How to Create A Games For Windows Live(GFWL) Profile Offline – Use it to Save Your Game’s Progress on GTA IV, Vitua Tennis 4, Crashtime e.t.c)

This article is absolutely for developmental and educational! purposes only. Also, it was tested to work only on certain versions of windows like WindowsXP, Vista,Win7 and 8. It was a discovery I made as a result of the frustration due to the very slow internet connection I was having. Yes, it may sound weird, but the truth is that after paying a huge sum of money to ISPs for internet services, you end up getting poor speed and unstable connection. As a result of this, playing online pc games, as become a luxury for me. To make matters worse, most modern games now require you to first create and sign in to your Games for windows live account before you able to save your games progress. I bring you good news, there is a trick you can use to create a games-for-windows-live account offline. I mean without an internet connection.

Why you Need a Games for Windows Live Profile for Some Games

With certain game titles, you certainly need GFWL profile. Unfortunately for me, three of my favourite games fall in this lists of games that needs GFWL to save their progress. In my case, I was having GTA IV, Virtua Tennis 4 and Crashtime Syndicate the list goes on but the process is the same.

In the course of this article, I will show you, with the help of images, how you can play and save all your game progress on any pc game that prompt you to first sign in to Games for windows live(GFWL) Before you can save game progress. Like I said earlier you will be able to play the game quite alright, but you will not be able to save game progress unless you are logged in to games for windows live profile.

We all know how frustrating it can be to play a game and not being able to save your scores/results/progress. I Tested this on GTA IV, Virtua Tennis 4 and Crashtime. Am very confident that it will work for any game that is dependent on GFWL.

Steps to Create a Games for windows live Account Offline in Order to Save Your Game Progress

I will be using Virtua tennis 4 as my example.

• First off, select the game as shown in the picture above
• Now, while trying to continue playing the game, a warning will pop up telling you that you will lose all your games progresses if you don’t sign in to live account.
• Answer in the affirmative and proceed. That is select yes.

• Now, make sure you choose “create a new profile” even if you already have a Microsoft account. Please don’t choose login with existing account because this will require an internet connection

• Next, you will see a box which will prompt you to fill in your desired user name as you can see below. Do this and click on submit
• Next is the signing in process which only takes a couple of minutes.

• That is all! a local profile that requires no internet connection will be created for you. This account profile will enable you to save your games progress.

However anytime you want to play this games, and an internet connection is detected, windows live account will always pop up and ask you to sign in with your email account(this will change nothing) if you are willing to sign in, then fill in the required information otherwise press the Esc button on your remote, and continue with your game.

Details

GFWL can work on Windows 10, however it may take a bit of additional work to get it working fully.

Purchased from Steam:

Steam is a wonderful platform — you buy the game, install it and it should just work. Well with GFWL that’s not always the case. The reason is that Steam is required to redistribute the exact version of GFWL that came with the game. This means that you’re getting older versions when you install from Steam.

To fix this you need to install the latest version of GFWL. You can see instructions under the Windows 10 header.

GFWL Achievements on Steam:

If you’re worried about achievements for GFWL there is still a way to get them.

Some games on Steam (Ms. Splosion for example) allow you to install the Steamworks version or the GFWL version. Other games (Batman Arkham series, Toy Soldiers, and many more) have patched GFWL out completely. You won’t be able to get the achievements for these games anymore.

These games may aiuto-update to non-GFWL versions, however there is a way you can prevent this:

1. Select the game from the Steam list of games.
2. Right click, and go to properties
3. Click the Updates tab
4. Under automatic updates select «Only update this game when I launch it»

This will prevent the game from getting updates automatically, however you’d still need to update it when you try to play it. You can get around this by setting Steam to offline mode when you launch the game.

Windows 10:

Getting GFWL to work on Windows 10 take a bit of extra work. This can be fixed pretty easily by:

1. Removing GFWL, the Marketplace, etc. from your PC
2. Reboot
3. Download the latest version of GFWL from http://www.xbox.com/en-CA/Live/PC/DownloadClient
4. Install it
5. Reboot

Now with GFWL this doesn’t have a 100% success rate. However you can try the exact same steps and it’ll work the second or third time you do it. Pretty annoying, but at least you get to play your game.

DLC:

Any DLC that you have purchased in the past will still be accessible and you can download it. However you cannot purchase anything new. There are a few ways around this. For example Dirt 3 has a physical copy that includes codes for all the DLC.

If you have a DLC code it should still work, you just need to enter it via the GFWL client.

GFWL Log File Locations:

The log files for the GFWL client may provide some insight into what’s breaking with GFWL. These files are located here:

You can access/view these by:

1. Press the Windows Key + R
2. Type in: C:\Users
3. Press enter
4. Find your user name.
5. Navigate to AppData -> Local -> Microsoft -> GFWLive -> Logs
6. Right click on the log file and choose Open With
7. Select Notepad (or another text editor)

The default Windows Notepad program will let you see the contents, however due to the nature of the log files they may be hard to read. I personally use a program called Notepad ++ ( https://notepad-plus-plus.org/ ) which makes the log files a bit easier to parse. Right now I have one line in my log file that is 48849 characters which turns out to be 14 pages.

