WinXP installation hangs at «Setup is starting Windows. » after loading all mandatory drivers from CD.

My Pentium III 1.0 GHz computer (394MB RAM, 500GB hard drive) crapped out on me after I loaded Nikon’s PicturePerfect app. For some reason, the Nikon software screwed up my registry. Now, whenever I turn on my PC, I get the BSOD with the error «Page Fault in non-Page area». I cannot start my computer in SAFE mode or «Start Windows normally» as I will get the same error msg almost immediately without seeing the Windows logo & progress bar. I can start my PC using the «Last Known Good Configuration» and it will boot-up to the Microsoft Windows logo with the small progress bar at the bottom, so I know the hard drive is fine. Then the screen goes black while WinXP is loading something from the hard drive, and then the BSOD with the page fault error comes up. I suspect that there is bad data in a critical area of the drive where Windows needs the data to start-up properly. In the meantime, I cannot start Windows at all because all of the Windows options lead to BSOD with the page fault msg.

I’m resigned to re-loading WinXP from scratch, but I cannot seem to get my original install CD to work either. I re-configured my BIOS for CD-booting, then boot up the original WinXP CD. It reads and load everything fine, then it hangs at «Setup is starting Windows. » I thought it was testing the hardware, but it stayed in that state for 3 hours! The «Welcome to Windows Setup» screen never came up.

I was thinking about applying FDISK to the new 500GB drive, and formatting out the errors on the hard drive, but I cannot do that since I cannot terminate the Setup process. I feel stuck in a bad situation where I cannot get into DOS to FDISK and FORMAT my C: drive.

Как решить проблему зависания Windows 7 при установке

Причина зависания системы на логотипе – установка не через BIOS. Инсталляция через BIOS также называется «чистой», поскольку вы форматируете все данные на компьютере и соответственно удаляете информацию о предыдущей системе. Как установить ОС через БИОС?

Шаг 1. Вставляем загрузочный диск с системой (либо флешку) в компьютер. Включаем или перезагружаем ПК.

Шаг 2. При появлении первых надписей быстро жмем клавишу «Delete». Внешний вид вашего BIOS зависит от конкретного производителя.

Примечание! Оформление интерфейса не играет роли, поскольку на современных компьютерах основные настройки БИОС одинаковы.

Шаг 3. Если вы успели нажать «Delete» при загрузке компьютера, появляется окно BIOS.

Шаг 4. Перемещение по пунктам осуществляет при помощи стрелок на клавиатуре. Нажимаем стрелку «вправо» до тех пор, пока не откроется пункт «Boot».

Шаг 5. «Boot» отвечает за загрузку компьютера с определенного устройства. По умолчанию компьютер грузится с жесткого диска. Но сейчас нам нужно установить систему, которая находится на флешке (или компакт-диске). Жмем стрелку «вниз» и выбираем пункт «Boot Device Priority» — жмем «Enter».

Шаг 6. Открывается маленькое меню, где мы выберем устройство, с которого будет грузиться компьютер. В нашем примере это DVD-диск.

В вашем случае может быть название флешки или CD-носителя. Выбрали устройство – жмем «Enter».

Шаг 7. Выходим из вкладки «Boot» – клавиша Esc. Так изменения сохранятся и вступят в силу после перезагрузки. В выскочившем окошке выбираем «ОК» и жмём «Enter».

Компьютер автоматически перезагрузится. Проблема решена – система Windows начнет «чистую установку» без зависаний и вылетающих ошибок. Именно при помощи работы с BIOS решаются проблемы в духе «не устанавливается вин 7!! вис при начале установки».

Зависает компьютер при установке ОС Windows 7? Находим способ решения проблемы.

Первое, что требуется сделать – произвести поиск причин медленной установки Windows 7. Разберемся с частыми источниками неполадок:

CD/DVD-носитель неисправен (либо флешка). Карта памяти ломается редко, а вот неполадки с диском – дело обычное. В таком случае нужно перезаписать образ операционной системы на новую болванку;

Примечание! Проблема схожего характера – ошибка при записи образа системы на диск. Когда диск исправен, но сам образ оказывается «битым» или неполным, где отсутствуют важные системные файлы. Поможет замена дистрибутива Windows 7. Скачайте его из другого источника и попробуйте снова.

Далее мы рассмотрим алгоритм исправления настроек прошивки.

Как решить проблему медленной установки Windows 7

Для успешной установки требуется исправить два решающих параметра:

1. Serial ATA (SATA) Mode — переключаем на «AHCI». Это более современный тип передачи данных. Поможет не только в решении проблемы с установкой, но и в целом ускорит работу ОС.
2. Вырубить дискетный привод («Floppy Drive»). Несмотря на то, что дискеты – прошлый век и у вас может даже не быть этого устройства, рекомендуем отключить его использование в BIOS.

Отключаем дискетник

Шаг 1. Открываем BIOS, жмем клавишу «Delete».

Шаг 2. Переходим во вкладку «Advanced».

Шаг 3. Выбираем пункт «OnBoard Floppy Controller» и жмем кнопку «+». Напротив строки должна отобразиться надпись «Disabled» (отключено).

Шаг 4. Сохраняем настройки.

