GUI интерфейс управления SQLite

Интересуясь что такое использование sqlite вышел на инструмент управления, что-то типа phpmyadmin, но работает не через Web— интерфейс, а как полноценная программа . Т.е. я смогу ее использовать со своего рабочего места Ubuntu Desktop 14.04.5 Gnome Classic.

Все действия выполняются на Ubuntu 14.04.5 Desktop Gnome Classic amd64 самого последнего состояния на момент написания данной заметки:

Добавляю репозитарий где содержится GUI утилита управления SQLite:

$ sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:linuxgndu/sqlitebrowser

$ sudo apt-get install sqlitebrowser -y

Часть 1.5: Менеджеры баз данных для SQLite: самые популярные графические оболочки для работы с базами данных SQLite

Привет, посетитель сайта ZametkiNaPolyah.ru! Продолжаем рубрику реляционные базы данных и ее раздел библиотека SQLite. Практически у любой современной СУБД есть графический менеджер баз данных. Менеджеры баз данных зачастую очень помогают разработчикам и ускоряют процесс разработки баз данных. Помимо командной оболочки (sqlite.exe), которую мы справедливо можем назвать менеджером баз данных SQLite, есть и другие менеджеры, которые позволяют работать с базами данных под управлением SQLite3. Их общий недостаток – все они от сторонних разработчиков. Преимущество: при использование графических менеджеров мы пишем меньше кода.

Давайте теперь рассмотрим, какие менеджеры баз данных упростят нам жизнь при работе с базами данных под управлением SQLite3.

Я предлагаю рассмотреть три менеджера баз данных для SQLite3:

1. SQLiteStudio – польский менеджер баз данных SQLite Имеет русский интерфейс (язык выбирается при первом запуске). Распространяется бесплатно, скачать SQLiteStudio можно с официального сайта разработчиков. Важно отменить, что менеджер баз данных SQLiteStudio является кроссплатформенным, на странице закачек вы сможете выбрать нужную вам версию. Этот менеджер баз данных устанавливается путем распаковки архива в любую папку на вашем компьютере.
2. SQLite Manager – плагин для Представляет собой простой и удобный менеджер баз данных SQLite3. Функционал менее богатый, чем у предыдущей программы, но и его зачастую бывает достаточно. Плагин кроссплатформенный работает на любой ОС, на которой есть Firefox. Скачать плагин можно с официальной страницы.
3. DBeaver – мощное и бесплатное средство для проектировщика баз данных. Поддерживает синтаксис многих СУБД, в том числе и SQLite Перечислять все возможности данного менеджера баз данных не имеет смысла, так как его нужно устанавливать и изучать. Замечу, что менеджер баз данных DBeaver написан на Java, а значит он кроссплатформенный и для его работы необходимо установить JRE. Скачать DBeaver можно с официального сайта.

На самом деле для библиотеки SQLite3 существует гораздо большее количество менеджеров: как бесплатных, так и платных, но могу сказать, что в 95 случаев из 100 удобнее всего пользоваться консолью.

Ubuntu 14.04.X, 15.04.X, 15.10.X and 16.04.X are supported for now (until Launchpad decides to discontinue building for any series).

Ubuntu Precise (12.04) and Utopic (14.10) are not supported:

• Precise does not have a new enough Qt package in its repository by default, which is a dependency
• Launchpad does not support Utopic any more, which has reached its End of Life

FreeBSD

DB Browser for SQLite works well on FreeBSD, and there is a port for it (thanks to lbartoletti 😄). DB4S can be installed using either this command:

What it is

DB Browser for SQLite (DB4S) is a high quality, visual, open source tool to create, design, and edit database files compatible with SQLite.

DB4S is for users and developers who want to create, search, and edit databases. DB4S uses a familiar spreadsheet-like interface, and complicated SQL commands do not have to be learned.

Controls and wizards are available for users to:

• Browse, edit, add, and delete records

What it is not

This program is not a visual shell for the sqlite command line tool, and does not require familiarity with SQL commands. It is a tool to be used by both developers and end users, and must remain as simple to use as possible in order to achieve these goals.

How To Download & Install SQLite Tools

To download SQLite, you open the download page of the SQlite official website.

SQLite provides various tools for working across platforms e.g., Windows, Linux, and Mac. You need to select an appropriate version to download.

For example, to work with SQLite on Windows, you download the command-line shell program as shown in the screenshot below.

The downloaded file is in the ZIP format and its size is quite small.

Run SQLite tools

Installing SQLite is simple and straightforward.

1. First, create a new folder e.g., C:\sqlite .
2. Second, extract the content of the file that you downloaded in the previous section to the C:\sqlite folder. You should see three programs in the C:\sqlite folder as shown below:

First, open the command line window:

and navigate to the C:\sqlite folder.

Second, type sqlite3 and press enter, you should see the following output:

Third, you can type the .help command from the sqlite> prompt to see all available commands in sqlite3.

Fourth, to quit the sqlite>, you use .quit command as follows:

The sqlite3 shell is excellent…

However, sometimes, you may want to work with the SQLite databases using an intuitive GUI tool.

There are many GUI tools for managing SQLite databases available ranging from freeware to commercial licenses.

SQLiteStudio

The SQLiteStudio tool is a free GUI tool for managing SQLite databases. It is free, portable, intuitive, and cross-platform. SQLite tool also provides some of the most important features to work with SQLite databases such as importing, exporting data in various formats including CSV, XML, and JSON.

You can download the SQLiteStudio installer or its portable version by visiting the download page. Then, you can extract (or install) the download file to a folder e.g., C:\sqlite\gui\ and launch it.

Besides the SQLite Studio, you can use the following free SQLite GUI tools:

• DBeaver is another free multi-platform database tool. It supports all popular major relational database systems MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, Sybase.. including SQLite.
• DB Browser for SQLite – is an open-source tool to manage database files compatible with SQLite.