What to look for in the log files:

This is hard to say without knowing a specific problem, however searching for the word «error» may help. As I mentioned above, some of the log lines may be quite long, and you’ll have to use your judgement on if they provide any information that’s of use.

Games for Windows Live Release Date Activation:

Sometimes when you install a game that uses Games for Windows Live it’ll ask you to verify the release date of the game online. When you click the accept/next button it gives you an error that you’re not connected to the internet.

Thankfully there may be a very simple fix for you. Change the date on your computer to be in the same month/year that the game was released. For example, Batman Arkham City was released on October 18, 2011. Changing your system clock to October 30, 2011 and then trying the activation will work.

Доступ к Games for Windows LIVE возможен лишь тогда, когда вы играете в совместимую игру (т.е. только в игре с логом LIVE и только в тот момент когда она запущена).

1. Для регистрации в LIVE пройдите по этой ссылке — http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/memberships/gamesforwindows.htm
2. Кликните на надпись «Sign up for a new account»
3. На появившейся страничке будет два окна, Вам нужно правое с заголовком «Need an account? Sign up here» и с пустой строчкой над которой написано «E-mail Address»
4. В нее вводите ваш работающий e-mail и нажимаете справа кнопку «Sing-Up»
5. Далее вам нужно заполнить анкету:

• Дата вашего дня рождения в порядке ММ/ДД/ГГ (если вам нет 18, введите дату к примеру 02/17/1990)
• Страна в которой вы живете (хочу напомнить, что выбрав Россию вы не сможете играть). Выберите к примеру United Kingdom.
• Ваш email (по умолчанию он автоматически должен уже стоять)
• Вводите ваш пароль
• Вводите его еще раз
• Ваш секретный вопрос на случай утери пароля
• Ответ на ваш секретный вопрос
• Справа от вопроса заполните символы которые на картинке
• Введите ваш ник (латиницей) который будет использоваться в онлайн играх, справа есть кнопочка которая проверяет правильность ника.
• Выбераете ваш аватар
• В игровой зоне выберите, что Вам ближе (позже можно поменять)
• И в самом низу кликаете на I Accept/Я принимаю

6. После этого Вы попадете на страницу с надписью «Вас приветствует служба Games for Windows – LIVE» и «Ваш профиль создан.»
7. Жмете кнопку «Готово». Все. Вы в LIVE

Если Вы не сильны в английском, то после https://live.xbox.com . в адресной строке браузера меняете en-GB на ru-RU, ставите курсор мышкой в конец строки (чтобы не было выделений) и нажимаете Enter. вуаля, все на русском. Только не заполняйте анкету на русском, эта фишка для того чтобы понять что там написано. Если вы заполните ее на русском, то вы не сможете выбрать страну, она автоматически будет Россией.

Внимание. На данном этапе при попытке войти по старому аккаунту, вы попадаете на страницу Сведения об оплате. Эту страницу нельзя пройти! Она постоянно сбрасывается на начало.
Это справедливо только для аккаунтов, которые регистрировались до 19 ноября 2008-го года и указали страну — Россия.
Все кто зарегистрировался после 19 ноября, такой проблемы не испытывают (хотя если Вы попытаетесь поменять в конт. данных свой индекс, то всплывет ошибка «Введите действительный почтовый индекс.» Она пока ни на что не влияет.
Для тех кто не верит в Русское счастье от Мелкософт и зарегистрировались от другой страны, могут спать спокойно, у них все гуд.

Q: LIVE — это платно?
A: Для PC это бесплатно.

Q: А надо ли иметь ключ для игры FUEL по интернету?
A: Да, надо. Будет лежать в коробке лицензионного диска

Q: При попытке подключения своего Gamertag в игре у меня запрашивает ввести мой ID LIVE, немогу понять что от меня требуеться?
A: Вам нужно ввести ваш електронный адрес который вы зарегестрировали в GFWL.

Q: Я немогу написать свой адрес, раскладка на моей клавиатуре русская и не меняеться.
A: Выйдите из игры и правой кнопкой мыши кликните внизу справа на языковую панель. Зайдите в параметры и поставьте английский язык по умолчанию.

Как на пиратке в кооперативе играть?) Купить Xbox 360.

У меня проблема у меня лицензия игры ,но при регистрации в x-box live у мя выдает ошибку что ваш регион не доступен PS в GTA 4 у мя была такая же проблема что с этим делать подскажите .

Купил лицензию и установил! Код который внутри коробочки не установить даже непредлагают им воспользоваться! Создал акаунт не автономный , там зарегился и когда просят ввести ID live я ввожу его Адрес электиронной почты и пароль на что мне пишут ВЫ отключены от системы проверьте параметры или возможно вы используете ID другого региона который не поддерживаеться службой! что делать вить лицензия мать её!
