How to clear the Firefox cache

The Firefox cache temporarily stores images, scripts, and other parts of websites you visit in order to speed up your browsing experience. This article describes how to clear the cache.

Clear the cache

In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click Firefox and select Preferences . Click the menu button and select Options Preferences . Click the menu button and select Settings .

Select the Privacy & Security panel.

In the Cookies and Site Data section, click Clear Data… .

Remove the check mark in front of Cookies and Site Data.

• For more information about managing site data, see Manage local site storage settings.

With Cached Web Content check marked, click the Clear button.

Close the about:preferences page. Any changes you’ve made will automatically be saved.

Automatically clear the cache

You can set Firefox to automatically clear the cache when Firefox closes:

In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click Firefox and select Preferences . Click the menu button and select Options Preferences . Click the menu button and select Settings .

Select the Privacy & Security panel and go to the History section.

In the drop-down menu next to Firefox will, choose Use custom settings for history .

Select the check box for Clear history when Firefox closes.

Beside Clear history when Firefox closes, click the Settings… button. The Settings for Clearing History window will open.

In the Settings for Clearing History window, put a check mark next to Cache.

Click OK to close the Settings for Clearing History window.

Close the about:preferences page. Any changes you’ve made will automatically be saved.

Firefox clear cache linux

I’m trying to delete cache in Fireforx 69.0.1 running Windows 10. So, I go to privacy settings, clear date, and clear web content. When I clear, Cookies and Site Data is cleared. But Cached Web Content (1.5 MB) persists. I can’t clear the cache.

My 3 other computers with FF and Win10 all clear cache to «0».

Close Firefox. Open your file browser to the above, and remove the folder.

Thanks. will this delete my passwords, bookmarks, etc? Is there some setting I can change to allow the cache to go to «0» from the apparent minimum of 1.5MB?

Tried that, not working. Still find 27 kb residual data retained in cache. I am getting sorely fed up with this.

How do i clear my cache on firefox [duplicate]

I am trying to write and I have no idea how to I am a beginner and I’m not advanced THANK YOU. I tried using the terminal and entering the codes people suggested!

Are you sure you are asking about cache or cookies

To clear cache :

Go to preferences >> Advanced >> Network >> Cached webcontent

there click on clear now

To clear cookies:

Go to preferences >> Privacy,

there you can clear cookies

Just use Firefox itself. Click on the little three line menu button, click on preferences, and click on the privacy link that is on the left. Once you’re there you can click on the option to delete all of your cache, some of you cache, cache from a certain time frame, etc. While you’re there you can adjust the history settings if that is something you’d like to add as well.
