Create an attractive home with beautiful windows
Throughout the ages, architects and designers have elaborated on different window types, their functions, requirements and specifications. In his Ten Books of Architecture, Roman author and architect Vitruvius spoke in detail on this subject. Artists like Vincent van Gogh and Pablo Picasso used their brushes as well as words to pay tribute to the beauty of windows.
But perhaps the greatest homage ever paid to the windows did not spring from any architects’ pen or artists’ brush. Instead it is found in the words of poet Rumi. “At night, I open the window and ask the moon to come and press its face against mine. Breathe into me. Close the language – door and open the love – window. The moon won’t use the door, only the window.”
Overwhelmed by their functional aspects, we may often ignore their aesthetic presence. But windows have a great capacity of augmenting the beauty of a building as well as its interior. Today’s post is about various window types that your home can have. Follow it closely to decide if you have the right windows for your home.
Bay and bow windows
Квартира в г.Калининграде
Bay and bow windows are major architectural features. They help to create a more expansive interior. But if bay or bow windows are intended for any particular room, they should be made a part of the original building plan.
In earlier time, these types of windows were decorated with a cosy window seat. Now, this additional space is often transformed into a home office, study or an area for installing storage units.
This house, planned by Agraffe Design, still retains its beautifully decorated windows. As you can see, it is quite possible to spend hours sitting by charming windows like these.
