I want to try the HMB(host memory buffer) function with MS inbox NVMe driver.

I have already install Win 10 Anniversary Edition but I don’t know how to enable through registry key.

Could you kindly share the way to enable HMB function?

Note1: My drive support HMB function

Состоялся переезд не только на новую конфигурацию тестового стенда, но и новую операционную систему. И с этим переездом возникла проблема в данном наборе тестов: используемая ранее программа TeraCopy в среде Windows 10 показывала неадекватные результаты. Поэтому было решено отказаться от нее.

Отныне тесты на копирование групп файлов будут выполняться силами самой операционной системы. Для этого был написан командный файл, который в автоматическом режиме копирует файлы и фиксирует время, затраченное на выполнение операции, делая минутную паузу между заданиями (для того, чтобы накопители с реализацией SLC-режима могли произвести консолидацию данных и подготовить чистые страницы флеш-памяти – так, как это происходит в реальной эксплуатации). Перед выполнением теста производится дополнительная операция копирования с целью заполнения дискового кэша и минимизации его влияния на результаты тестов.

Дешево и быстро. Без приукрашивания это реально конкурент бюджетным SATA SSD, не оставляющий всяким решениям на Phison S11 и Marvell 88NV1120 никаких шансов ни по цене, ни по практически всем скоростным характеристикам. Silicon Motion SM2263XT реально впечатляет, а технология Host Memory Buffer (HMB) полностью переворачивает представление о DRAM-less контроллерах.

Смущает лишь конструкция «экономим на спичках»: отвратительное исполнение охлаждения и в результате повышенный нагрев, неадекватно и, скорее всего (нет возможности произвести точные замеры), нарушающий стандарты тонкий текстолит, бюджетная флеш-память невысокого уровня (хоть и высокой градации по меркам Spectek, но резкий расход резерва наглядно демонстрирует цену этой градации).Если с первым еще можно справиться самостоятельно и малой ценой, то вот второе и третье – нерешаемо и может закончиться плачевно. Еще одна немаловажная особенность – нужда в определенной версии операционной системы: формально в семействе Windows даже первоначальные Windows 10 не рекомендуются для использования с накопителем с Host Memory Buffer (HMB), пригодна только самая последняя – Fall Creators Update (по факту кэширование всё-таки может работать и в более старых ОС, благо оно изначально предусмотрено стандартом PCI-Express, именно стабильность работы не гарантируется).

Краткий итог: хорошая идея и технологическое решение, у SM2263XT однозначно есть перспективы, однако конкретная реализация в виде KingSpec NE хромает.
