Main character in The Great Wobo Escape is a robot named Wobo. He is alone, unarmed, and escaping for freedom.

His only chance is to use the environment to his favor, hide in shadows and crush dieselpunk enemy robots. Stealth approach may quickly turn into fast-paced escape combined with creating diversion, causing chaos and avoiding tricky hazards.

Guide Wobo through 8 different levels using stealth, solving puzzles, and using his surroundings to avoid detection by the evil dieselpunk robot guards. Mini-games that require wit and action sequences calling for timing & precision provide a mix of gameplay that will keep you on your toes.

A rich story in an absorbing sci-fi world exploring a thin line between a machine and a living intelligence, where colony’s AI went rogue and exploits other robots for its own goals. The underlying yet subtle question is — How much intelligence must a robot have to deserve freedom?

Wobo comes from a new generation of robots. Unexpectedly he is also self-aware, intelligent AI. Starting with simple maintenance tasks and passing all operational tests, he gains the trust of its Overseer. This allows him to enter autonomous mode and soon after he discovers the truth about how robots are gradually ruined in harsh environment of the mining colony.


Wobo is unarmed. If guards find him, they will try to shut him down.

Having the choice of facing the same fate or saving himself, and hopefully other robots as well, he runs. Part of intelligence is also morality which brings interesting twists and turns not only in Wobo’s story but also in fates of his friends.


An escape where lives are in stake won’t be easy. And it won’t be only about running, too. Action-filled parts of Wobo’s adventure come in many flavors – outrunning deadly enemies, being in pursuit by huge machinery or simply running through parts of levels full of traps and hazards. One bad step means instant death, any stumble may end as fall into the deeps.


Use imperfect sight and hearing of older models to your advantage.

Stealth approach is in the center of Wobo’s adventure, though. Usage of cover, moving silently, remaining unseen by patrolling guards and out of spotlights is often the key to continue. And when the surroundings are not in Wobo’s favor, he must create his way forward — turn off lights with a hidden power switch or move objects to create a safe passage.

The Great Wobo Escape is completely produced by our team — all models, textures, effects, animations, etc. are the result of our own work. This is also why we are confident to say that the game doesn’t look generic, rather quite the opposite.

The strict visual distinction between fragile but high-tech robots of the latest generations (like the main character Wobo and small auxiliary robots called Woblings) and their red colored dieselpunk wardens patrolling corridors also plays a big role. Take Wobo – an autonomous maintenance robot, whose white and shiny metal parts are in contrast to any ore mining, yet suitable for his role of smart, intelligent supervisor.

The style of robots, their equipment and underground mining station reminds the original animated covers of Perry Rhodan sci-fi books from 70s. Simple, mechanical and rough around edges. They are only capable to use brute force to stop or punish any unwanted behavior in the mine. Their crude metallic look reflects their simplified software and behavior – a weakness that can easily be exploited by a smart robot.


At the beginning, Wobo is just a simple maintenance unit. Until he learns about the colony’s secrets.

Thanks to the power of PC we are finally able to bring additional effects that deepen the game’s atmosphere and emphasize its visual style, e.g. Depth of field, Bloom, Antialiasing and realtime shadows (a standard feature for PC titles but something simply not possible on mobile devices). These come on top of Specular highlights and Color grading effects already present in Nvidia® version.

At the same time, we are making sure that the game will run smoothly on wide range of hardware configurations.

Approachable by young audience – no blood, just a comic mischief with a pinch of sabotage towards evil robots!

From the start, we have designed The Great Wobo Escape to be a game about a smart robot, not about a killing machine. So instead of shooting thousands of enemies he must confront environment and all its dangers. Player is rewarded by solving mini-games that require observation, a little bit of timing and planning moves. Moreover, we extend these principles outside of mini-games as well — especially into stealth sections. Areas with many robots are designed to be more easily overcome by using hideouts, stealth approach and patience, rather by a reckless run around.

On the other hand, Wobo’s intelligence is compensated by his fragility and direct confrontation is not recommended (and also fatal for Wobo).

The fun part of his escape is sabotaging and destroying the evil robots who get in his way. By applying force at the right time and in the right place, even these may become a pile of junk metal. Not counting the liters of oil the whole escape could be accomplished without leaking any fluids.

The Great Wobo Escape has been first published for NVIDIA® Shield console and Android devices, but tested, developed and intended as a PC game from the very first idea. Moreover, during the whole development, we have maintained the PC version as the primary version.

We would like to be fully open about it, although some people might seem the PC version of the game as a port of its mobile version. Rest assured this is not the case, nor it has ever been our intention.

Steam release will include support for mouse & keyboard, full controller support, high-resolution textures, additional graphic effects, and many advanced settings to tune every detail.

Hello friends and gamers,

I’ll start with a message that won’t make you happy. But I promise to continue the rest of the post with only lots of good news.

