Rooms with view
To have a wonderful trip you definitely need to take time for choosing a residence. In addition to such an important criterion as the level of the hotel, you should also pay attention to what the view from a room window is. There are several basic criteria, such as accommodation, food, location in the building and perhaps the most important — view from the window. After all, it is very important what scenery outside the window is when you wake up, fall asleep and just look afar, thinking about something bright and beautiful.
Classification of rooms with view
To indicate type of the view from the window of the hotel there is used a letter abbreviation or a phrase. So,you can easily choose the best variant by yourself or ask help from a tour operator. Sometimes types of the view are not specified. In this case you will see a special mark – run of the house (ROH).
Conventionally, all types of view can be divided into two major groups:
- natural landscapes,
- architectural structures.
If the scenery outside consists of natural and anthropogenic (human-made) objects, then it will be defined in general words, such as land view (LV). They use «Panoramic» for hotels on a hill or for top floor rooms with good view.
Natural landscapes
Natural landscapes is the most common type of terrain outside the hotel, with its flora and human activity.
Classical types of relief are water landscapes (sea, ocean, lake, river view — RV, stream, pond in the park), beach, mountains (Mountain view — MV), hills and valleys (Valley view — VV).
More exotic, are much less common, are the views of the volcano, the caldera of the island, lagoon, harbor, bay, sand dunes (Dune view -DV) and several others.
The flora depends mostly on the kind of country that was chosen for your tour.
Hotel rooms may be offered with the views of parks, forests, gardens (Garden view — GV), palm trees and other greenery.
Human activities may be associated with agriculture, such as rooms with views of a rice field, vineyard, or some kind of recreation activities (golf course).
Often, generalized names and references to geographical features areused: tropical view, coastline, coast, Bosphorus, Gibraltar,English Channel (also called the Channel), Marina, Dubai Creek, the Golden Horn and many others.
Architectural objects
Architectural structure is something built by people. In general, this object can be placed directly at the hotel, e.g. a pool view (PV) or courtyard view (IV — Inside view). The second option is a view of the buildings and locations around the city, such as streets, roofs, fountains, squares, markets (name varies depending on geography, for example, in Arab countries they usea term «suq» for markets). Often for these types of rooms are used generalized names such as City view (CV) or center of the city, and for towns with ancient history,where its construction had been changed for thousands of years, there are special terms – Old Town or New Town.
The third variant — views of the transport infrastructure, such as airport, railway station, river or sea port.
The fourth variant is views with different architectural masterpieces. Every city has its own monuments and remarkable places, so hotels offer their visitors to enjoy these incredible views right out the window. There may be some building – a fortress, castle, fort or its remains, such as fortification or landmarks of these cities and states.
In particular, let’s see some types of hotel room views in these cities:
- Singapore (Marina Bay, Merlion)
- Athens (Acropolis, Temple of Zeus);
- Barcelona (Paseo de Gracia, Rambla);
- Istanbul (Taksim Square);
- Paris (Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe)
- New York (Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty);
- Sydney (Darling Harbour);
- St. Petersburg (Church of the Savior on Blood, Nevsky Prospect, the Square of Arts);
- Moscow (Kremlin, Moscow Art Theatre. Chekhov’s Christ the Savior Cathedral);
- Prague (Prague Castle);
- Rome (Colosseum, Via Vittorio Veneto);
- Dubai (Burj Khalifa)
- London (Times Square and Big Ben, Grosvenor Square, the Royal Stables).
In these and many other cities there are many hotels with wonderful views of architectural landmarks and local flavor.
Seascapes
In many hotels rooms with sea view (SV) or ocean view (OV) are classical for beach tourism. Moreover, hotels can offer several basic options for views of the sea and ocean surface:
It is important to take into account the location of the hotel and itsline. For example, the view from a hotel of the third line is quite different from the one of the zero (first) line. From these places you will see absolutely different things and will feel yourself differently.
Such rooms can be equipped with panoramic windows, and that really improves visibility.
The process of choosing a view from the window of the hotel room is an important condition for a good rest, visual perception of the world and its enchanting beauty.
How to choose a room with a view is written in our next article.

5-Star hotels in NY are special. Like 5-star hotels anywhere, the highest quality, impeccable service, luxurious amenities, and pristine facilities are expected. However, it’s the «specialness» of NYC, its ecstatic energy, that elevates New York’s 5-star hotels to a class of their own. The distinguished New York EDITION, housed in the historic Metropolitan Life clock tower, is irrefutably one of the best New York hotels, and definitely the place to stay when visiting the Big Apple. Everything is perfect— a serene atmosphere, generous staff, sophisticated furnishings, central location, and award-winning dining from Michelin-starred chef Jason Atherton. Guest rooms are lavish, spotless, tastefully decorated and feature jaw-dropping views of the Empire State Building and NY’s globally recognizable skyline. iPads are available, so it’s easy to stay connected; but trust us, you’ll want to disconnect and spend quality time with your sweetheart over a ravishing meal at The Clocktower restaurant or while slowly appreciating Magic Owl Easy Blonde Ale at the hotel’s lobby bar. Join locals and fellow travelers on the exciting streets of NY, like parks, shopping, restaurants, popular landmarks, and the subway are within walking distance.

The Pierre, A Taj Hotel, New York, or simply The Pierre, has been for several years in a row one of the finest hotels in NYC. Currently, the task of keeping The Pierre in top shape has been handed to Taj Hotels, the Indian hospitality group (after a US$100 million renovation). This Indian influence is felt in some details of today’s The Pierre, namely on the gastronomic creations by executive chef Ashfer Biju or the outstanding butler service. One of the things we enjoy the most at The Pierre is its well-preserved atmosphere from the 1930’s — something like a journey back in time with today’s 5-star amenities. The Pierre, A Taj Hotel, New York is located in the prestigious Fifth Avenue and faces Central Park — some of its rooms and suites feature magnificent views onto New York’s most famous park and skyscrapers. A true classic-luxury hotel in Midtown Manhattan in the city that never sleeps.

