Windows 10 — German Keyboard/English Language

I am using Window 10 with the English language on a 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor — Intel(R) Core(TM i5-3330 CPU @ 3.00GHz 3.00 GHz PC which I have bought in Germany as I reside here. Each time I boot the detected language is English. There is an icon on the lower right task bar which I can choose the German Keyboard.

My question: Is it possible for me to use the English language with Windows 10 but have the keyboard be recognized by Windows as a German Keyboard and not have to choose the keyboard language each time I boot?

Thank you very much Mr. Rathod!

After adding I did need to delete the English keyboard, which I don’t have, and was wondering if when rebooting my Word program would have automatically gone to German, which gratefully it didn’t.

I really love this community.

I had same problem and definitely this is a bug because each time that you re-login or restart the computer configuration is missing.

I found a workaround to fix this and consist on add same keyboard layout for each language. In my case, that I have polish keyboard, solution was:

1. Click on language (Bottom right) and click Language preferences

2. Region & Language > Languages

3. Default language in my case is English, click and select options.

4. Here the trick, you cannot remove if there are only 1 keyboard layout, so add a new one (the one that you really want) and delete the previous one.

4. Do the same to your another language.

With this solution your are going to have 2 keyboards with the same layout and problem fixed 🙂

Tech giants Google, Microsoft and Facebook are all applying the lessons of machine learning to translation, but a small company called DeepL has outdone them all and raised the bar for the field.
Its translation tool is just as quick as the outsized competition, but more accurate and nuanced than any weвЂ™ve tried.

Even though the translations from English by Google and Microsoft are quite good, DeepL still surpasses them. We have translated a report from a French daily newspaper — the DeepL result was perfect.

Hi.. I would like to change the language of my Windows XP from German to English. Is it possible/legal to format my system and borrow an English Windows XP and and install and enter the licence key that came with the German version?

Never borrow another’s CD. It is called soft lifting and illegal.

How can I change the language of Windows 7 to English?

I have a German edition of Windows 7 and want to change its language to English.

Does anyone know how to do this?

P.s. I have a home version of windows (not professional or ultimate) 🙂

P.s.s. I can’t manage to get any lb.cab file, can any1 also provide a link to that?

You must have Ultimate or Enterprise edition to go from German to English, otherwise you must buy an English version of Windows 7 and re-install the Operating System.

Start -> All Programs —> Windows Update —> Optional Updates.
Open optional Updates and go to the section Windows 7 Language Packs.
Tick the Language Pack you want and hit OK
Proceed with Install Updates

Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Clock, Language, and Region / Change the display language
Switch the display language in the Choose a display language dropdown menu.
Click OK
Log off for the changes to take effect (This will affect only the user profile under which you are currently logged on).

I had the same problem and I followed what is here:

you will have to get the appropriate “lp.cab”, i.e. from the Language Pack DVD. Then, type this in a command prompt as Administrator (change path and language code appropriately):

dism /online /add-package /packagepath:D:\langpacks\en-us\lp.cab

bcdedit /set locale en-US

bcdboot %WinDir% /l en-US

After that, remove the registry folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\MUI\UILanguages\de-DE.

If you get this error: An error occured trying to open d:\en-us\langpacks\lp.cab Error:0×80070003. The System cannot find the path specified

copy the lp.cab to C:\ (the root directory) and run dism from there.

The command line shell must be run as Administrator.

I changed the display language of a Windows in Korean (Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 x32 «K») to English using Vistalizator (mirror) (free, straightforward to use, the website contains required Microsoft updates as well as language packs):

Try Vistalizator — this tool allows you to change display language in Windows editions other than (officially supported) Ultimate, like Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium and Business/Professional.

Vistalizator overrides the limit of one MUI language on non-Ultimate Windows editions.

I know this question is for windows 7, but it’s one of the top hits on google. On Windows 10 this can be done on all variants (I just tested this on the pro version, but have read it should work on the Home edition too). The following works to change the language of one user, and I’m not sure how to do it for the whole OS (so even the login screen is in another language)

Press Win + i
Select Time and Language
Go in Region & Language
Add the language of your choice
Click on new language and an Options button appears
Click on the button to download the Language Pack
Go back to the previous screen (where you can see all the installed languages)
Click on the new language again and click on Set as default

The next time you log in, windows will be in the new language!

Language packs for Windows

Use the Add a language feature to download and install another language for Windows 10 so you can view menus, dialog boxes, and supported apps and websites in that language. To do this:

Select the Start button, and then select Settings > Time & Language > Language.

Under Preferred languages, select Add a language.

Under Choose a language to install, select or type the name of the language that you want to download and install, and then select Next.

Under Install language features, select the features that you want to use in the language that you selected to download, and then select Install.

To use Microsoft Office in your preferred language, download an Office language pack.

You can download and install any of the following languages in Windows 10.

If you represent a government or government agency, a government-affiliated or government-sponsored cultural or language board or institution, or an accredited educational institution, you may redistribute the Pack to validly licensed users of the Software, in the same form as received from Microsoft.

The easiest way to get language packs for Windows 8.1 and Windows RT is to download and install them using the Language Control Panel.

Download and install additional languages to view menus, dialog boxes, and other user interface items in your preferred language.

If you want to share or redistribute a language pack, you’ll need to download it from the Download Center instead. Some language packs are sharable and some are not. Use the download links in the table below to download the language packs that can be shared.

Using Windows Update. If you’re running an Ultimate or Enterprise edition of Windows, you can download available language packs by using Windows Updates. Using the links on this page. You can download Language Interface Packs (LIPs) from the Microsoft Download Center by using the links below. You can install LIPs over any edition of Windows, but they provide a translated version of only the most widely used dialog boxes, menu items, and help content. To install a LIP, you will need to have the required parent language installed on your PC.
