Games missing from windows

Did fresh install of system, steam client & new steam folder. Game files were missing, that was to be expected. Unfortunately my games library was reduced by 50%. All games were listed in my account profile but not in the library. Rised the ticket with steam support and got very quick answer.

Hello,
Please complete the steps below to refresh your configuration files for Steam:
Exit Steam.
Please open Internet Explorer, Safari or Firefox and type steam://flushconfig then press Enter. (If asked to allow this website to open a program, please click ‘Allow’ or ‘OK’)
When prompted by Steam to reset your configuration, please click ‘OK’ to confirm.
Once done, login to Steam and re-test the issue.

I hope it will help someone to save some nerves and time in the future.

5 games were missing from my library, i’ve tried everything (reset, steam repair. ) before reading your tip. It works for me.

Thank you very much.

This should help restore your library.

Please complete the steps below to refresh your configuration files for Steam:

Please open Internet Explorer, Safari or Firefox and type steam://flushconfig then press Enter. (If asked to allow this website to open a program, please click ‘Allow’ or ‘OK’)

When prompted by Steam to reset your configuration, please click ‘OK’ to confirm.

Once done, login to Steam and re-test the issue.

If you have multiple installation folders for games doing this process will remove them. You will need to add the folders again in Steam so that your games will appear as installed.

In order to add the folders please do the following:

1. Open Steam
2. Click Steam > Settings (Preferences on Mac)
3. Navigate to the ‘Downloads’ tab
4. Click the ‘Steam Library Folders’ button
5. Click on ‘Add Library Folder’ and add the directory that contains your games
6. Click ‘OK’
7. Restart Steam

Game Mode missing in Windows 10

Game Mode is a feature available to all users of Windows 10 that focuses system resources on games when enabled. In this post, we will give an explanation as to why this feature might be missing or not be available for some users – and then provide the necessary actions to take to restore this option.

Game Mode is intended to make Windows 10 the best operating system for gamers – enabling a seamless gameplay experience across all types of computers and devices. This feature essentially prevents system background activities such as Windows updates or notifications from apps during gameplay in a bid to offer a more consistent gaming experience.

Windows 10 Game Mode toggle is missing

It’s imperative to point out that the users most likely to encounter the missing Game Mode issue are users running the N/KN editions of Windows 10.

Labeled “N” for Europe and “KN” for Korea – includes all the base features of the operating system – but without Windows Media Player and related technologies pre-installed. For the Windows 10 editions, this includes Windows Media Player, Music, Video, Voice Recorder and Skype.

To find out if you’re running the N/KN edition of Windows 10, do the following:

  • Press Windows key + R.
  • In the Run dialog box, type winver hit Enter.

You’ll get a display with the information.

Consequently, if you’re running an N/KN edition of Windows 10 – to fix this issue, all you need do is to download and install the Media Feature Pack.

Once the update package is done installing the Media Feature Pack, reboot your PC. When your computer boots up, your computer will have Game Mode. The quickest way to verify is to press Windows key + I to launch the Settings app – make sure that one of the options available in the window is Gaming.

Furthermore, in a seemingly related issue, whereby the Game Mode option is available but the On/Off toggle button is missing or grayed out.

This issue can be encountered by any Windows 10 user regardless if running the N/KN editions or not. In which case, you’ll need to carry out a registry tweak to fix this issue. Here’s how:

Now, navigate to the following location in the registry:

Here, look for a key called AllowAutoGameMode. If it’s not there, create it by right-clicking inside the right panel and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Double-click this newly created key to edit its properties.

Now, set the value accordingly as to what you want and click OK:

  • Value of 0 = Off
  • Value of 1 = On

Restart your PC.

If you are running the regular version of Windows 10, you can try upgrading to the latest version/build of Windows 10 to see if that helps or you can perform an in-place repair upgrade.

Missing Microsoft games after upgrading to Windows 10

After upgrading to Windows 10, all the Microsoft games Solitaire, Spider Solitaire, Freecell, Hearts, Chess, Mahjong, etc are missing. I find the files under program files, but they will not open to play. I tried going to Programs and Features to Turn Windows Features on and Off, and the games are NOT listed. What has changed with this new update? and how can I get the games back to play — with history on wins?

If you have upgraded from Windows 7, I would like to inform you that you will have to install all these games from Windows Store. Search for the games in Windows Store and install these games.

Hi, What is «Windows Store» please? and where do we find it? Why is Microsoft so clueless about these things? They destroyed the Internet Reversi game some years ago for no good reason with Windows 7 !!

WHY does Microsoft always have to pull these stupid stunts — like making a new version of Freecell that looks TERRIBLE? The cards have an absurd shape and the game doesn’t play properly. All the options are gone. It is an awful piece of shirt. AND they still haven;t reinstated INTERNET REVERSI.

It was one of their most successful pieces of software and they just DUMPED It with WINDOWS 7 onward. Despite thousands of requests form users to get it back the twits refuse to make the effort. Clueless, totally clueless.

Thanks for the info, however, I have tried several of the games from the «Store» and they are NOT the same as the ones we had before. I still want the others back, wish Microsoft would provide a way to reinstall them easily. There are several answers in the community, but you pretty much have to be really knowledgeable with computers to follow the instructions. I had no luck. Still sad.

I had my older pc change to Windows 10 and my new PC stayed with windows 7, So now I copied the whole w7 games directory onto a memory stick and then copied into a blank games folder on w10. All the games disappeared on the stick & the W10 games dir. But when I returned the stick to the new w7 pc they were playable again!

I tried to change features of the W10 games folder to try copying again but games dir did not appear in the «features listing».

It looks like Windows do not like my grandchildren playing games on my PC!

The older grandchildren can type and use mouse and keyboard better than their peers. The younger ones can use my older pc as I will NOT change to windows 10.

Windows store does NOT give us the same as w7? I refuse to play in a cloud — whatever that is.

Please try these options one by one and check after each option.

1. Open MS Store > Click on your profile picture on top right and sign-out. Then sign-in again.

2. Windows Key+R > Type services.msc and press Enter > Locate Background Intelligence transfer and ensure it is set to Start and Automatic. Also do the same for Windows Update service as well

3. Run Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter
Windows Key+X > Click Settings > Click Update & security > Click Troubleshoot > Scroll down to the bottom > Click Windows Store Apps > Click Run the Troubleshooter

4. Reset Windows Store through Command Prompt
Type cmd in Windows Search box > Right click on Command Prompt > Run As Administrator > Type WSreset.exe and click Enter > Reboot your computer

5. Re-register All Store apps
Right click on Windows Start > Right click on Windows Powershell (Admin) > Copy the following from below and right click in Powershell to paste > Enter > Restart your computer

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach

6. Uninstall & Reinstall Store
Right click on Windows Start > Right click on Windows Powershell (Admin) > Copy the following from below and right click in Powershell to paste > Enter

Get-AppxPackage -allusers *WindowsStore* | Remove-AppxPackage

Copy the following from below and right click in Powershell to paste > Enter > Reboot your computer

Get-AppxPackage -allusers *WindowsStore* | Foreach
