), так еще и с технической реализацией все плохо. Геймеры жалуются на баги, а общая производительность на «Макинтошах» существенно хуже, чем на аналогичных системах с ОС от Microsoft.

Издатель Square Enix, само собой, в курсе печального положения дел. Представитель компании и продюсер Final Fantasy 14 Наоки Йошида (Naoki Yoshida) рассказал, что ситуация ухудшилась еще сильнее из-за неверных минимальных требований, которые опубликовали авторы. Такая путаница возникла из-за суматохи с сопутствующим релизом мультиплатформенного дополнения Heavensward. Продюсер целиком и полностью взял вину на себя: это, мол, именно он решил выпустить версию для «Маков», невзирая на обстоятельства.

Йошида даже поведал, почему с компьютерами Apple все вышло так нехорошо. Игры на Mac, по его словам, покупаются не очень-то активно, поэтому в целях экономии пришлось пойти простым путем — вместо полноценного портирования студия использовала инструмент, который конвертирует API DirectX в OpenGL. Результат, к сожалению, «ест» больше ресурсов, чем на Windows, но информировать об этом геймеров компания вовремя не смогла.

До тех пор, пока Square Enix не определится с актуальными системными требованиями Final Fantasy 14 для Mac, было решено изъять игру из продажи, а пострадавшим обещают вернуть деньги по первому требованию.
