Nothing dresses up a window or balcony like flower boxes. Check out these 40 stunning flower and balcony flower box arrangements.
I developed a keen interest in the flower boxes last summer when we moved to a new home that had flower boxes already installed below many windows in the front and the back of the home.
Upon moving in there were no flowers in there, however, with the help of my mother-in-law, we were able to quickly and inexpensively create a series of gorgeous flower boxes in the front and the rear of our home.
You don’t need a great deal of space to create gorgeous gardens. Take a look below in her gallery of window flower boxes and balcony flower boxes for proof of this. In fact with less available space for gardening, you can put all your effort into creating a truly magnificent garden.
While there are many types of flowers that work well in flower boxes, some of the more popular types of flowers include chrysanthemums, marigolds, azaleas, geraniums, inpatients, petunias, primroses, morning glory, chamomile, peonies, lavender, and foxgloves.

While flower boxes are very popular in Europe where most people have much less gardening space than people in North America, flower boxes on windows, patios, decks and in other locations inside and outside are becoming more popular. In fact flower boxes is a form of container gardening, which is very popular in North America.
While there are an unlimited combinations of flowers and arrangements that you can use to create flower boxes, one of my favourite techniques is to use to her three colours only, one of them being white to create a study contrasts in the flower box.