Меняем режим на «AHCI»

1. Заходим в BIOS, жмем клавишу «Delete».
2. Открываем «Advanced».

Stuck at Setup is Starting

I currently have a system with Vista Ultimate 64bit. All latest updates. I have a 2TB C: Hybrid Drive. 8gb ddr3 1600 rram. AMD 83** 4ghz October core cpu. Sabertooth 990fx r2.0 MB.

I am attempting a clean install of windows 10 pro 64bit.

Micrometer sold me the disk as an OEM, and tells me it will not be tied to my MBA permanently. (I don’t think that is true.)

I put the disk into my drive, and restart my computer.

I load from disk.

First menu, choose language.

Second menu, do I want to install now or repair?

I choose install now.

Third screen, «Setup is starting. «

It’s will sit there until I decide to restart. It does nothing till I do. It has sat there for more than 3 hours.

I have tried also installing with all extra peripherals disconnected.

I have exchanged the disk thinking I got the one in a million faulty disk.

It has been postulated to me by MicroCenter that a new disk, or even retail version on USB will give the same issue. They said the Hard drive needs to be cleared first. I told them that I never needed to do so before with any clean install.

Do I need to erase my HDD to install Windows 10?

Should I get the retail version because it is my understanding that if I install oem, and decide to change my motherboard I will be forced to by another copy of windows?

Am I doing anything wrong with the clean install?

Nothing is wrong with Windows 10 OEM licenses per se, but the vendor is incorrect, it does have licensing limitations.

OEM versions of Windows 10 are identical to Full License Retail versions except for the following:

— OEM versions do not offer any free Microsoft direct support from Microsoft support personnel

— OEM licenses are tied to the very first computer you install and activate it on

— OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

— OEM versions cannot be used to directly upgrade from an older Windows operating system

Its possible the install files are corrupt.

Please note, since you are running Windows Vista, you will have to perform a custom install, which is basically a clean install.

You could download a fresh copy and then perform a custom install with it. Just download the edition you have a license for, learn how:

That is just the thing, I have exchanged the disk for a new one. What is the chance that both disks are doing the same thing?

They (the Vendor) had suggested that I format my C drive to erase it before attempting to install, but why would that matter?

Also, I am not getting a custom install option from the Disk. Just install now or repair.

I’m currently at work, and unable to try anything till I get back home.

I’ll make DVD from the ISO from Microsoft, and see if that will work.

The only other options I can think of is the try booting with a blank HDD, or attempt to try a retail copy instead of a system builder copy.

PS: This is exactly where I get stuck. Looked at your Custom install link at the screenshots.

It will sit here however long I decide. 3 hours is the most time I had let it sit.

Steps I prepared this time around.

I have my boot drive, and my program drive as my only drives.

I reduced the boot drive and made a new blank drive on it.

I have 24gb Of ram now because I was going to add it anyways. Motherboard has no issue with the ram.

I have re-downloaded a new copy of Windows 10 Pro 64bit from Microsoft, and burned the ISO To DVD again at slowest speed.

I am now attempting to install Windows 10 from the burned ISO.

Result: Failure, does not get to choose language screen. Stuck at solid indigo screen.

I attempt to use my OEM Disk I bought again. This is a different disk as I had exchanged it.

Results: Same as my first several tries with the OEM Disk. I get to the solid indigo screen with the words «Setup is starting» and nothing happens. Not on the screen, nor does my tower show any activity.

What is my next task?

That’s a lot of RAM. I’d try removing all but one known-good stick to compare fails.

The most common fix for installation failures is wiping the disk of all code with minimum Diskpart Clean Command from Command Line, reached by Shift + F10 at the first screen or Repair Your Computer on second screen. More thorough wipes are not necessary because the therapeutic value here is clearing the boot sector and partition table which is covered by Clean command.

Remove all other hard drives and peripherals.

Reset the BIOS to defaults. Confirm SATA controller is set to AHCI then save and Exit.

I doubt it’s UEFI BIOS since you’ve got Vista, but if so the media must be booted as a UEFI device.

Report back results after trying those steps.

UEFI boot is enabled and UEFI DVD is set first to boot so that should cover it since I don’t see any other related settings in the pictures.

Did you just change those now, or was Vista installed to UEFI as well?

Is there a newer BIOS firmware update?

At the time my MB did not support UEFI, so my Vista was not installed as such. Had changed MB since Vista was first installed.

The settings you see are what I had done already. I did not change the setup.

Here is the update.

Having run out of options, I bought a SSD, connected it to my computer, and disconnected the SSHD that has the Vista installation.

Using the store bought disk, I was able to have the installation of Windows 10 start and finish with no trouble at all.

What I found out.

There is something about the SSHD that has my Vista installation installed that Windows 10 hates. Even when Windows 10 in set to be the boot disk, it will not launch if the Vista disk is connected. Likewise, sticking the Vista disk in an external case to connect via USB, Windows 10 will not only not load the drive, but will actually lockup. Leaving me unable to format the SSHD on my desktop now.

My workaround thus far is to connect the same External Vista SSHD drive to a Windows 7 system we have in the house. Windows 7 will read the disk, and is allowing me to format it. I am hoping that once the disk is clean that Windows 10 will read it.

Did this issue start because of Vista in itself, or did it start because that vista installation was not UEFI?