Thanks to the vision of hoteliers Tim and Kit Kemp, we are proud to present you with one of the best boutique hotels in New York with a charming view: Crosby Street Hotel. All rooms are special but the ones to go for are the ones located on the hotel’s top floor — floor to ceiling windows are absolutely perfect. In fact, we could spend hours gazing out of the window and admire New York’s city landscape (lower Manhattan). The hotel’s 12th floor reserves a surprise: a rooftop kitchen garden where some vegetables are grown — ask the Crosby Street Hotel’s chef nicely and you may get to visit this interesting space featuring contrasting NYC views. A certain British influence can be felt at Crosby Street Hotel in some details such as the bed’s headboards and the romantic afternoon tea, served at the elegant The Crosby Bar. Staying at Crosby Street Hotel means staying in one of the hippest areas in New York — the SoHo (right between Prince and Spring streets, in an area with several trendy restaurants, coffee shops and art galleries). For all these reasons, and also for the fact that there’s a subterranean screening room on the hotel’s premises, it’s not hard to understand why Crosby Street Hotel is such a movie stars-magnet.

Impressing us with a view is no easy task. With that in mind, we had the goose pumps the first time we set foot on The Roof, the rooftop terrace at Le Méridien New York, Central Park. With that dazzling view, the Le Méridien New York, Central Park instantly became one of our top-choice hotels in NYC. Should you feel the need to have a Central Park hotel view available 24/7 (we do understand your need, really), our advice to you is to book a Park View Suite (these are also considerably bigger compared to the hotel’s standard rooms). Central Park, Fifth Avenue and Broadway Theatre are just a few minutes away from this luxury New York hotel.

The Plaza: you’ve probably seen this name over and over again in some Hollywood movie. Being one of NYC best and most iconic hotels, staying at The Plaza is like been given the opportunity to witness New York’s rich past in person. With a prestigious location on Fifth Avenue, steps away from Bergdorf Goodman, Channel, Louis Vuitton and Saks Fifth Avenue, The Plaza offers direct views of Central Park. A fantastic Central Park hotel view can be enjoyed from the Carnegie Suites — with the price to match such beauty. After all, how often in life do you get the chance of staying in a French Renaissance chateau in one of New York’s most iconic corners?

Writing about New York’s best hotel views without mentioning 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge would be virtually impossible. It was during the summer of 2016 that one of the most stylish and hip hotels in the Big Apple opened its doors to a very eclectic, international clientele. Upon arriving at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, the cinematic panoramic views leave no one indifferent: guests are frequently seen reaching to their phones in order to capture one of those magic shots over Brooklyn Bridge and New York’s fascinating skyline. A word of advice: to guarantee your room with a NYC view, make sure to select a room type that includes a view upon making a reservation. As temperatures start to soar, don’t pass out on the chance to take a dive into one of New York’s most spectacular infinity pools (with cityscape views, most certainly).

One of the very best hotel views in NYC. Empire State, Chrysler Building — it’s all there for you to enjoy. Enjoy an incomparable New York view from the premium front seats available at The Standard — East Village’s rooftop terrace. Room with a view tip: upon arriving, ask for a west-facing room as these have the best hotel views onto New York’s eye-boggling skyline. The Standard — East Village has also an intriguing library — book volumes can be surprising. Last but certainly not least, a word to exceptional Narcissa restaurant, where most ingredients are sourced from Balazs’ Hudson Valley farm. Soho is within walking distance from this contemporary hotel with a stunning view.

A stylish 4-star hotel with killer views over Manhattan? This might just be your perfect match. The Ludlow Hotel, in the Lower East Side and opposite to Katz’s Delicatessen (must try the pastrami sandwiches), delivers absolutely extraordinary New York skyline views. When choosing The Ludlow Hotel for your upcoming stay in NYC, keep a special eye on the Sky Loft or the Loft King with Terrace room types — those certainly make it into our top hotel views in NYC (don’t get us started on the bathroom NYC views). The Ludlow Hotel is a good alternative to avoid the tourist blandness that goes on in the Midtown — the hotel’s concierges, although very efficient, look more like the people you would like to have a drink with and not so much the traditional concierges. Add the stylish design and elegant decoration and the result is one of the best hotels in NYC with great value for money.

Situated on the Williamsburg Waterfront, the Wythe Hotel opened its doors in 2012 and prides itself on being the first hotel to capture the creative spirit of its Borough. Built in a 117-year old factory, it’s easy to see where the Wythe got its industrial — yet ultra-modern — decor and style from, featuring exposed pipes and brick walls amongst light and airy rooms. Its original and well-preserved wooden ceilings, concrete floors, heated windows and rustic finishings are the stuff of history enthusiasts and architectural admirers’ dreams. Although ranked as a 4-star hotel, one couldn’t hope for a better stay in Brooklyn, especially when considering the spectacular views across the NYC Skyline, Manhattan and Brooklyn neighbourhood. For those feeling peckish, there are two in-house restaurants to choose from — on the ground floor, the Reynard which offers typical, American breakfasts, lunches & dinners are perfect for those who prefer to spend a few hours in the hotel before heading out; while the Lemon’s restaurant and bar on the 6th floor offers smaller plates and a perfect place to have a nightcap. Close to the hotel is the Music Hall of Williamsburg, where one can easily catch a live music show and thrust right into the lively spirit that lingers there. Additionally, the East River Ferry is but a stone’s throw away and ready to charter visitors to many incredible spots in New York City.
