Google представила новую версию программного инструмента App Runtime for Chrome, с помощью которого можно запускать Android-приложения. Решение, доступное на компьютерах с OS X, Windows и Linux, получило название ARC Welder.

ARC Welder позиционируется как решение для разработчиков, однако никто не мешает воспользоваться им всем желающим. По замыслу Google, создатели Android-приложений могут использовать данную функцию, чтобы тестировать свои разработки. Однако ARC Welder может пригодиться и обычным пользователям – запускать Android-приложения могут все пользователи браузера Chrome.

Ранее ARC был доступен только небольшому количеству девелоперов. Теперь же программу могут скачать все желающие. Она включает в себя доступ к Google Play Services, который необходим для правильной работы приложений, использующих Oauth2, Google Cloud Messaging и вход в Google+.

Чтобы воспользоваться технологией, нужно загрузить бесплатное расширение из магазина Chrome. Запустив его, вы увидите диалоговое меню и большую кнопку «плюс», под которой будет написано «добавьте ваш APK». После выбора приложения останется указать, в каком режиме будет отображаться интерфейс – портретном или ландшафтном. Теперь если нажать «Старт» мобильная программа откроется в новой вкладке браузера.

К сожалению, возможность совершать приобретения внутри Android-приложений пока не работает, из-за чего некоторые разработки могут работать нестабильно.