Unfortunately, the final polish and all those “small things” take us a bit longer than the previously estimated month. Among them are features that will impact the revenue from the game and we cannot just skip nor under deliver. For this reason we are forced to move the release date of Android version to the first half of September. iOS version will follow soon afterwards.

Regarding the positive things. During the last three weeks we made two huge updates into Google Play Store. You can check for yourself here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cc.gamifi.tgwe.ep1, if you are part of our Google+ testing community [plus.google.com] . You can play a version that is feature complete. In coming weeks we will provide regular updates that will cover some of “small things”, like:

  1. Audio & Sounds – there are still few objects that are completely mute or some with only temporary sounds assigned to them. Each sound greatly affects the atmosphere in the game, so we want to add a plenty of new sounds, including variations.
  2. Menus – new main menu (inspired by our official cover art) will provide more space for player’s results for each level and (finally!) will enable you to browse bonus content that you can unlock.
  3. Millions of small things – all those little improvements you only put into one paragraph. Still, here are a few examples: waypoints of enemies, timing of some puzzles, more transparent info about enemies, etc.

And here is what kept us busy during last month:

  1. Level L07 – Tricky Tunnels – the last level in Episode 1 introduces several novelties. To name a few: new environments and related new moves for Wobo (narrow tunnel shafts and using ladders both inside and outside of them), a new type of puzzle (use environment to create a safe path for Wobo), even more hidden bonuses, most challenging puzzles of the whole Episode 1. Naturally, you can choose from multiple paths that might or might not ultimately lead to Wobo’s freedom.
  2. Adjusted controls and puzzles – last month we did a lot of polish to touch controls. This is thanks to your feedback (special thanks to Lukáš!) that provided us a great range of opinions. What makes the controls more responsive? You now need shorter swipe to jump, swipe angles are wider and in low FPS the game recognizes a swipe much more accurately. A hint for impatient players – jump makes Wobo progress a bit faster J Some puzzles that involved jumping were tweaked consequently – steam vents, bridges, electric cables, etc. to keep the same level of challenge and fun.
  3. Fixing small bugs – thanks to the heavy testing of every major version and every new feature, there is no game-breaking or major bugs. Yet, there are those small imperfections that keep us busy constantly. More than a dozen have been fixed in each of the previous two updates.
  4. Soundtrack – you might have noticed that the playing track is different for each situation in the game – if Wobo is pursuit by enemies or when he is just hiding.

Wobo’s journey starts with figuring out the right path (leading towards the end of each level – to an exit) through platform-like levels. Not every walkway is solid enough to walk, not every elevator gets you closer to the safety. Large level can be a maze on their own — locate and switch the correct levers, discover secret passages, use elevators or assembly lines, turn on bridges, hack computer terminals, open the right doors… But most importantly don’t get lost a keep running, every minute counts and the fate of all robots depends on you!

Optionally, Wobo might find and save his small robot buddies — Woblings. Scattered or hidden throughout each level, waiting to be ‘hacked’ first in order to follow Wobo and be rescued. This side quest brings new thrilling approach to every level, creates additional challenges for more replayability and also increases overall score to unlock further bonuses. But most importantly, it allows you to follow a subtle moral sub-plot, a story twist altering the game’s ending.

Letting Wobo escape is just too risky for the H.A.R.M. corporation — the owner of the mining colony, all the robots and Wobo as well. They will try to stop him at all costs. As Wobo is unarmed, you have to choose to either face enemies by turning their own guns against them or to avoid and trick them. Robotic security guards, flying drones, mobile sentry gunners and many other evil robots will try to find and shut down Wobo. Can Wobo die? Not really, he will be just powered down, his internal memory will be erased and circuits will be recycled. Which is basically a death for a robot, right?

Make sure he will stay undetected by security cameras and turrets to avoid alarms. Rather use the environment to your advantage – blend in, stay hidden or outsmart enemies otherwise your escape will be quickly compromised. What is more, dangerous traps will make the route even more challenging.

Get Wobo in one piece over the landscape full of enemies and hazards, eliminate traps, clear obstacles and solve various puzzles to create a safe passage for him and his fellow robots. The greatest journey ever taken by mechanical beings can change the fate of all robots.

The game has levels* grouped into episodes. Each episode progresses the story of the mining robots, brings new enemies in various new locations and also some new abilities for Wobo. Primary objectives in each level are complemented by a set of secondary tasks to complete – save all Woblings, hack every computer console, avoid any alarms, etc. Completing those not only gives you a higher score for the level, it can also unlock some extras like character models in a showcase, high-res wallpapers, costumes/skins for Wobo or his enemies, etc.

Graphics is set in full 3D environment with 2D movements (known as 2.5D). The game will be released at first for Android and iOS smartphones & tablets, later for the PC/Mac as a HD re-edition (higher texture quality, larger levels, special effects not possible on mobile devices, additional bonuses and content, etc.).
